Match Ratings and Reviews
Match Sono is magnificent. Chef Matt Storch is one of the most inventive chefs around, and he never ceases to amaze. He elevates Brussels sprouts to an art form as an appetizer. Stunningly delicious, they are tiny, roasted, and beyond delicious. The arugula salad is sublime and makes a great starter. A signature dish is the osso bucco. It’s a stunner, in a “braising love” sauce that’s rich and satisfying. Served on risotto, the meat is tender, moist, and melts in your mouth. That said, leave room because you’ll relish the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, which are served with peanut butter ice cream, carmelized banana, toasted pistachios, chocolate curls, and a dollop of whipped cream. It’s sharable, but you won’t want to! And don’t skip the espresso. Smooth and served right with a lemon peel on the side. This place is a “Match” made in Heaven.
We were sat down for dinner and the place seemed nice enough. It was late so we weren’t expecting much, but they sat us down anyways. Tried to order a burger but they “didn’t have the bun”. Tried to order a salad but they “didn’t have chicken”. Tried to order Pizza But they “didn’t have toppings”. It just seemed like they didn’t want us to eat there, and every item we tried to order they told us “we don’t have anymore”. I understand it was late, but if they didn’t have food why waste a half hour of our time having us sit down to tell us there was no food left? On top of all that, the server was extremely rude. I get that it was a late reservation, but that doesn’t mean that your guests deserve to be disrespected. Had high hopes for this restaurant, but we left without ordering anything at all. Every employee was rude and the cooks made it a point to scoff at us for coming in so late. Match shouldn’t have open reservations if they don’t have food past a certain time. It was not a fun experience. I wouldn’t recommend Match to my friends and I most certainly will not be returning.
Food was good, service wasn’t very good. Waiter was pretty much like here you go. Only thing I recall him saying all night was to put all the orders including apps at once since kitchen is busy.
If you are going for a meal it was a good meal, but it’s nice when you actually get service such as hello, here’s what I recommend, etc.
Then because there was 6 of us the tip is automatically included. I hate that I think it was 18%, my waiter was not good.
My fiancé dined at match on the 10th anniversary, to the day, of our first meeting which was a blind date at Match. Not much has changed at Match, in a good way, and the waiter caught on the our special occasion and had a nice mix of letting us alone and being attentive and celebratory with us.
My fiance and I went here for a dinner date and loved it! Nice atmosphere, great waitress, and awesome food! We ordered several small plates to share, but ending up ordering too much food. Although these small plates are much larger than traditional tapas, they were absolutely delicious! Will definitely be returning! :)
Match is an urban, upscale restaurant with a modern feel and menu layout. They serve a wide variety of poultry, meat, and seafood. It is located downtown and convenient parking is nearby and reasonably priced.
Close tables and an energetic crowd make for a noisy environment during peak hours. Our waiter Peter was extemely polite and helpful, making frequent trips to establish details and check on our dining experience. He was also very knowledgeable and helpful regarding my food allergy.
The veal ossu bucco was tangy and falling off the bone tender. Succulent, rich morsels without being over-spiced served on a bed of risotto. The swordfish filet was at least 4" square and expertly prepared, perfectly cooked and served with a slightly spicy tangy dry rub that was delightful from first bite to the last. The whole fingerling potatos were slightly dry and overdone. Drinks arrived in a timely fashion.
Three entrees, two apps, and eight cocktails came to $200 before gratuity. An excellent locale and will most certainly visit again.
This was a truly delicious , well prepared and conceived meal. Yes, a sommelier would help. Yes, the wait staff could have been a little more subtle in turning the tables but, the food was excellent! The staff was friendly if not completely helpful with the wine choice. The place is clean, nicely located and on a pleasant summer evening, a great spot for patio/ outdoor dining. The steak tartar is beautifully presented with a floating egg and a delicious sauce. The small plate selections are outstanding especially the Octopus. The pork shank is beautifully rendered and served with an unlikely compliment of green tomatoes, shishito peppers and peanuts.
Make it an evening ! You'll have a very pleasant meal
