    We scheduled the 6 course tasting for our 14th anniversary. When they called to confirm the lady on the phone told me she picked out the most romantic table. When I arrived on time the hostess had no idea of a preselected table. Asked me if I preferred a booth or table, I told her I thought our seat was already picked, but if not then a booth was fine. We were sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant. Half way through the meal shades at our table were lifted for a view of moving traffic on the road. The tables near us were loud, and we didn't get what was suggested over the phone. The food was great, our server David was knowledgeable. But we sat at the table for nearly an hour with only water on the table before any food arrived. The dessert left a little to be desired.

    Service was very good. Food was not good for the money you paid for. We did the chef tasting menu. 1. Steak tartare was seasoned well, flatbread was horrible. Hard and stale 2. Scallops with dashi was good, scallops were cooked well but dish was missing some salt. Just a sprinkle 3. Handmade pasta itself was good but it was sauce was ok. Nothing to rave about 4. American Waygu was good but nothing fantastic about it. Risotto was good. Charred Chinese broccoli was good. Dish was good but nothing fantastic or outstanding 5. Cheese course was not good. Had a very strong flavor that took away from the cheese 6. Blackberry dessert would have been good without the seeds. Seeds should have been stained otherwise you just had to swallow the dessert Bread that was brought to the table the Asiago cheese was hard. Overall so many other restaurants that have good food. There was nothing here that would make you want to come back specifically for the dish. For the money you pay to eat here there should be a specialty or dish that makes you want to come back bc you can’t get it anywhere else.

    This remains the best meal in Jacksonville, but at this price point, I'd like a bit more attention to detail. Despite noting our special diet when making the reservation and confirming it when confirming, we were still given regular menus and offered bread we could not eat. This has unfortunately happened before. The employee who called to confirm also asked how many years we were celebrating, so I was surprised when no mention was made of our anniversary during our visit. Those little efforts that cost nothing make for a memorable evening!

    We enjoyed an elegant dinner at Matthew's on a quiet Tuesday evening. This restaurant offers very fine dining, well executed. Highlights of our meal were the steak tartare (first course) and diver scallops entree. Our waiter could not have been more courteous, more attentive, or more knowledgeable--a truly professional server.

    Was a great experience and the chef went out of their way to accommodate the allergies at our table, which was much appreciated! Server was ok. Not sure since we were an 8pm reservation or if he was new but seemed uninterested in general

    Thank you for the touch points from beginning to end. This restaurant is a beacon on Jacksonville that will serve as a benchmark as the city continues to grow. As a longtime hospitality servant, I appreciate the attention to detail. Sam, who as we learned, has been an SA for multiple years, became a server recently. His service was impeccable, genuine, and enthusiastic. In an industry that got turned on hits head several years ago, it is refreshing to see that this place is fostering its “own” from within. Keep up the good work and mentality of a “family serving a family”.

    Rarely do I find a restaurant where everyone is as polished and professional as the team at Matthew's. They made my guests and me feel like we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The food was excellent, too. My first visit to Matthew's... Won't be my last.

    I want to thank Matthew Medure for reaching out to me personally regarding a disappointing experience we had at Matthew's. Chalk it up to an "off" night. The restaurant has been our favorite in Jacksonville for a number of years. I appreciated the fact that the owner cared about the review and took the time to respond to the feedback. Because of his professionalism and willingness to consider "constructive criticism," we will definitely be going back next time we're in town. Portions are small, but the food is always delicious. It's a first class operation if you enjoy fine dining.

    As always, our experience was amazing. Our server Sam was fantastic and made sure our anniversary evening was special. We even had special menus printed for us that said happy 19th anniversary! We both work not-for-profit service jobs, so we don’t often feel like rock stars, but we did this evening! Love Matthew’s and will keep on coming back!

    Our Anniversary was great because of the staff at Matthew’s. From the Valet wishing us happy anniversary when we first arrived to the signed menu from the entire staff at the end of meal, the evening could not have been more perfect. The food was delicious, each course was perfect.

    We celebrated my wife’s birthday by enjoying a pre-reservation drink in the comfortable and welcoming bar! It was VERY hot outside, but cool and comfortable inside! We gently joined a few others who were already sitting in the bar area having their conversations and cold beverages. While enjoying our early arrival, we finished our appetizer of pan seared cauliflower and cold drinks just as our reservation was to begin in the main dining room. Upon being seated, our waiter (Sam) took the time go over our menu options as this was our initial visit to Matthew’s Restaurant. We certainly appreciated his patience by helping us to select the six-course Chef’s Adventure Tasting Menu which included a wide offering of bread, shrimp, delicious escargot, an interesting and very tasty crab dish, succulent duck, a cheese tray and cream brûlée for desert. Sam and other attendants made sure our drink glasses were filled and that, along with each course, we were provide fresh utensils with which to enjoy our meal. All in all, our French cuisine experience was completely enhanced by an appropriate level of attentiveness that totally allowed us to enjoy our special birthday evening in San Marco! The evening was surprisingly topped off by our waiter. While we were paying our check, Sam presented my wife with her personalized dinner menu that had been created specifically for her! We’ll both have very fond memories of her latest birthday experience and look forward to our next visit.

    Matthew's never disappoints. It was our 20th anniversary and everyone, starting with the valet, offered their congratulations. The 20th anniversary printed on the menu was a nice touch. Our waiter, "Bow", was excellent. In general, the whole experience was what we've come to expect from Matthew's. Thanks you for a wonderful evening.

    We chose Matthew’s to celebrate our anniversary for the second year in a row. The chef tasting adventure amazing. The highlights were the chilled cauliflower soup, the wagu bolognese and the peach tart. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The service was outstanding as always and they go the extra mile to make a special occasion feel truly special. I highly recommend Matthew’s for special occasions or anytime you want an amazing meal.

    You can’t go wrong at Matthews. We did the Chef’s Table tasting menu and wow just wow. Joshua at the bar is great as are his drinks. He is a lot of fun to talk to. Lapson our server was 100% on point and the kitchen team Head Chef Justin, Chef Bailey and Chef Kat were in sync, a true team and the food was beyond amazing. Whitney was also great and I’m missing the name of one of the other Chef’s. Sitting at the Chef’s table is always our favorite place to be. Thank you Matthew’s for making our night truly special.

    The adventure menu dining experience is one I would do again and again. There was not one course I wouldn't order again. Jess was so kind, perfectly observant to our needs as a table, and really honored our anniversary well. 5 STARS!

    Best food in Jacksonville - hands down. Terrific place. The Hawaiian Tuna Tartare was spectacular and the grouper was outstanding. The wine selection was plentiful and the desserts truly finished off a great dinner. First time going; will definitely be back often.

    Matthew’s has been phenomenal each time I’ve dined there. The Chef’s Adventure Menu with the wine pairings is a MUST try! The staff are always incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, they make the experience incredible.

    I drove 340 miles from Atlanta, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida to take my son and daughter-in-law to dinner at Matthews. It was worth the drive. Everything about the experience was exceptional from the valet to the bus boys. Because we were celebrating we splurged and had the six course chef dinner with wine pairing. it isn’t something I would do often, as it was more than my normal dinner budget.  but we all agreed. It was worth every penny. if you go, definitely have a cocktail from Jessica who runs the bar. My son and I both love bourbon, and she made the best old fashion we have ever had. I believe she makes her own bitters. And definitely ask for Beau to be your server. He really made the evening. His description of the food and knowledge of the wine was incredible. We enjoyed him almost as much as the dinner.

    First time here. Atmosphere was pleasant. Waiter answered all our questions, gave suggestions about food and drinks. Overall had a great time.
