Exceptionally lovely restaurant and inn. Service was attentive but not intrusive, had a lovely time. The food is excellent, just be aware it is a menu of a variety of small plates for sharing. It would not be the choice for someone who loves a big plate of anything! Each was delicious and creative and used exquisitely fresh local ingredients. We had a hard time understanding how to order, and the waiter was not particularly instructive. Still, by the end of the evening we were full, delighted, relaxed and happy.

This is one of our favorite restaurants and definitely the best restaurant in the Windham area. The menu isn’t large but we always find amazing dishes and love to share. The wines are excellent and I love the decor. Had a chance to have our pre dinner cocktail outside which was amazing. The garden is beautiful and will be spectacular in the summer. We had a white French wine, the orange wine and rose. We had the lettuces salad, the tuna belly appetizer, the bread with butter, the lentils, scallops and trout. The team is kind, efficient but not obtrusive. The restaurant is small and if you can’t get in try the bar which is warm and welcoming. If you are in the area this is a must.

In summary, we had a nice meal at Matilda. Here's where the team needs to focus: 1) value was a real problem.....the meal cost was quite high (our bill for three people was in excess of $300) and the wine list is not only weird (...and I'm a wine freak)....but the prices were way too high, with most offerings starting at $70 and going up sharply from there. The other issue is that the kitchen does not seem interested in keeping the menu changing and fresh. I have only been to Matilda once before.....almost a year prior......but many of the offerings were unchanged?? This is unacceptable for a place that claims to offer top-notch food and a quality dining experience. Where are the "specials"? And how is the kitchen demonstrating creativity and a spark to entertain?? On the positive side....the food was very good, especially the "mains" (steelhead trout and the famous half chicken). This place has real potential.....but it needs leadership in the kitchen and a much more creative wine list with better value across both food and wine offerings. Otherwise.....it will remain half empty. Just sayin'. (Philadelphia patron.....I'm not from NYC!)

We loved everything about here. Every menu item seemed so carefully thought out. The butter that comes with the bread. The homemade whipped cream on the dessert. Delicious!! People should start coming here when they visit the area

We loved Matilda. The menu is creative and delicious. Service was on point and very thoughtful. An absolutely lovely and unique dinner in the Catskills.

Have dined at Matilda since it opened and every time is almost like a new experience! Love the setting with its homy feel and the food is always excellent. Can’t wait for our next visit!

I am so in tune with all the sensations of this dining experience! The staff is delightful, the food is phenomenal and for a few short wonderful hours I am in heaven. The Amish chicken is an instant classic, the dauphine potatoes- a crowd favorite, the lentils are absolutely divine. And as someone who doesn't care for scallops? Consider me converted! The heart is in the kitchen and it shows!
