Matchbox - Preston Hollow
At the corner of Walnut Hill and Central Expressway in vibrant Preston Hollow Village is our dining oasis with a wraparound patio. A fireplace at the front entry is just a taste of the crackling fires that power our pizza ovens. Take a seat at the pizza bar, and watch hot, bubbling pies make their debut.
The private Barrel Room, named for its vaulted ceiling that resembles barrel rings, accommodates 30 guests with comfortable seating, a wood-burning fireplace and plenty of space for large parties and get-togethers.

Amazing experience as always great service.
Good overall. Very good thin crust pizza. The calamari appetizer was outstanding.
Noisy restaurant, good service and the food is OK.
Nice place but we were seated all the way in back after passing tons of empty tables. Booth cover had huge rip and missing material.
I tried the pizza for the first time and it was really good. The rest of the menu is so tempting that I had opted for other entree on previous visits. Now my choice will be really difficult.
I want to like Matchbox but I am struggling. There is nothing on the menu that sets them apart. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but often I struggle with what to order especially if I don't want a pizza or burger. The service is hit or miss. The crab and avo was my favorite go-to item on the menu but they changed the recipe. On my last visit, I wanted to bring my daughter home some pasta, she's a vegetarian. I asked if they had veggie pasta. He said no. So I had to order something to go from another restaurant and pick it up on the way home. I know they have pasta and I know they have veggies for pizzas I am sure they could have thrown some pasta, mushrooms, artichokes and diced tomatoes together for me. Too often businesses put too many constraints on employees and don't allow them to find solutions that will work for both.
The food (Chicken and waffles) was delicious. The mimosa was on point. Great customer service at the bar.
I have eaten there 4-5 times it have never met my expectations in food.
Food is always amazing every time I visit, with friends or family.
Had a great waiter! He was so attentive and took care of all our requests. The grilled tuna salad was good but a bit pricey for the quality of the greens.
Cosmos are some of the best in Dallas!!
I have been here several times and my review would be one star if I had not. If all my dinners had been like this one, it would have been one star without a recommendation. Our food was mediocre, at best and the service was really bad - our server did not know specials pricing or whether they could do anything special we asked with a particular dish. She then brought our check with the dessert menu - while we were still eating our entrees. The restaurant was almost empty as we were eating early so there was no need to try and rush us out the door. This was, by far, the worst experience I have had here and the other ones have been good so I will give it another try. Hopefully, this is not a trend that will continue.
Food is good. A little skimpy yet good. Price a bit high. Noisy. Service was spotty
Awesome date night, seated right away. Waiter was fast and very friendly. Manager Alexis was great, came to introduce himself and made sure we were good. Will definitely go back soon.
Really disappointed. My friend & I went specifically for happy hour & 4 of the 5 wines on happy hour were out and they had no substitutions. We could order rosé or full price wine. When I asked about substitutions I was told I should come back tomorrow, to which I responded “but I’m here and I made reservations for today! Why would I come back tomorrow?”
Greta restaurant for a fun night with friends. Have a great private room for parties too! Love the gluten free pizza crust!
We like the variety of options. The service good but not great.
This may be my new favorite lunch location.
We were there during happy hour but were charged for full price drinks (from happy hour menu). Sadly we did not catch the mistake until we got home.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Always an enjoyable experience each time!
The service was awful. They were not organize who was going to serve us. We waited for a long time to just get water and place an order. They have a very large brunch menu which was nice.
Met a friend there for a late lunch. Since it was after the lunch crowd rush, we had plenty of time to chat without feeling rushed. The food was good and the servers were polite and attentive.
The food and service was very good. However, we were seated in a "booth" built underneath the staircase. It had seats that prevented leaning back and there was NO cushion on the hard wood seats. Very uncomfortable. i would not accept this booth if dining there again!
Solid classic “American grill” food. Noise is tough on “older” ears but I still go. Pizzas, pastas are respectable. Crab/avocado appetizer is awesome. Wish they had antibiotic free protein options. Antibiotic free Chicken is ubiquitous.
Our fav date spot! Pizza is delicious! 🙌🏻
Good food and service. The only complaint is the noise level. Unless you’re dining solo, don’t expect to be able to have a conversation at your table unless you almost yell.
Great place! Server was really great and accommodating. Old favorite place of mine.
I have been maybe 10 times...each time the service, food and atmosphere has been awesome. My favorite appetizer is a tie between the meatball and the calamari - both are awesome. So many good meals and the bread is fantastic. A must try
We tried the brunchbox and got a lot of amazing food. It is pricey but it was with it!
We were seated seated in an area with too many children that were a bit noisy - should have asked to be moved like another couple that came in - but we made it through.
It was a great meal.
Food is good - service is just “ok” and the acoustics are terrible. So loud in the dining room.
Great food and service. Love the ambiance of the restaurant, as well!
My 5th visit in 6 days. My cocktail is always prepared to perfection. I had the small pesto chicken flatbread to which I add red sauce. Loved by me and my friends. They had the sliders and a fried chicken Cobb and were very happy. A fun time was had by all!
The waiter helped with food and drink selections.
Cool ambiance and relaxed atmosphere.
We will be back!
I brought 2 other friends today and I love dining in the bar where “everybody knows your name”......and your cocktail I might add! We had sliders with lots of onion hay/straws on top and a burger. As always fun and delicious and a great place to meet our neighbors in Preston Hollow Village and nearby :-)
Thank you so much for the review Jan! We're so pleased you enjoyed your dining experience and hope to see you soon!
Matchbox is my “Cheers” and I was there 5 times in the past 6 days. Brunch is the only disappointment I have ever had there. The reason for this is I was interested in avocado toast or perhaps a couple of poached eggs with wheat toast. I could have had that for $31 if I ordered from the unlimited small plates “Buffet”. The only problem was I merely wanted a reasonably healthy breakfast and everything on the a la Carte menu was heavy and unhealthy. Nothing really appealed and there was no exception to the $31 menu. So I had the Salmon and spinach salad, an item I love but eat all of the time. I guess I won’t be going aback for weekend breakfasts. If you want to spend $31, the food looked delicious at a nearby table.
They have really raised prices lately. The food is good but definitely overpriced now.
good food and service, friendly atmosphere. great menu
Great drinks, very good food, very loud
My experience was overall a good one. Service was a bit slow and there wasn’t much of a crowd, so I didn’t understand why we had to wait so long. Other than that, no complaints! The food was flavorful and drinks were yummy too! I’ll be going back again...maybe happy hour!
