Matchbox - Sawgrass Mills
Sawgrass Mills is a shopper’s paradise, and our dining oasis offers plenty of space for intimate dinners, large parties and get-togethers on two expansive levels. Each level has tree-lined patios, unrivaled people-watching, a full menu, plus fire pits for cozy South Florida nights.
Inside, a private 8-seat chef’s table overlooks all the action in the kitchen, and every seat in the house is treated to dramatic views of the bar and exhibition kitchen.

The restaurant itself was very nice. The only issue we had was that the service was lacking. Our server's English was very broken, so we had a difficult time understanding him. They also had him servicing multiple tables all across the restaurant so to get his attention was difficult.
Overall food was good. Had to send our chips back that came with spinach and artichoke dip as they were stale.
Food was very good, had a very nice outdoor eating area, good service from the waitress Jess. The only problem was Matchbox is a little pricey
Went here for valentines ask for a table inside or upstairs the ambiance is much nicer had a great time food was great and the service was great we both got the steak and I’d definitely go back
Like all of the other reviews, the service is terrible. We were seated for almost 15 minutes before a waiter asked if we had been helped. He took our drink order. The drinks did not come for another 25 minutes. So we were seated for almost 40 minutes with no drinks. 10 minutes after that the waiter returned to take our order. We were seated for 50 minutes before we were asked to place our order. I have never seen such bad service and there were lots of empty tables. It wasn’t that busy. Food was ok but overpriced. It took another 30 minutes after ordering to receive our food. The experience was appalling .
The service was extremely poor, as the drinks and food were overwhelmingly late. My food arrived after my family was almost done eating.
The service was extremely poor. We had to wait 20 mins to order and then had to ask for plates and silverware. It seemed disorganized.
Was a good place for valentines dinner. Good food and atmosphere. Would go back to try more dishes.
The food arrived cold at the table, the server just stop by to take the order and give me the check, the few employees that talk to me blame the Management.
That place used to be a nice restaurant, but now is going down !
Service wasn’t good, very slow and lack of attentiveness. Food was just - ok.
Service very slow
Great date night
Thank you for the 5-stars! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Very disappointed with service. Waited 15 mins for them tk find a clean wine glass!! It was only 7pm on Valentines day. We're you not prepared? Slow, slow service.
Took an hour to get appetizers. Food just average. Mini burger sliders were actually micro mini burgers. Spinach dip was good.
Not gourmet but very good food
Inside is very loud outside eating was very nice and much more quiet
First at Matchbox traveling for NHL game. We will be back because of great food, service and atmosphere. It is hard to park around Sawgrass Mills but worth the effort.
Great atmosphere, good food, server was always helpful
Sat at the bar which was less than busy, for 25 minutes before getting greeted. 4 bartenders and a manager walked by a handful of times just looked and kept walking. Finally someone comes and puts menus in front of us on a dirty wet bar, doesn’t even wipe it from the people who were there before us. The bar staff seems to need a lot more training on basic bartending/hospitality 101
Everything about this place was just okay. Nothing wow’d us.
Things started poorly when hostess said no tables were available for outside dining when we could see two tables clearly visible. When acknowledged she said table just needed to be cleaned - 5 mins. Went to bar and was forgotten. 20 minutes later, went back to hostess and waited for table. Ordered appetizer, salads and entrees for four. Salads came in 5 minutes. Appetizer at 20 mins and entrees at 25 mins. Food was good as usual but service was an issue.
Waitress was very friendly and helpful! I was extremely unimpressed with my meal: I ordered med/well steak & egg whites and the steak was very well done, zero pink and tasteless. The ginger pineapple mimosa was excellent though! I will not return
Great atmosphere. Good variety of options/food
Need to work on service, long waits for waiter, drinks etc. food is good.
Excellent food, good service. Love the table around the pit.
This restaurant was OK. Nothing great. We felt the menu was very limited, we couldn’t find anything we really wanted that night. We ended up ordering the spinach and artichoke dip as an app, which was very good and cheesy!, a pizza and spaghetti. The pizza was average and the spaghetti was decent. Overall the food wasn’t bad, just the options were.
We made a reservation on a Saturday night, but didn’t need it as it was surprisingly slow. We spent $120 including the tip and just felt we could’ve spent $120 on somewhere better. Not sure if we will be back :-/
The service was excellent! Our server Santiago was very attentive and informative. Superb!!!
Nice place to go for a casual meal. Good food, drink and service in a nice ambiance.
We were there during happy hour and really enjoyed our drinks & small plates. Loved the mini burgers with the string onions on top! Would like to go back and try their regular menu items.
Bad service, food took ages and came out cold.
As someone who has patronized seven of the Matchbox restaurants in the Washington DC area, I was interested in visiting the Sawgrass Mills branch. When it opened, it represented the company's vision of opening huge restaurants in high-traffic suburban locales across the country. How well did it work? Consider that, after this branch was opened, the company was sold, some of its other brands were spun off, and the most recent Matchbox restaurants are smaller establishments close to DC.
The two-story Sawgrass Mills, encompassing several different rooms, is enormous. Even on one of the busiest shopping days of the year -- the Sunday before Christmas, when throngs filled the Sawgrass Mills parking lots and caused cell service to deteriorate -- we had no problems booking a lunch reservation an hour in advance. Once, Matchbox offered slightly different menus at its different restaurants. No more: the menu we were handed in Florida on Sunday was the same as the one we viewed in the Matchbox two blocks from our DC home the prior Tuesday.
Matchbox does offer a consistent product: our Florida pizzas tasted just like the ones back home. Which was fine with us.
Really enjoy happy hour here. We went on a Saturday, not realizing they don't have Happy Hour. Oh well, still a lot of fun. Great food, and cocktails. However, much pricier when cocktails, and apps aren't discounted.
The food took over 40 minutes after ordering for our appetizer came out. But the Manager took care and when I got our wings and food out right afterwards
The food was extremely expensive and not worth it at all. A simple soup took almost 45 mins to come out. The waiter hardly came back to our table, until it was time to get the check. When they messed up the food, we ended up ordering something else and of couse they never took the incorrect thing off the bill until i asked for a manager.
Service is never consistent- one time you can have good service and the next you have terrible service. Service has never been exceptional- but it’s a local restaurant for us. The manager shouldn’t be a manager - never came back to explain what was going on with the order. Appetizer came out that even the waitress said it didn’t look good/correct. After 30 minutes of sitting and waiting for our drinks and new appetizer we left! Will never go back!
The Entree portions are small but the flavors are good
Food and cocktails are excellent. Happy Hour was a real pleasure. The apps were very reasonable with good portions, and very tasty. Will definitely be returning.
Always great service at Matchbox. The brunch options are amazing. Service Amazing. This team is trained very well. Good Job !
The brunch is absolutely incredible. It's all-you-can-eat and there are a decent amount of choices. The plates are tapas style and thus, you will be ordering a lot of food. The server was really nice and accommodating. He even helped clean up a couple of drink spills. The food came out timely and it tasted pretty good. The pizza and chicken and waffles are the top two choices (in my opinion). This brunch is one of the best around and I definitely suggest checking it out.
Food was mediocre at best as was the service. I had to speak with the manager regarding the condition of the ladies bathroom, which was disgusting, obviously not being attended to at all. Very disappointed overall.
