Matsukawa is Ireland's prime destination for experiencing the essence of authentic Edomae Sushi in a unique Omakase Course. Our history traces back to 1961, where our story began at the foothills of Japan's iconic Mount Fuji. At Matsukawa we seamlessly merge the artistry of traditional Japanese culinary techniques with the finest Irish ingredients sourced from esteemed local suppliers, all curated by our dedicated team led by a Japanese Head Chef, revered as a master in the art of sushi craftsmanship.
Opening Hours:
・Lunch: 12 PM seating only from Fri to Sun
・Dinner: 5pm and 7:30pm seating from Wed to Sun

We don't have a la carte menu for both lunch and dinner. For lunch, we serve Set Menu. For dinner, we only serve Omakase course i.e. Chef's course.

The best restaurant in Dublin bar none! Surreal experience to be able to see the chef at work and presenting the dishes right in front of your eyes. All the staff are lovely and the vibe of the restaurant is impeccable. The Edomae style of sushi was phenomenal and so different to anything else available in Dublin. It was an honour to eat here today and we will most definitely be back!

Delivers on everything it promises. Amazing atmosphere and interior, knowledgeable and friendly staff. The sushi was like nothing I’ve ever eaten before, fresh, balanced and all prepared right in front of you by the chef whose passion and commitment to quality you can taste in every bite. Simple but well curated alcohol list, the saké options topping the experience. It might be too much of a culture shock for most but the only thing the bathroom was missing was an authentic Japanese toilet. Eating sushi will never be the same again.

Best Japanese gastronomic experience in Dublin. I have been to Japan and I can confirm this place has the most authentic Japanese atmosphere and food. The chef and waiters make the whole thing lovely. Food makes you speechless.

Very much off the beaten tourist path and very much Japanese, this spot is a real gem if you like sushi. It isn’t fancy and doesn’t take all night but the quality of the food and the pleasure of watching its painstaking preparation makes dinner feel like a really special evening out.

Food is excellent. Presentation is excellent. Service is spotless. Sake selection (in my inexperienced opinion) quite good. I have dined twice at Matsukawa and have never been less than impressed. I am not sure how the Michelin guide selection works exactly but if they keep up the quality and consistency I see them acquiring a star (if they go for it). My advice would be to test this omakase experience before it gets even more popular. Finding a table is already quite hard anyway. Anyone who has any interst in the Japanese cuisine should try Matsukawa at least once
