Food was good. Nice bar areas indoor and outdoor.
Went for brunch for a birthday meal. Everyone ordered a different meal from the brunch menu. It was all good except for the scrambled eggs on my All American breakfast. They were watery and tasted like not real eggs. I told the manager and he said he would relay this info to the chef.
We had a very nice dinner. Our server was excellent, the food was delicious (and I am picky), the playlist was enjoyable. I particularly liked the fact that there was space between the diners.
it was great! excellent service and excellent food!
appetizers were great pizzas could use more marinara sauce and steak and fries entree could use more flavor great setting though
Upon arrival outside host/manager tried to streamline our requested outside reservation to inside seating, this was corrected and a table was cleared outside. Waiter was new and understandably less experienced so we were patient, however when food arrived order was wrong. Waiter understood the error and presumably made corrections. Some time later, Manager approached us with same set of issues that had already been made clear with waiter, this process further delayed our food arrival. Meanwhile 1/2 of our order was on the table and the other half was being redone. After significant delay, balance of food arrived. Flow of the meal was poor. Food quality was excellent. Wait staff new and inexperienced. Manager intervention poor. No service recovery was offered which was most disappointing after a botched meal.
Great outdoor experience with excellent food and service!
Fish was “fishy smelling” and not fresh, wrong food prepared for order and replacement meal took excessively long, very loud and difficult to carry on a conversation with people at our table. Overall a very poor experience.
This restaurant has 2 different experiences. We made a reservation for an evening with nice weather. When we got there, the outside seating was very vibrant and busy. We were told they did not have enough staffing to put us out there even though there were tables. When we went inside it was completely dead and we were the only ones eating in the restaurant at one point on a Friday night. When we went to leave the outside area had live music and we stayed for a drink. They should make you aware when you take the time to make a reservation of the area you may be seating or make it a priority to put you where you want to be.
Although I had gotten an email confirming my reservation, I couldn't find it when we got to Matchbox and the receptionist didn't have my name on her list. So we sat at the bar. Then I found it and I showed it to them, she found my name and said she had given that reservation to someone else. Huh? Everyone was extremely busy, rushing around. Obviously they need more help. We were very patient but it took quite a while to place our order and get our drinks. The salads were great (Caesar and simple side) , the pizza was good and I enjoyed the roasted mushrooms. I specifically asked for the 6 oz pour of wine but was charged for the 9 oz. Our server fixed that and I gave a 20% tip.
Food was great, employees all very friendly. I hate paying $14 for a mixed drink.
It was a bad night for match box, didn’t have several things that we ordered, brought two pizzas to our table that we hadn’t ordered. Drinks are expensive, food was good.
Our first experience was better than this time. Had taken a friend there for birthday ordered peanut butter pie and they came back saying they were out of it. We had gone early so shouldn’t have been out of anything or else told us up front.
Our waiter who i failed to remember his name was fantastic.
Outdoor setting pleasant visually, but because of location, super noisy even before the restaurant's music plays. Construction, mowing, sirens, etc. make it a less than ideal place for conversation. We were there for an early lunch...maybe things are quieter after work hours.
Indoor seating might be better, but as one who can't take the vaccine, I have to do outdoor settings.
The personal pizzas each of us ordered were crisp and tasty, but overall the prices for lunch are higher than we like.
The staff and service was outstanding...attentive but not intrusive and our server had a great personality and sense of humor.
Matchbox was amazing! Our server was funny, attentive, and fast! They even validated our parking. The Strawberry Basil Smash was soooo good! Will def go again.
This was our first time and the food and service were excellent. We will be back. However, the metrocenter there is doing your restaurant a great disservice, because they don't seem to be ready for guests. There are no signs where to enter to find the correct parking area for the restaurant, so many may not find you.
The noise level was too high. Also, prices were surprisingly high. Everything thing else was good.
The food was good but my entree was brought at same time as appetizer.
Service was slow but we were warned by manager that they were short-staffed which was nice to know up front
We ordered appetizers and pizza and the pizza came out before the appetizers. It was weird. Everything was tasty though. For what it is, though, it is very pricey. I guess that's just inflation and the high cost of living in Reston, but I would probably go somewhere else next time.
Certainly still getting their staff trained . Took forever to get water refills , and another round of drinks . My pizza was lukewarm , which is ok for pizza m but told me it sat for a while . Halfway through service it’s seemed to click , our second round of drinks and dessert came out quickly . Waters were refilled promptly .
We were four gals looking for a great restaurant for a lunch where we could catch up. We found it at Matchbox. The hostess, manager, and our lovely server Dana were so accommodating in making sure we were comfortable. We didn’t intend to be high maintenance (we never do lol) but ended up checking out four different tables before settling in outside under a nice umbrella (inside is kind of chilly temperature-wise and the music was loud for quiet conversation). Even though it was a warm day, there’s a great cross breeze on their patio. Food was just delicious. We will definitely be back.
Our server, Jaime, was excellent! Personable and attentive. We sat in the pleasant outdoor area on a beautiful evening with a great breeze. Unfortuntely, we had wandered in on the very first day this location was open, and the kitchen timing was way off. Appetizers were served at the same time as the meals, and my pizza was not even warm. The quality and taste of the Matchbox food is really very good (though it does feel a tad expensive for what it is). They just need to work out the new location kinks. We’ll check it out again in a couple of months.
