On one hand, I almost hesitate to share how much I love dining at Matisse for special holiday meals, because I fear everyone will want to go there and enjoy, and will KNOW what I am raving about, and it won't be long before I won't be able to get MY OWN reservation! Still, on the other hand, Matisse deserves to be acknowledged for their mouthwatering & consistently delectable dishes! I made Easter brunch reservations for my family, knowing that there would be a special menu for the day, but not knowing what exactly it would consist of. From past dining experiences, however, I was confident whatever was being served would be above par. While the food is always spectacular, though, I feel many restaurants can do food, but if they don't hire the right people, it's all for not.

From the moment you step through the door at Matisse, you are greeted by Wendy, their lovely hostess, who makes you feel welcomed & special. The staff there is simply amazing. Gilberto and his team all work together to keep things running efficiently, quickly, smoothly and accurately, yet manage to ALWAYS keep smiling and remain friendly & accommodating. Many restaurants will have a time limit on how long you can be at a table, especially on a holiday, but Matisse is NEVER rushing you out of their dining room. Apparently, they realize the holidays are about spending time with those you love, & they allow us to do so!

If you haven't tried Matisse, you are missing out! Life is short, so treat yourself! :-)

This is a great place for a quiet evening with good friends or your loved one. Wonderful food and friendly but not overbearing service in an old-school maner. Outstanding in every way.

Besides the hostess shushing my child twice and making us so uncomfortable we had to ask to have our table moved, the rest of the staff and experience was outstanding.

We've been coming here for lunch about once a month for several years, and their food is excellent with service to match. It's never crowded at lunch so it is fine for our group to converse. This is probably your best bet for lunch in the area.

One person working and he left before we were even done eating. Guess he missed his tip like gone a whole 45 mins. Never saw him again. I hate that the hotel guest use the entrance of the restaurant if they are going to the hotel only. Throws off the vibe. I’ll pass I won’t be back.

Food was excellent. Would appreciate some gluten free options - especially bread or a pre-meal relish dish. Thought prices were too high to eat here very often. Also there's been no change in the menu in a very long time. Would appreciate some other options - maybe scallops, veal, something gluten free and vegetarian?

Couldn’t have made a better choice for valentine’s. Fixed price 3 course dinner with good choices. I had lobster and my husband had rib eye steak, both delicious. A nice glass of champagne , included w your meal and dessert, which they were both very good and at the end a red rose to take home. Very nice touch!

The interior of the hotel and the restaurant made for an enchanting first date. Our server was incredible, super friendly but curtious, she handled a camera like a champ, we couldn’t have had a nicer night. Go upstairs and relax after dinner, walk the hallways and check out the real artwork on the walls, and on a nice evening sit outside on the patio upstairs.

My husband and I visited for dinner. There was parking on site, but we had some trouble finding the parking entrance -- Friday evening, freeway entrance/exit right there. It's a nice place with good food. We took advantage of the three course special (unadvertised but welcome). I had the salmon which was perfect; he had the chicken breast which was dry, but was happily supplied with helpful extra sauce. The service was quick and friendly. We'll probably go back.

Weird vibe at this hotel restaurant.Upscale dining at a modest hotel. The first thing you notice as you walk in is it's castle look. The whole feel is a little surreal. Once you settle in,you start to feel more comfortable. The menu and wine selection is quit nice, and the food was very good.Service is hit and miss, but overall a unique experience. Unless you got a recommendation you provably would never notice this place. But now you now ,I recommend you give it a try.

The food is always good. But on this visit, the service was extremely poor. It took 3/4 of the lunch hour to finally get some straws for our drinks. The server rarely stopped back to check on how we were doing. In fact, I waited for 20 minutes until someone finally came back so that I could ask for more dressing for my dry salad. Excellent servers always check back a few minutes after serving the food to ensure satisfaction, which was not the case here. I will go back but am expecting better service.

The Ayres is hotel is beautiful, and I am happy that the restaurant is now open again. The choices on the menu are limited and the food is not excellent. The ambience however is beautiful and it was a great place to have a quiet conversation over several hours. The restaurant was not full so there was no rush for us to leave our table.

The braised beef rigatoni was heavenly and my wife and daughter loved the Lamb shank and crusted Salmon. I ended it with a scrumptious salted caramel chocolate tart with a dollop of french vanilla ice cream. I just wish it would have been a tad larger for $10 instead of the tiny piece that I absorbed with just 4 small bites (LOL). Including a perfectly sweet strawberry margarita with sugar rim for me and Crumpet loved her Bailey's and coffee, it came to $125 for the 3 of us. Money well spent and our hostess was sweet and humorous and stayed nearby to check on us and our waiter was very patient and warm and the ambiance was just right. Do yourself a solid and check out this small treasure of a restaurant!

Ms. Wendy was the best hostess!! Our entrees took ages to come out!! The lobster (even though it was cold) and tempura shrimp were great. Our steaks and veggies were also brought out cold. The restaurant did gave us a discount for our "trouble" which was appreciated.
