Consistently good food and service at reasonable prices, my kind of go-to place!
Great food. One of my favorite places to eat.
I wish I could say more nice things about our incredible server, Yahya, tonight! She was extremely personable and friendly and fully catered to every detail of our girls night out. She even was able to help accommodate my allergies and make sure that we were all able to enjoy our meals. Can’t wait to come back soon!
Went here for a quick dinner on a Monday night. Very quiet, estimate the place was less than half full, so conversation easy. Service was pretty fast, waiter helpful in explaining the specials. Two of us shared the Margherita pizza, which was above average but could have used more basil. Another patron happened by our table and told us if we had sat at the bar, could have paid half price. I don't know if you can sit at the bar on an Open Table reservation, but worth considering.
Saturday nite and crowded. It took a minute for the food to arrive. I personally did not enjoy my meal, little over cooked. I'm a fan of Matchbox and think this was just a busy nite.
Our waiter - Daniel - was great. And in DC, good service is hard to come by.
Great food, great staff, great location! Can’t think how they could improve. So glad they moved in to the neighborhood
It was a good experience
I love Matchbox but have continued to have poor experiences at the Silver Spring location. I typically go back for the food and hope that the service will be better, but last night not even the food was good. We got ribs and the half chicken. Typically my boyfriend loves the ribs, but last night he thought they were less flavorful and poor quality. The half chicken was unseasoned and the mashed potatoes were bland and over whipped. I don’t see going back to this location again, which sucks because it’s across from the movie theater we frequent.
Tonic water versus club soda??? Ordered tonic water twice got club soda. Let it go!!
Appetizers were a long wait. Kitchen tanked!! It was the end of HH so folks were perhaps pushing in last minute orders. Got it. However they did not wait for us to finish before they bring out and put down the entrees. Table was crowded.
Server was lovely attentive and always apologized.
Yes, but, I found the music too loud and the server kept interrupting our conversation which was annoying. He checked on us way too many times!
Food for brunch was great—lots of tapas type choices, and server was lovely!
Daniel provided excellent service, engaging with kids. He gave them dough to play with and then baked it. Food was great. Fries were plentiful. I asked for light on salt and food was perfect. My only complaint is that temperature was warm inside — more A/C!
Went for my husband’s birthday. The service was abysmal (which hints very strongly at poor management), our food wasn’t fired on time between courses, sliders were dry, my food order was wrong and was so garlicky I couldn’t finish it and found myself only eating it to be polite, we had to ask for napkins and silverware 5 minutes into having receiving our appetizers when tables around us were pre-set with them, my husband’s second drink order took 15 minutes for a glass of wine, and when it finally arrived it was the wrong wine. Needless to say we didn’t bother trying to correct the mistake fearing it would take another 15 to receive the correct order. AND no mention from staff about my husband’s birthday at all. We will not be returning. What a waste of a restaurant taking up a great real estate spot in Silver Spring. We couldn’t wait to pay our tab and get out of there.
Our server, Marta, was EXCELLENT! She was very attentive to our needs. Excellent customer service. We will be back.
Kyle was a great server. Food was good though a little salty. My only gripe is that we had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes.
Love this place- especially for brunch...and Isiah is everything! He takes care of us even when we’re not assigned to him. Will be back.
Really enjoyed our dinner here. We came for a small family party. Drinks were great. Food came out pretty quickly. Good variety on the menu. Pizza was awesome
We loved our experience, the great service and ambiance. The food was awesome and the unlimited brunch was great value for the money! Only $28 and the mimosa was also tasty. I’ll definitely do this brunch again, and try new dishes!
Overall a great experience!
They have an unlimited brunch option, which is fantastic - if you do this, there are three breakfast cocktails that are $3/each. I wish they also did unlimited bloodys/mimosas. Lots of good options on the brunch menu.
The food was good, but the service was nonexistent. We got there right when it opened, with only a few customers there, and waited 15 minutes to see a waiter and 25 minutes to get drinks. I never received one of the food items I ordered, asked the waiter again 15 or so minutes after receiving my other selections, and still didn’t receive it. Only after asking the manager when he came to check on our table, did I finally receive the item I had ordered initially, probably 45 minutes after ordering. We had to ask twice for an item my wife had ordered too. The brunch was overpriced given that it was difficult to actually get the items we ordered. It would be nice to have more food selections for the brunch as well. Literally half the menu is taken up with expensive specialty drinks, so it looks like a large menu but really is not. Beware that the pizzas on the brunch menu are huge (albeit delicious), so you’ll be hard pressed to eat more than a couple other selections along with a pizza, so it’s hard to get your $28 worth if you order a pizza. I’d rather have the pizza be smaller to allow trying more items and making it a better value.
Wonderful time out, good clean and tasty food, attentive service.
The spinach artichoke appetizer was not distinctive at all. I would take it off the menu. It was just fine, not exceptional, and the portion of dip wasn’t enough for all the chips — wasn’t enough period for the price
The scallops dish had great flavor but the scallops were too small for the $30+ price tag, and they were a bit over cooked. $24 price point would be better IMO
Meatball pizza and kids meals were great, and loved getting dough for the kids to play with. Waiter was great.
Sunday bunch is worth the money
We needed a pallet jack to get us out of there. The food was delicious.
We enjoyed happy hour drinks, appetizers and prices; our wait staff Carla was fantastic. Quick, efficient and pleasant service.
My waiter was awesome! We received a free appetizer for being time customers. Thanks for the fried risotto balls.
Matchbox's food is always delish!! The half chicken dish is my favorite. Tuna Tare tare yummy!!
Food (sliders, calamari, pizza) arrived cold. Didn’t eat most of it.
it was an amazing experience, my first time at this location for Matchbox. Silver Spring easily became my favorite location with shops close by and adequate parking.
Our waiter, Demetrius was very attentive to the party of 5 who all had a million questions.
The Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Devil Egg and Shredded Cabbage was Outstanding. Lemon Cake dessert was a pleasant treat.
There was a mouse running around!!! Totally unacceptable. Children were sitting on the floor and a mouse was running around
I've eaten at various matchbox locations multiple times and normally enjoy the pizza but the pizza on Saturday night was not good. I had the spicy meatball pizza which I normally love. The meatballs had no flavor or spice and were rubbery - didn't even seem like meat - and even when I removed the meatballs from the pizza the rest of the pizza just did not taste good. It was very disappointing.
Good food, good service, and good ambiance. Can't beat their brunch.
On a Saturday afternoon, we could choose between a lunch or a brunch menu, unusual but delightful! Food was great, service attentive, and we will be back!
It was great. No issues. The food was delicious and served hot. Great service. Friendly staff.
Love Matchbox and the Silver Spring location is no exception
The food was very disappointing, not what I was expecting because I've been to the Matchbox on Rockville Pike. I had a glass of the mixed grape Happy Hour red wine special, which was too sweet. Ordered fig/prosciutto/blue cheese pizza, which was so salty it was almost inedible. Surprising, because pizza is the Matchbox 'specialty' -- oven baked, etc.-- but it was simply blah, cooked too-salty dough. I would not return.
This is my second time to eat at this location. The food was great, the service was terrible this time. Slow service, didn’t get my order correct, it took over 20 minutes to receive my incorrect order.
