Matchbox - Short Pump
New at matchbox: brunchbox, our new unlimited brunch with small plates and drinks. Think: an endless selection of dishes like our avocado toast, breakfast nachos, chicken + grits and, of course, any of our small pizzas.
The jewel of Short Pump Town Center, our two-story, light-filled refuge offers fuel for shopping, with an indoor/outdoor bar that brings the warm weather in.
Two soaring levels mean there’s plenty of space for intimate dinners, large parties and get-togethers. Every seat in the house has a unique experience, but everyone is treated to outdoor, panoramic views of the lake and bustling streets of Short Pump.

They changed their brunch options, so if you want brunch food you have to do the unlimited brunch. You have to choose if you want only brunch or only lunch food and can’t mix across the two sides.
Great place for a family dinner
Great lunch at Matchbox. Have been to a few locations in northern VA / DC area but first time to the RVA location. Great atmosphere. Excellent service (thanks, Tyler). Food was great. Great pizzas! Will be back for sure.
Good food and service, friendly staff, good portion size for the price of the meal. The efforts by the service staff member to ensure we had a pleasant dining experience were greatly appreciated.
Good but food could’ve be warmer and service was good but not great
very nice atmosphere, staff was nice, thinking of having my bday dinner here
This is my favorite restaurant in the country. We first ate at a Matchbox in D.C. over a year ago and the experience was so memorable. Fast forward to this past weekend and we were os pleasantly surprised to find one on a weekend away to Richmond. There were SO many choices around the hotel but after we spotted Matxhbox we knew there was only one choice. Our server the first evening was exceptional... so much so that we decided to ask (beg) the Manager to help us accommodate our soccer team (40 people, kids and adults) the following evening. Unanimously voted a success by our group. Great servers, & management. This place is a MUST TRY!
Great service and food. Will go again!!
Nice choices, reasonable prices, good service. Dependable for a lunch or dinner with friends or family.
Our server was amazing and attentive.
Wish they had a lunch menu. $ for lunch.
We tried Matchbox because we saw they had wood fired pizza. The pizza was good. My husband had the ribs and he said they were delicious. The corn bread was out of this world and the arancini were also delicious. Definitely will be going back!
Great food! Very fresh tasting.
I had a great time with friends. While our server was very good, I was surprise was that she never mentioned Happy Hour and we arrived at 5:30. I like that the restaurant serves Happy Hour drinks and food at tables, not just at the bar, but I think both menus should be offered when seated.
Food was great but service really lacked. Our waitress was not very observant to the table and we had to ask several times for refills on waters. I ordered a Southern Charm drink and it was more Jim Beam watered down but none of the other flavors were present in the drink. I think we would come back in the future when I am in town again but just hope to have better service.
We went for quick dinner before a 7:00 movie on a Friday night. We arrived at 5:30 and had the choice of many different sizes of tables. We were only 5 people but they have 3 round type booths that can each fit a dozen people. Going to remember that for larger gatherings! The wait staff were all delightfully attentive, just enough chatting and checking -perfect. The cocktails were made well and they didn’t skimp on the booze. The fig and Prosciutto pizza is amazing! Calamari was tender on the inside crunchy light batter on the outside. We were out with plenty of time to get to our movie. The place was packed and loud on our way out. We will be back for sure!
Enjoyed dining here with a good friend. Happy hour specials are a deal if you go between 4-7 weekdays. Must ask for happy hour menu, not told about unless u ask. Prices are much cheaper. Good quality food and drinks. Highly recommend 😊
Made it for happy hour. Great deals.
It was very nice
Food was okay . Nothing great, nothing poor.
Service was fine although my 85 year old mother got her meal last,5
Minutes after everyone else.
New Year Brunch
Food is very expensive for what you get.
Matchbox is hit or miss sometimes. Generally everyone is nice. Our sliders where overcooked as the option is pink or no-pink. We selected pink and got ones that I think were past well done. It wasn’t super busy which sometimes effects service in my opinion as our server was nice but wasn’t super attentive to our table as there wasn’t much going on in her section. The food is generally good and we will be back again however we just don’t go as often because of the inconsistency of service and food.
Great start to a Christmas light tour night. Happy Hour we a great start to a very nice dinner Service was great.
I've eaten at Matchbox several times and thought it was very good, but based on my dinner experience two nights ago I doubt that I will be back. My date's salmon was overcooked and my shrimp and grits was very soupy. But worst of all was the noise. They had a singer performing who had his amp and microphone turned up so loud that he drowned out all possibility of conversation. We asked if he could be a little quieter and the manager came to our table to say she had spoken to him about it. But the volume level never changed. I don't understand why some restaurants think it's a good idea to provide live music. If you want music, go to a club. When you are in a restaurant you want conversation.
Service was fine. Food was not. One pizza was undercooked and the other was burned (crust and pepperoni were black). It was my daughters birthday, so I didn’t complain, but I think the waitress was surprised that I didn’t. She looked apologetic when she put the pizzas on the table. Frankly, she should have taken them back to the kitchen. Dessert was fine, but no candle or anything to make my daughter feel special. (I had requested a candle and was told they didn’t have any, not even a happy birthday).
Won’t go back.
Great venue upstairs for a large group dinner. Our waitress was wonderful! And quick delivery of foods.
Delicious Shrimp and Grits. The appetizer size was a good size for an entree. My husband had a BBQ bacon burger, and he said it was terrific. Great beer and wine selection. We'll definitely be back.
Fun evening, loved the music! Food, service and atmosphere was enjoyable. Appreciated being able to order from happy hour menu without sitting in the bar. More places need to be able to do that. Will go again.
This visit was our first, and we can’t wait to come back. We’ve been to many of the restaurants close by a lot so it was nice to try something different. The food and the service were great. Both the salmon salad and the chicken pesto pizza were delish.
Love Matchbox their pizza is awesome! Everything we get there is very good.
Love the Happy Hour and the appitizers especially the spinach and artichoke dip with the bread.
We loved it! The wedge salad was great and my friend’s burger sliders were terrific, especially with all the divine onion straws!
Can’t wait to go back!
Easy to schedule - this was the second of consecutive "day after Thanksgiving" family lunches last year and this - 13 of our family enjoyed our 2 hour stay -- the brunch menu and regular lunch were both available this year -- the brunch menu is extensive and, all you can eat, but initially struck me as too pricy - overall quality was good and enjoyed by our family
Fun and good food! Give it a try, something for everyone on the menu.
Very expensive for the size and quantity of food.
The service was very good and ambiance was also nice. The food was just ok, I had the crab cake sandwich and it left a lot to be desired. There are a lot of restaurants so while there was nothing “wrong” or particularly negative about my experience I’ll probably go somewhere else in the future.
Had a very unfortunate experience here which makes me question current management, who made no effort to correct the situation.
When making reservations in advance you should be able to assume that these tables will be indoors when the tables are wet, the reservation time is after dark, and the outdoor temp is 60 or below.
I recommend you avoid.
Food came out at different times and some of it was cold. Coffee was also cold. Ambiance is nice. Menu had slot of options.
Points off for service as our child want given silverware and a napkin despite requests. Also all 3 of us had very sweaty beverages and only given one cocktail napkin after asking for paper napkins.
