Matchbox in Pentagon City is a fantastic place to grab a bite, whether you're in the mood for their signature thin-crust pizzas or a hearty brunch. The atmosphere is lively, the service is attentive, and the food quality is consistently impressive. However, while the brunch menu offers delicious options, the pricing feels a bit steep—especially considering that mimosas aren't included. With so many places offering bottomless brunch deals, it would be great to see Matchbox incorporate a similar perk to enhance the value.

Maybe my mistake was falling for Instagram hype, but this did not come close to living up to what was hyped. The food we ordered wasa not great and the taco bar was just ok. They said their cotton candy machine was broken, so there went the highlight for our toddler. If you are a seafood lover, the bang for your buck is the snow crab pasta dish. The only decent item was the ice cream bar but the overall experience was definitely not worth $62 per person. Speaking of which, I'm not sure why they charge $62 at this Pentagon City location but other locations are $45 or less? The only good thing I can say about this place was the service was friendly.

Quality of food is awful! Music is too loud. You can’t hear the server. Outside ambiance it great. Staff seems aware of poor food quality.

We sat as a group of 3 to enjoy the much promoted unlimited brunch. When the waitress took 15 minutes just to greet us, we started to leave but stayed. Big mistake. The food was delayed, cold, and, congealed. None of the food matched the ads seen on social media. The stuffed French toast were not stuffed, the seafood pasta only had the crab legs, not the sausage or shrimp that was advertised. My friend did not have any sauce for the catfish and grits and when she asked the waiter, she didn’t know what we were talking about. There was not 1 plate that we finished in its entirety, because it simply was not good. The atmosphere was decent and they started playing music around 3:00 pm which was nice. It wasn’t overly crowded and we were sat exactly at our reservation time.

The price is DOUBLE the price from other matchboxes and the food is horrible! The waitress was pleasant, but they are running so much food that they got confused multiple times of what food went to which table. For $80 I will not be going back to this location. Again, the food was HORRIBLE!

This brunch is a great value. Our server Alexa was awesome. Everything was delicious except for the waffles. The waffles were cooked too hard and left under a light. When brought to the attention of the server cooking the waffles he seemed dismissive. Also remove the tortillas from under the light. They were also hard. I would recommend this brunch but not the waffles.

Upon opening the door we were hit with extremely loud music. The buffet consists of make-it-yourself tacos and waffles. You can get crab legs only if you order the seafood pasta. They will bring you one order of crab legs alone without pasta but if you want more crab legs you have to order the pasta. This seems like a waste since the pasta sits there uneaten. The crab legs were served without a cracker device to crack open the shells. The crab legs were served without a plate or bowl to put the shells. The bloody Mary's were okay but did not have the promised bacon or Old Bay rim. The crab soup was good, however. The price is reasonable and this would be an okay place for a twenty-something just starting out eating brunch. My partner and I witnessed older, 40ish customers walk in and walk out immediately, even with reservations. We stayed but will never go back. If you like deafening music and skinny crab legs then, this is the place for you.
