This was our 1st visit and we will be back. Arrived early for our reservation and was seated right away. Our waiter Roberto was phenomenal! He recommended a great wine to pair with each of our meals and was super prompt.
The food was good. I’m really funny about shrimp and grits and this serving was on point. The grits were creamy and the shrimp were cooked just right.
The dessert was super tasty. Roberto stayed it would take a little longer since it was made fresh, and it came out in no time.
Enjoyed our dinner with friends at MatchBox. The food tasted great, and was fresh, my steak was cooked perfectly. My salad was fresh and flavorful and my wife's soup was served hot, not warm as some restaurants do. It can be a little loud, but while seated the noise level was pleasant enough.
Food was good with many great sounding things to choose from. Service was excellent - Hailey is a gem!
Very nice. We were seated immediately. The waitstaff was very attractive.
Noise level way to high to have a conversation - I would not call it energetic for a lunchtime crowd couldn't conduct a conversation or business.
Went there for dinner at 7:00 and was seated in the bar area. It was so loud that we could not carry on a conversation. We left as soon as we finished our meal. They shouldn't seat people for dinner in the bar area.
We were there for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was SO noisy we could barely hold a conversation. Alcoholic drink pours were terrible. If you are going to charge as much as you do for drinks fill the glass, anything less than that is a rip off.
Matchbox is one or our favorites in Ashburn. We like sitting in the bar area. A little more energetic vibe. Chandler was our waiter and he was great.
Food was pretty good. The portions are a good size, too. The only criticism is that we ordered Bloody Mary’s and they didn’t have the mix. Then we ordered a beer and they didn’t have that one, either. They did comp us with a free drink, but it was disappointing they didn’t have either of the other two.
Our waiter, Drew was amazing! The best brunch I’ve ever had!
Food was excellent
Waiter was outstanding - unfortunately we had a very extended wait time for him to arrive to our table. The manager showed up immediately to make amends for the error and she was quite professional.
I have no hesitation returning! I rate it a 4.5
Great meal with my daughter and it was nice that the weather was great and they have so much available outdoor seating. We will go back with the rest of the family for special occasions.
Customer service at the front reception is still disappointing. Asked to sit outside and was told a quoted answer. There were tables outside just not cleared but was told “no tables were Avaialble .. that was the reason we chose this restaurant was to enjoy the outside seating.
My daughter and her friends were there for a homecoming dinner (10 of them). The manager there was able to accommodate another group of 5 girls (separate reservation) by putting them at a table nearby. Hugo, the waiter, was awesome to the girls!!! When serving that many teenagers, he must have had a lot of patience. Besides that, it was one of the girl's birthdays and her mother brought a cake in. He was considerate enough to find us parents at the bar to ask if it was a surprise or not. I know he worked hard that night and as a parent of one of the girls, I really appreciate his attentiveness and friendly personality. I would definitely recommend Matchbox and if you're lucky enough to have Hugo serve you, you'll be in good hands.
Our waiter was great..
Sorry,I can't remember his name but he was
Big smile and very friendly...
We were disappointed that out request for a box table or quiet table away from the bar was not honored. We were told it was because it was a busy night and they needed boxes for larger parties. They gave us no reason why we couldn’t sit in a quiet area away from bar. The box tables remained empty for most of our dinner. One filled with a party of 5 the same size as ours. As we were leaving the other box finally was seated with a large table.
Service was really slow. The food was not worth the price, in fact, seemed extremely over priced for what you actually get.
We went for the weekend brunch. They have a good menu for $31 that includes a lot of options.
Disappointed in quality of good. Normally eat the Matchbox at the Mosaic District. Mosaics food quality is much better
Food was good. Service was good. Sat outside upstairs and they had none of the fans running and it was pretty miserable with little breeze.
Service was excellent and I enjoyed my pizza
We enjoy dining at Match Box. We feel that the wine and beer per glass are over priced.
Double date with friends. We were seated right away but it was incredible loud and our server messed up our drink order several times. We also felt very rushed. The food was good but they didn’t have some key ingredients for the dishes which made our choices more limited.
Not a great meal. Filet was undercooked in salad. Kid’s pizza was spicy for unknown reasons. Margherita pizza was super salty to the point it was unenjoyable. I like matchbox, but this was my worst experience by far.
