Our group enjoyed our first time lunching here. The food was great—soup of the day excellent. Server took good care of us—promptly refilling our drinks. The speaker & music over our upstairs table was a little loud & couldn’t really be adjusted just over our table. We had some lunchers who could have used elevator but weren’t offered the service. Our server did offer & was very sure to tell us that coming out in the kitchen was where we should be—otherwise we probably would have gone back to ground floor wondering about our mistake. Thanks for a great lunch.
Too loud . Sat in the back room. I felt like they need to do something for the excessive loudness of the room. People seemed like they were yelling to each other.
Our server was very nice.
Service is always lacking and slow here for some reason. I have been here many times and it is consistently off.
Brunch was excellent. They have a flat fee unlimited tapas style brunch, where you can try small plates of tasty food. It was the perfect brunch experience.
The service was terrible. We had to wait to try to get a drink at the bar and then we waited 25 minutes after sitting down before we saw a waiter. My husband had to go speak to the manager. Once we saw our waiter he was good, but they need to improve the system to check in with customers sooner! Food was delicious. I would recommend... if you are not in a hurry!
Wonderful service and incredible food. Very busy for Valentines Day and they were on top of the reservation schedule. Food was quicker than expected (maybe a little too quick?) but was hot and very well prepared. Husband loved his rare ribeye that was a true rare! Our waiter was excellent- knew the food, had good recommendations. The tuna tar tar tacos were incredible. Brought my wine with the entree like I asked and didn’t rush us out the door. I had the rigatoni and it compared to the pasta I had in Italy two years ago. Well done, will come again!
Valentine’s Day dinner
We had a reservation at 6:45 didn’t get seated until 7:10 due to the hostesses forgetting about us (wasn’t too happy about that). When I went up to tell the hostesses about the wait they tried to tell me it was my fault due to them texting and calling me. When they did text me at 6:50 I immediately went up and told them and they said to wait a little longer. I continued to wait for 20 more minutes before I went up again to ask about our seating because I noticed people coming in well after us were getting seated before us. They proceeded to tell me they were trying to reach me and implied that it was my fault but I let them know the situation as to when I did get a text, they told me to wait longer. Once I made that clear to them they immediately got us a table. After that everything was wonderful. The waiter we had was fantastic and recommended such amazing food. All in all matchbox is an amazing place, they just need to work on not forgetting about people being seated.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Food average anymore, price value no so good and you feel rushed in and out.
Not a bad place but there are better choices. The most annoying issue is the quick service to scoop up your plate and to ask if you need anything else. While on the surface, it may seem like prompt service but the reality is they are trying to turn over the tables very quick. I would probably go to TGIF before I went to Matchbox again.
Great food outstanding service!
The service was horrible! We had 8 people (it was my baby shower lunch) so I get it, it’s more than the normal 4 top but three peoples orders we’re screwed up upon arrival (which they just kept them because we waited so long). Some people’s meals were brought out 15 later than others, it was just not great. I’ve eaten there before and the food is normally good but the service was just terrible.
Great experience but it was a little loud. We were seated directly over the bar
Our server Denisse was Fantastic. Cheerful, friendly and attentive.
We LOVED matchbox. We went with our two toddlers and they marveled at the energy and lights and atmosphere. The noise level was perfect- no one was bothered by them! On top of that, the Captain Healthy Saves The Day plate was the perfect option for my boys to split. I've never seen such a simple, accessible, and healthy offering on any kids menu before. Hat's off to the chef who thought of it!
I love the weekend Brunch Box. It’s a nice choice a small tapas for all you care to eat for under $35. For whatever reason, I always get Erik as my server which makes me happy! He is professional and friendly and treats me as family. There aren’t many if any tapas style brunches in Loudoun County. If you are looking for a special treat on the weekend, give these guys a try. Ask to sit in Erik’s station, and be sure to try the avocado toast, chicken and waffles and arancini. Some of the highlights on the brunch menu, in my opinion.
Catie was amazing. Helped with our selection and service was incredible. Highly recommend.
Most food is good. The restaurant smells like strong smoke which gave me a headache.
Our server was excellent and the brunch was a GREAT value. Unlimited food and Bloody Marys, Peach Bellinis, and Mimosas for $3 each!
Delicious food and great atmosphere!
Loud in there. Service a bit slow - lots of empty tables. It was New Year’s Eve. Food was good.
All in all a good experience.
BBQ cauliflower pizza was delish
Best all you can eat brunch deal. I had 2 chicken pesto pizzas, shrimp and grits (with huge shrimp), 2 different types of French toast, and more.
A great value for the food and atmosphere
Food was fine, the service was excellent. It was Christmas eve and the turned the lights on before 9:30 p.m. but in general it was fine. Better than the last time I was there.
This was our 1st visit and we will be back. Arrived early for our reservation and was seated right away. Our waiter Roberto was phenomenal! He recommended a great wine to pair with each of our meals and was super prompt.
The food was good. I’m really funny about shrimp and grits and this serving was on point. The grits were creamy and the shrimp were cooked just right.
The dessert was super tasty. Roberto stayed it would take a little longer since it was made fresh, and it came out in no time.
Enjoyed our dinner with friends at MatchBox. The food tasted great, and was fresh, my steak was cooked perfectly. My salad was fresh and flavorful and my wife's soup was served hot, not warm as some restaurants do. It can be a little loud, but while seated the noise level was pleasant enough.
Food was good with many great sounding things to choose from. Service was excellent - Hailey is a gem!
Very nice. We were seated immediately. The waitstaff was very attractive.
Noise level way to high to have a conversation - I would not call it energetic for a lunchtime crowd couldn't conduct a conversation or business.
Went there for dinner at 7:00 and was seated in the bar area. It was so loud that we could not carry on a conversation. We left as soon as we finished our meal. They shouldn't seat people for dinner in the bar area.
We were there for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was SO noisy we could barely hold a conversation. Alcoholic drink pours were terrible. If you are going to charge as much as you do for drinks fill the glass, anything less than that is a rip off.
Matchbox is one or our favorites in Ashburn. We like sitting in the bar area. A little more energetic vibe. Chandler was our waiter and he was great.
Food was pretty good. The portions are a good size, too. The only criticism is that we ordered Bloody Mary’s and they didn’t have the mix. Then we ordered a beer and they didn’t have that one, either. They did comp us with a free drink, but it was disappointing they didn’t have either of the other two.
Our waiter, Drew was amazing! The best brunch I’ve ever had!
Food was excellent
Waiter was outstanding - unfortunately we had a very extended wait time for him to arrive to our table. The manager showed up immediately to make amends for the error and she was quite professional.
I have no hesitation returning! I rate it a 4.5
Great meal with my daughter and it was nice that the weather was great and they have so much available outdoor seating. We will go back with the rest of the family for special occasions.
Customer service at the front reception is still disappointing. Asked to sit outside and was told a quoted answer. There were tables outside just not cleared but was told “no tables were Avaialble .. that was the reason we chose this restaurant was to enjoy the outside seating.
My daughter and her friends were there for a homecoming dinner (10 of them). The manager there was able to accommodate another group of 5 girls (separate reservation) by putting them at a table nearby. Hugo, the waiter, was awesome to the girls!!! When serving that many teenagers, he must have had a lot of patience. Besides that, it was one of the girl's birthdays and her mother brought a cake in. He was considerate enough to find us parents at the bar to ask if it was a surprise or not. I know he worked hard that night and as a parent of one of the girls, I really appreciate his attentiveness and friendly personality. I would definitely recommend Matchbox and if you're lucky enough to have Hugo serve you, you'll be in good hands.
