   The food was good. The service had still got a lot of work to do. Even though it was not busy, they are slow to take drink orders and took forever to get us our food. Also, they confirmed we would be in a booth, they didn’t seat us in one and the Hostess was not helpful.

   First impression as you enter is charming lively and a fun bar area We were early so our table wasn’t ready and had a drink in the bar area Had an espresso martini that was just ok for $22 Hostess came by shortly and seated us the adjacent dining room. Ok seating but extremely loud The wait staff and the sommelier are top notch but sadly the food was not! Supposedly they have a new chef who completely changed the menu that I saw on their website which drew me there in the first place! Prices were considerably higher (what else is new nowadays!) for instance a chicken entree was $45! We settled on a calamari starter which was awful it was friend in cornmeal that was gritty and sticked to your teeth - what? Next we had the salmon which was perfectly cooked but served with almost raw broccolini that was just steamed and no flavor as did the salmon. I had the scallops that were almost raw with a overly hot sauce that overpowered the delicate flavor of the scallops - sent it back and just shared my companions salmon We ended with a plum pastry with ice cream that was delicious The wine the sommelier choose for us and the dessert were the savior to an otherwise let down of a meal Go for the fun ambience at the bar area but skip the dinner there!

   We have visited Mattei’s tavern for many years and have seen them through at least a couple of ‘iterations’ prior to being acquired by Auberge Resorts. We have always enjoyed the location and our dining experiences. Our server was great as was the food. Our only complaint was the interval between the time our salads were cleared and our entrees arrived… nearly 45 minutes waiting. Not sure if it was the wedding or the large group in their private dining room but we felt a bit forgotten in general. Maybe just a bad night and they did acknowledge the wait and offered extra wine with dessert.

   First time at Mattei’s Tavern under the new management, and both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, drinks were great, and our server David made us feel at home. We came on a weekday and it was very peaceful and quiet, very enjoyable.

   We were seated in a large empty room. I tried to make earlier reservations and they were not available, but when we showed up there were many open tables. We sat for over 19 minuted before we finally got a server, who Gaye us directions for the buffet. Food was just OK, the star of the show was the prim rib, even though it could have been a bit warmer. For the price you would expect to offer some sweets to end with.

   What a great experience! The service was 11/10. The food and drinks were delicious. We had the hot chicken sandwich and the kale salad. We had a spritzer and the horse with no name cocktail. Everything was excellent! Not to mention the beautiful view sitting outside under the wisteria ! Truly a dream lunch! Can’t wait to come back.

   Our dining experience was delightful. They seated us early and gave us a nice table outside. Food was delicious and well prepared. Our server was very attentive. Charming venue to enjoy on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

    Devine from start to finish!!!! My daughter and I were celebrating our birthdays together and the extra special service was so appreciated and delivered with exceptional service !
