   The appetizer course and main course came out at the same time causing some meals to get cold. One entree was served in a paper to-go container which made it awkward to consume at a dinner tables The torta had way too much sprinkled cheese and it overwhelmed the other ingredients. Save for the guacamole the food lacked flavor. The pitcher of sangria was generous and very good and made up for the poor food quality.

   I acknowledge that South Beach Miami can have a tourist restaurant row feel. I found Matilda's uninspiring. Yes it was a rainy Tuesday night in January but here is my experience. 1) Picnic bench place - not really an OpenTable restaurant. There is fake grass under the tables. No silverware or utensils to be seen and the few sauces were on a cart next to the cleaning rags. Yes I know its taco's people but it's also Miami beach so I expect better. 2) Tacos are around $3.75-5. Carnita was good but had pork rinds (great concept) which made it hard to eat being overfilled and textures didn't match. The pollo de carbon was pulled chicken with no flavor, a bit watery so the shells got soggy fast. A can of beer was $8. My chips were stale and the salsa were served in small plastic containers. 3) I wanted to leave a cash tip and they didn't have proper change for a twenty.

   It is a self-service place which wasn’t expected based on looking at it on Google Maps and their website. Tacos weren’t bad but they weren’t very good either. Their Tamarind Agua Fresca was excellent, though a bit on the sweet side(which I prefer). Their customer service was on point.

   Decided to make a reservation for a family meal with 6 people. Didn’t realize what I was going to run into. It’s basically a Food street experience - order your own food from a menu, pay at the cash register and expect to sit on a picnic table on a side walk to eat. There is no service at all. Your food arrives in baskets in random order - so some people in a group are eating while others are staring at their faces. Regarding the food itself, I have had better tacos in Norway than this joint in Miami. Skip and go elsewhere.

   I love mexican food, and it is very difficult in my opinion to find an authentic mexican restaurant with real flavors, So I was very happy to find this place. Drinks were also Very good. The bottomless sangrias and micheladas.
