Nice restaurant, reasonably priced. We shared the guacamole and cheese appetizer and a pizza.
Our server knew it was our first time there and treated us to a delicious appetizer - fried risotto balls in a tomato sauce. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. My husband had a crab cake sandwich that he proclaimed the best in the immediate area and had the crab soup with lumps of crab in it. I had the short ribs and they were delightful. We loved the atmosphere and can't wait to go when the weather is warmer so we can enjoy some of their outdoor seating.
Everyone was very kind, out hostess, to the host who gave us compliments as he walked us to our table. Our waiter, Giovanni, was very attentive and friendly with us. He made our New Year’s Eve dinner a fun, delicious treat! We will definitely return. We had fast service and a wonderful experience!
Food was good but not amazing. The ambiance definitely has a hipster vibe with low lights and trendy decor. Service was speedy.
Service was great, food was a disappointment. I have never been to Matchbox before but it is always crowded, so I assumed it would be great. My husband and I ordered the Fried Chicken Cobb salad...it can't hold a candle to the Brentwood Salad at Blue Ridge Grill. We also split a pizza; Fireworks has better pizza overall...I don't plan to return. Although, the cinnamon doughnuts were delicious and one order can accommodate 2-3 people.
Too busy and noisy for our liking. Ribs were just okay. Coleslaw was terrible. Would not order that again.
Really busy spot especially during the holidays! When it does get busy, seems like the service is spread a little thin and things not as smooth, but overall I love this place! Food always consistently good and something for everyone on the menu.
Went here on Christmas Eve. It’s a nice place with good, average food.
Our group of seven was not served any food for 45 minutes. The appetizers and entrees were served at the same time but we didn’t have any utensils to eat them with. We had to wait 20 minutes for our drinks and they were not correct. Refills took longer than expected. Thankfully Ben, the manager on staff, addressed the situation and ensured the rest of our evening was handled appropriately.
Everyone at our table had something wrong with their meal. One had cold vegetables. Two had their drinks made completely wrong. And the fourth didn't get their food with everyone else. Only after asking two different people did we learn that they had burned the pizza and had to remake it, which came out just as everyone else was finishing their meals.
This was the second time I’ve been there in a week. Food and service fantastic both times. Only complaint—. Women’s bathroom smells stinky, musty as if sewer water is staying behind and not getting flushed.
I’ve only had their pizza. It’s very good. The place has a lot of seating but is pretty loud.
When I booked the table on Open Table I noted it was a birthday celebration. When the waiter seated us I pointed out the birthday girl to him. When the time came for dessert no special birthday treat was offered or brought to the table. Also, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, they decided to seat a Large party with six small children directly next to us. I know that this is a casual restaurant, it just seems that they are a little thoughtless with their customers.
Fun atmosphere and good food!!
Way too noisy. We could not converse.
This was my first time visiting this Matchbox location. A friend is extremely gluten sensitive and I knew she could enjoy Matchbox’s gluten free menu. Great meal and a fun evening.
Absolutely delicious food. Great value. It’s no wonder the place is full!! People know. It’s great
One of my favorites - we go often and every time the food is delicious and the service great!
Other then my reservation being moved without my asking, we had a great time! The noise bothered my family (I guess after 8:00 they crank the music up) so it was hard to have a conversation with family, despite sitting at the opposite end from the bar.
Food was great, service was fast, overall a pretty good night
Service was friendly and competent, but slow. Food ranged from not so good to good, depending upon the dish. There is no comfortable place to wait for your table so you wind up being dodged by wait staff and others as you stand in the entry area. We had a super-bright spotlight shining in our faces while seated at our corner table and the overall noise level made it difficult to talk.
The restaurant has a great ambiance. The food was okay. Nothing special but I recommend for a fun night with family or friends.
Staff was smiling, attentive and courteous from the moment walking in and as we left. We did the brunch. Started with the cinnamon buns which were tasty. Light and sweet! Both had the All The Way Burro with side of potatoes. Delicious! Coffee was good and cup was never empty. Right price for food quality and solid service! Nice job Matchbox!!
I want to start off by saying we loved our server Drew. My daughter and I went for brunch and enjoyed the Calzone & Chicken & Waffles. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. Did I mention that we ❤️ Drew. We’re looking forward to our next mother-daughter brunch.
It’s always good however our appitizer came out after our salads. Not a huge deal but maybe servers should
Think about that. We enjoyed it and our server was very polite
The Ashburn matchbox had very greasy food. The food is much better at Pentagon City Matchbox.
Matchbox in One Loudoun is a great local place for us. Really great food in a very nice, and energetic, atmosphere. Halley was our server and she did a great job. Really good recommendations and she was very nice. Very very good service.
Server was new but did well getting our drinks/food orders placed. Food was very good--son said he wished he had a little bit more cheese on his custom pizza. Shrimp and grits dish was especially good.
Very nice. Seated right away and meals were excellent.
Just all around great place to eat, drink and celebrate! Service is fast, friendly and food is great!
There was a costume party with a live band so it was REALLY loud but otherwise awesome. The chicken pesto sandwich was delicious!
We were there during the Halloween party and it was so noisy my friends and I could not even talk! We just wanted to eat dinner and chat. Had we known of the party in the bar we would have ask for a table farther away or done something different. It was not going on when we first sat down. We were screaming to just hear each other, not very relaxing. Will try again another night, food was good.
This was my first time there. A manager introduced the waitress as a new trainee which was fine. She was actually very nice. Then the manager brought me a drink I ordered, but with only about 1/2 oz of whiskey in it which I easily ascertained by the color, which for a $9 drink was unacceptable. I asked to have a proper pour and he pushed back a bit but relented, and brought me a replacement drink which was good, and then another I ordered later, which was also fine. The first drink experience was annoying, but still OK.
Then, he put the drink I sent back onto my bill, hoping I wouldn't notice. It wasn't on the detailed bill, the total on the credit card signing form was higher than the detail indicated by around $9. When I disputed the bill, he fixed the charges immediately, indicating they had charged me for the drink I sent back erroneously.
I had the clear impression he was trying to put one over on me. I don't appreciate that sort of attitude anywhere. If this was a waiter or waitress trying to pull a fast one, I'd think it was just a bad server attitude. But as the meal service was supervised closely by a manager, this clearly indicates to me that the bad attitude demonstrated is probably house policy.
I wouldn't trust these guys as far as I could throw a bread stick. I may go back again later to see if the attitude changes, but will watch them very closely.
Since last time I was there, probably a year ago, the menu is much bigger, food was really good. Went for brunch, but they also offer full lunch. We will go back.
Always love the food and cocktails. And the wine on tap is fun.
Had a great get together and dinner at Matchbox. Service was very good and food was excellent. Shared salads and pizza and all were great.
Great food and service! Love the jalapeño margarita!
Waited a while to be seated despite having reservation. Initial seating was by stairs despite requesting something a bit intimate. Ultimately switched seat to outdoor balcony; much more to my liking. Chris was my waiter; great service great suggestions and I look forward to seeing him again on my next visit. Was a tad disappointed on the fact that they didn't carry a quality stout or port.
Great meal and great service. The restaurant is a little loud though if you are trying to have a conversation
Everything was amazing, I love the environment. The service is amazing and everyone is so happy and nice. Live music was good but the food was great!
Love the people and it’s vibe. So happy and friendly
