I dined here with me and my sister. The service was spectacular, the waiter was amazing, his recommendations where out of this world. Definitely a go to once a week.

Great sheltered/covered patio area that still has good air flow as a truly outdoor dining space.

Excellent dinner experience! Heading home after a daylong road trip, we were looking for a spot to stop for dinner and were able to reserve a table for 2 on Open Table. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately, noticing COVID safety precautions in place, including masks worn by staff and socially distanced seating. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered burgers, wine and beer. Burgers were perfectly well done, yet still juicy and tasty. We also requested ranch dressing, which was as good as we remembered, and an excellent condiment for the fries. While a patron seated across the way chose to speak in an elevated tone so everyone could hear his conversation, the volume in the restaurant was otherwise mellow. We fully enjoyed our meal and hope that future visits will be as great!

Valentines dinner. Overall it was good, our server was very sweet even though she was noticeably busy. Entrees came out before app, no problem. It was taken care of. My bf and I are human so we understand the occasion/holiday reflected our experience but we left happy. Thanks!

Please note, Match Box has a limited menu compared to the menu found on websites such as Yelp or OpenTable. Quite naturally, the impact of the pandemic has affected how businesses are operating. That being said, there is still no excuse for the poor execution of a menu item. My significant other ordered a Salmon dish and the rice was hard and my Ceasar salad was cold and wilted. Our drinks were bland. Also, Match Box has "little" to "no" vegetarian options. Our dessert was the most satisfying part of our meal. The expresso brownie was delicious. Given the cost of Match Box's menu items, the quality and execution should be significantly better.

Hector our waiter was the star of the show. He was extremely attentive. Food was good, drinks were great.

Good was good, service was decent. Had a great restaurant week menu

Everything was great! Came in for a 12pm reservation at 11:58am on a Tuesday and was seated upstairs immediately. There was someone waiting at the top of the steps to sit us and my server came to the table a couple of minutes later. The area is set up to be seated socially distant but there was only one other table being occupied on the other side of the upstairs section. I was slightly disappointed because of the limited menu, I had my mind set on something I’d had several times before COVID, but I quickly found joy in the pound cake French toast and all was well! The service was great and so was the leftovers later in the day lol.

We come here often because it has never failed us...till today. Even though they changed the sides for their famous chicken breast they have let us change back to the normal sides. Today they wanted to charge $10 more to get the potatoes & vegetables. I got the pepperoni pizza that was burnt and my wife got a steak that was so over cooked it was tuff and cold fries. Our waitress was the bartender and she was terrible! I had to get up and walk to the bar for a drink refill because she was too busy joking with the rest of the staff. Never checked on the food and only brought the tab when she saw us put out coats on. I understand COVID-19 has been tuff on restaurants but this is how you loose your favorite clients. Hopefully they get it right soon or they will be off this repeat customers favorites list.

First time eating there and the serve was great. Will definitely be back.

We visit Matchbox multiple times per year. We find the food to be consistent and good, especially for the money. Always a good ambiance and certainly very few people dining in during COVID restrictions. This was our first time at this location and the service was awesome and the food also good. We will continue to come back - love the pizzas.

Nothing special. Service was good, food just ok, pricey for what you get.

Went for brunch and it was only one other person eating so that was a big plus for me, especially with everything going on. Order the American skillet and it was amazing. Definitely enjoyed myself.

This is my go to when I come for shopping at the Pentagon city mall. Love the food and the atmosphere. The staff is very polite and helpful.

We went to there on the spur of the moment. The food and drinks did not disappoint. Definitely enjoyed the pizza and heard compliments from our guests on the tuna tacos

This was my first experience at a Matchbox and the service was excellent. Our server was overly kind and accommodating. I ordered the Salmon spinach salad and the fish was cooked perfectly and I got their special Watermelon cocktail it was delish! Highly recommend

Cool vibe great food

Great food and ambiance, not loud at all. The server kept forgetting about us though and we saw him chatting with the bartender instead of coming to help us more than once.

The food was terrible. I don’t see what people like about this place. The location is great but the food is mediocre. I had the shrimp with old bay fries. You can get the shrimp at the grocery store (Seapak) and the old bay fries needed way more seasoning and they were hard.

Outdoor dining was great - weather was perfect and the heaters were on since it was a bit chilly! I remember the days pre-COVID when this place was so crowded inside, so it's kind of sad now to see it completely empty! I believe inside is opened up, but no one chooses to eat inside. I'm sure it's safe, given the guidelines. The only "off" thing was our server had his mask down a bit below his nose.

Customer service was terrible.

This was really disappointing. We LOVE matchbox, but this was our first time going to the Pentagon City location. We got in early for our reservation and were seated relatively quickly, but then we didn't get seen for about 15 minutes even to get waters. The place is operating at half capacity for COVID but they weren't crowded by any means. By the time someone came to see us, it wasn't our waitress but someone she asked to take our order for her. He took our full order - drinks, appetizers, and dinner - wrote nothing down. We got our appetizers about 15 minutes after that. Everything was great, but we still hadn't been seen by our original waitress, and no one else came to our table for the next 30 minutes. So we'd been there an hour already and still hadn't gotten our meals, our waitress walked by our table, my husband got her attention and asked about the status of our food. She was so surprised and said "OMG you haven't gotten your food yet? What did you order?" So she hadn't even checked before then to make sure our order had been put in by the guy she called in for help, and even while walking by our table serving others in our section, she never came to even check that everything was good or if we needed anything, let alone notice that we sat at an empty table without food for a good half hour after we finished our appetizers. We told her what we ordered, she went and checked the computer AND STARTED PUTTING IN THE ORDER. Our order had never even been entered before then, and by now we'd been there for over an hour. So we just asked for the check to leave since we didn't feel like waiting longer, and she gave us a little discount which was fine but honestly, we ordered two soups and a dip - the whole thing probably should've been comped. Once she gave us the check she offered a drink "on the house" to make up for everything, I'm 7 months (blatantly) pregnant, so not really a consolation prize there. Needless to say, and sadly, we won't be going back there.

We had a good time. The food and drinks was good. The food didn’t taker long to come. We were spaced out from other tables. I had aaa good birthday.

This is my friend and I’s favorite place to meet up and catch up. Food is always good!

The food was tasty and came out quickly. The server had a very nice attitude but overall service was slow. The drinks took a long time and came out at the same time as all the food. Once the food arrived we had no plates and had to wait before starting to eat. I understand they are probably short staffed due to COVID, but staff seems stretched too thin and it is impacting service.
