Match Ratings and Reviews
Just wanted to comment about Monday evening event. Overall was a little disappointed to be honest. I guess I was expecting more. I ended up sitting at the bar. I was on the earlier side. Was trying to take decision about what to eat and drink. The menu for the specials for Tropical theme seemed different but was hard for me to fully enjoy due to sensitivities to some foods and it's hard for those that have gluten allergies. I just felt too that the bar staff was selective and attentive to who they wanted to be to. I know it's who you know but waited awhile for drinks and to be tended to when I was sitting right there. It became busier during night but I left about 8pm. Here I thought too since there was special drink menu that there would have been better discounts or samples of drinks. Same with food or at least passed appetizers so people can get a feel. The other disappointment was the DJ. He stunk! I could have done a better job than that. Unless Rob Newberry showed up later this guy was boring. Many people commented on it. He had some scratch and static moments and it was loud at bar and then he walked away. Just was not feeling the vibe. The pizzas were good but between ordering a Match pie and a Fortina pie plus 2 wines was a bit costly. Over 50.00 At least with the wine the pour could have been a little more generous was not impressed. Just the overall customer service and the vibe was not a good one last night. Not sure was just expecting something different. I had been to Match awhile ago and was looking forward to this event. Was disappointed. Sorry but thanks.
We had a wonderful time on a double date at Match! Our only problem was we had a reservation and still had to wait over an hour for a table. We understand that problems like this happen; however, we were barely communicated to about why our wait was so long, or what issue the host was having seating us. The bar is nice; however, if you are looking for a quiet dinner spot, this is not the place. Once we were sat, the food and service was excellent. I never order dessert from restaurants, but the food was so good I did here. I would/do definitely recommend Match to my friends.
We were very pleased to have our reservation accommodated early, but displeased with our food being brought out with enormous breaks of time in between, especially when we'd asked to have it served all at once. The food was delicious though, and the atmosphere was very nice. Good drinks too!
We have been to Match many times because of consistently good food and service. However last Friday my meal was a total disappointment. I ordered the osso bucco and it was tough and tasteless. Match is the only restaurant I go to Norwalk for. Not sure I will go back again
Host greeted us with good humor. A bit rushed with the ordering from the waiter. Food was just amazing. the owner of 'MATCH' suggested that I should stop by and check his restaurant. As I am a regular customer of his other establishment(s). I will come back on an empty stomach to try most of the menu listing and desserts. bravo to the chef.
An all around favorite for 15+years. We introduced friends to Match who have recently moved to Norwalk and they loved it. There's a reason it has outlasted all the other restaurants in South Norwalk. It hits the mark on everything- -service, food, cocktails and ambience. The menu is consistently creative. Matt Storch is a terrific chef.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Match. The food was delicious and our server was polite and attentive. Our favorites were the Osso Bucco main dish and the brussel sprouts appetizer. The only negative of the night was our table location. We were very close to the table beside us and right next to the food service area. I'd recommend getting a table closer to the front if you can. Overall great experience and highly recommend!
the food is always fresh and innovative. This time one of our entrees realy missed the mark, our amazing server noticed that we were not eating one of the meals and whisked it away. We ordered a different meal and the first entree was deducted from the bill without our asking.
Great look, food was ok, but my chicken was pink and actually bloody. The waiter took it and I ordered ravioli. When it arrived, my son was already finished with his meal. The owner never came over (there were only two other patrons, so he was just standing by the door, not busy) and they charged me for the ravioli. As we walked out, the owner looked up and said 'sorry about that' to which I responded 'you mean the raw chicken' and he said 'yeah, hope to see you again'. I wouldn't give Match another chance, solely based on that handling of the situation.
Outstanding Swordfish- roasted in the wood fired oven to a hard crispy shell around warm moist perfectly cook center. Such flavor and texture. I craved it when I woke up the next morning and will be going back this week for another round. In fact, maybe I'll go back tonight!
We read the reviews and were NOT disappointed. The occasion was a business dinner and it was perfect. Great food choices (heavy on seafood which I loved) and very reasonably priced for quality of food. Two of us did the "Autumn Meal" which was 3 courses for $30. All three courses were amazing! Our colleague had the halibut and again it was AWESOME! The wine list isn't long but the selections are amazing both in terms of quality of wines and value. Can't wait to go back.
My family and I were looking forward to dinner at Match. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing.
Both Halibut entrees were overcooked and flavorless. I expressed our displeasure to the initial server and and a second server who took over during the service. They said they were sorry but made no gesture to comp our meal or dessert. This should be standard protocol at any fine restaurant. Especially, when the check is $230.00
I wrote a note on the bill as well.
Match is our "go to" place to eat when we drive from NJ to Mass. Fantastic food with great surroundings. Never disappointed. Great menu with lots of options. Great cocktails and desserts. Stopping here for great food gives us what we need to carry on to our final destination.
Anniversay Dinner on a Sunday evening. It was steady but not busy which made the meal experience very nice. Waiter was very attentive but not obtrusive. Had the Osso Buco which was superb. Husband had the halibut which he said was great. For appetizers we had the figs and the baby brussels both were very nice. Out of the two appetizers the figs were my favorite.
Excellent food! The burrata, pork shank, shrimp fra diavla pizza, tuna and calamari were all amazing. Excellent craft cocktails, as well. Even better, we had to move our reservation time and they very kindly accommodated us on a busy Saturday night and didn't rush us to sit another table.
