   Had lunch and dinner at Matisse. The service both times was awesome and so was the food! The chef went out of his way to make my wife gluten and dairy free entrees that were amazing! I would totally recommend this restaurant!

   Food was very good to good. Was happy with service but was disappointed the waiters did not offer to bring the birthday cake out out of the box. Rather they just put the unopened box on the table which I thought was very odd. I understand them not cutting and serving but not taking it out of the box?

   Food and service were fine, but the payment was a hassle as the wireless terminal would not connect to complete the transaction which forced us to use USD to pay the CAD bill. Not sure the exchange was done correctly.

   The dining room could do without the large TV sets. Perennial conversation killers, they belong more in a sports bar (if anywhere) and not at Matisse. Otherwise the service and the food were all fine.

   I booked the Mother's Day brunch and it was abysmal. Absolutely no brunch, just a regular hotel brunch menu (no wonder it was easy to get a reservation 1 month ahead of the date). I booked for the location (easy to get to) and that was a huge mistake. The servers were 'nice-ish', but the food (at a RIDICULOUS price point) was fair-to-middling. Brunch was: 1 coffee x 2, shared 1 grilled calamari appetizer, 2 Caesar salads (1 with grilled chicken and 1 with grilled shrimp) - NO DESSERT and NO BOOZE = CAD$96 including tax. I almost screamed out loud when I read the bill. Two words: never again.

   I found the restaurant a bit chilli (temperature wise). It sits partitioned off from the hotel lobby; so, when someone comes in the front door, any cold wind finds it's way into the restaurant. The food was average; service was okay; presentation was nice though. Overall, I found the restaurant underwhelming; and probably won't go back.
