From the moment we walked into The Tavern Restaurant, we were swept into an unforgettable dining experience. The atmosphere was warm and elegant, setting the perfect tone for the evening outside. Scott, our waiter, was impeccable—attentive, kind, and genuinely knowledgeable. Every detail of our service was thoughtful and seamless. Daniel, our sommelier, was equally impressive. His wine and vermouth recommendations elevated our meal beautifully and added a refined touch to each course. Thanks Zach, for the bubbles!! Adrien and Bjorn enchanted us with beautiful stories of the history of Mattei’s including the original architecture, buildings, and horseshoes on the wall. We hung on every word as we were taken back in time. The dinner itself was absolutely exquisite. My husband enjoyed the Smash Burger and fresh cut fries, while I enjoyed the Half Chicken. Each started off with a beautiful Kale Salad. Every bite was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. It’s clear the kitchen takes immense pride in both quality and creativity. We were treated like royalty the entire night, and it made for a truly special occasion. We finished the evening with a beautiful walk around the grounds and admired the history from which we just learned about. Thank you to the entire team at The Tavern for a night we won’t soon forget. I had an incredible meal at Mattei’s Tavern back in March 2024 — the chicharones were especially memorable, and the overall menu had a great balance of elevated dishes and satisfying pub fare. We returned this past Tuesday night and noticed some changes. I understand a chef transition was needed, but the new menu felt a bit limited and didn’t quite hit the same notes. Service was friendly, though there seemed to be a disconnect between our server and the runner — we ordered the sourdough, but it never came. Still a beautiful setting, but the experience felt a bit off and slightly overpriced this time around. Hoping it finds its rhythm again soon.

Our service was none existent. Was never able to order drinks and food took forever to come out and after it finally arrived no one checked to see if everything was okay. It was a birthday dinner that was a major letdown.

The food was incredible! (Especially the pork chop). The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and they provided excellent service. The property and building were so charming, and filled with history. I would HIGHLY recommend The Tavern (Mattei’s Tavern).

Very good food but a server didn’t come by until we flagged someone down 25 minutes after being seated and main courses were plated 90 minutes after arrival. Wait staff was pleasant and food is high quality but we expected a bit more given the reputation and price point