It was just ok. Food and service and ambiance were not spectacular but nothing specifically negative to report. Just not good enough to want to go again.
Unfortunately there was no communication about ending brunch 2 hours early. We waited around for BRUNCH and it would have been nice if they said it when we came in or the two times I called. The staff seemed understaffed but overall our waitress tried to make it better for us. There was also a bit of lying to the customers going on because when she told me brunch was no longer being served she said it ends at 1pm (when I know from website and sign on table it says 3) and it was 1:30pm. We had to ask around to figure out the real reason and turns out the kitchen was overwhelmed and unable to continue brunch. And on top of that they continued to serve brunch to people who arrived maybe 20 mins before our reservation time of 1:30 pm. This was just an inconvenience because my husband and I were visiting from another state for our anniversary weekend and they were not very forthcoming with information. Always end with a positive our dinner at 1:30pm was tasty.
Waiter kept disappearing. My pizza was underdone. Very noisy and could barely hear my lunch companions. They described Their food as delicious.
Our server, Rodrigo, was very accomodating and provided superior customer service to our table of 7. While I enjoyed the food, it was a little frustrating to order items on a limited basis. The serving size on each plate was small, not even enough to constitute a serving for one person and as a large table we should have been allowed to order more than 6 items....there was a table of two people and they ordered the same amount of plates as our table of 7 people. We will return to Matchbox, but not for brunch.
Really cute outdoor ambience, good food. Service was a bit slow, but our server was nice enough. Spinach dip and crab soup were outstanding Lobster fra diavolo pizza was different and tasty. Drinks were pretty standard. We’ll be back!
We chose to sit outside because we have a toddler, but the staff was very patient and kind to us and didn't mind when she subsequently trashed the table (kids!). I highly recommend sitting outside if you have young kids with you because they have room to run around if they get antsy and they're somewhat contained! Food was excellent and the unlimited brunch menu was a good value.
This was our second visit to Matchbox at one Loudoun. The first time we went with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This time it was much more awkward and the food was not nearly as good. For one thing, the restaurant has changed it’s Wine menu so that no bottle of wine is less than $40, and that is for the “Matchbox” brand wine. The last time we ate there, we ordered the ribs, and they were delicious. We ordered the website again this time, and they were sickeningly sweet. In addition, the server had to keep going back to ask someone else about things on the menu. I’m not sure it’s worth the drive to Loudoun county to eat at matchbox One Loudoun.
Fantastic service from Alex and Mo (bartenders) during happy hour. Energetic environment. Food is on the saltier side, IMO. Great restaurant for families, couples, dates, singles, groups, etc.
Matchbox food and service is amazing! However, it tends to get a little loud and it is pretty hard to hear in there.
This place was generally fine but some of the portion sizes were ridiculously small. I ordered the $28 crabcake entrée and they delivered to tiny crab cakes surrounded by french fries. After some back-and-forth with the waiter, the very helpful manager gave us a comp for the crabcakes and also gave me a much better crabcake to take home.
I went for the first time ever for the bottomless brunch. It was absolutely wonderful and delicious! We had a great server. Since we went in a little bit earlier for brunch, we slid right in and had no wait at all! 10/10 place!
Always great food and service. It was mobbed with prom kids and very noisy but actually we were impressed with how the staff handled it all - very cool calm and collected and still providing wonderful service! Pizza is a must at this place! Salads are great - they are very flexible with orders and sharing. We love it here!
We were there for brunch on Mother's day later in the afternoon when it wasn't too busy. It still took quite some time to get our orders. Two of us ordered the bruchbox ($30+, unlimited food, drinks not included) and we left without receiving all of the items we ordered. The check came quickly and was processed efficiently. It also showed that a few of the dishes we ordered were never sent in to the kitchen, which explains why we never received them. Overall, food was great but the service was lacking.
The “Brunch Box” tapas style menu $32/person with the $3 breakfast cocktails is a great idea but the execution needs improvement.
Food items was great, many options and full size pizzas is part of the “Brunch Box” menu. My only gripe was the amount of time it takes them to bring the food to your table. Your limited to “2 hours” and they ran out of items 1.5 hour before the end of brunch. I guess you could order a bunch of food at a time but it would of lessen the experience.
