My seafood linguini was exceptional with large shrimp and succulent scallops. The service needs to be ramped up. Noticed poor service the last three times we had dinner or HH at this restaurant.
Great food great atmosphere and great for dates. It is one of the best places in Phoenix that people don't know about yet.
Always great service and great food! Chicken pot pie was absolutely delicious and cocktails are spot on! One of my favorite places to go before a show or downtown event.
The service was amazing. The food was great. Nice atmosphere. Free 2 hour valet psrking.
Foods were good and price was reasonable, however, the waiter and manager never heard about Opening Table system, kind of surprise .
I'd not realized this restaurant is part of a hotel; not that such an affiliation is a disqualifier for selection but 1) it's not readily identifiable from the street and 2) it seems more suited to hotel guests who are looking for a light bite. To quantify light - my husband ordered the fried chicken. What arrived was a plate of mashed potatoes with what looked like the equivalent of maybe 3 or 4 chicken nuggets fused into one sitting on top with a side of green beans. It was the smallest, boneless fried chicken breast we'd ever seen. I mentioned it to the server when she stopped by to ask how everything was (the crust on my chicken pot pie was good - but it was pretty much covering a bowl of soup). Although she looked shocked at my comment, the manager stopped by and we both said that the one small piece of chicken breast was exactly what was expected - he said he'd definitely make it up to us. How? There was no complementary drink, desert or price adjustment. Nice offer, no follow through. No going back. The valets were nice, though.
All 3 of us had excellent dinners. The menu is creative and has options you don’t see in every other restaurant. The flavors were wonderful and the presentation was great.
Interesting and flavorful menu! Great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or after-dinner bites & drinks. Convenient location to dine before any downtown Phoenix event, with complimentary valet parking. Our favorite server is gone, but Alicia is superb.
Top notch.....one of downtown’s best!
Delicious fresh food! The server mentioned they have a new menu but they kept popular items. I chose the pizza with the chicken and the sauce was fluffy and so delicious. I haven’t had that sauce on pizza before and it really was heavenly. I tried their cocktail with fresh watermelon - it was refreshing and hit the spot! My friend raved about the seafood pasta. The scallops were perfectly cooked and looked plump and amazing. Our sever was exceptional- I wished I had her name to include in this review. The restaurant has a cool urban feel!! There is a huge couch around a table in the lounge area. It is an inviting space that I’d like to visit sometime.
A really solid addition to the downtown/Roosevelt Row neighborhood offering a tightly edited menu that seems to deliver on every option, as well as an enjoyable bar space and a work/lounge area adjacent to the bar. An easy place to meet between downtown, midtown and uptown with results that don't disappoint.
The food in normally very good, perhaps what I ordered was the reason. I had the Chicken and Waffles. I honestly thought it was two pieces of fried fish sitting on top of the waffle when it was brought to the table. Chicken FINGERS and waffles would be a better description. The chicken fingers were fine, but not what I expected. The waffle was cold, the syrup was even colder. I wouldn't order it again. I will be back because I love your Salmon BLT but we were told we couldn't have it because you were only serving the items on the brunch menu. I've been to brunch before and it was served then not sure why we weren't able to get it on this day.
Drink menu was terrible. Waitress was trying to get a date with the manager on the floor more than she was interested in waitressing it seemed. My dessert (pudding) was a brick (not cold) they tried to fix it same issue again. Food was very forgettable, salmon dip was essentially tuna salad with salmon. The bartender was a better server than the waitress and was nice and conversational, valets were great, manager did try to make it better and gave us a discount because of the 2 awful desserts and the waitress charging us incorrectly, only reason they didn’t get one star.
I went there to have dinner with a friend. I ordered their "3 course" special. The butternut squash ravioli was way too oily, and the main course didn't taste right (chicken breast). We ate at 6:00. At 2:00 am I woke up sick as a dog. It took until 6 am to get the food out of my system. I am not happy about the experience in the slightest. I have been there twice before for lunch, and that was fine. But dinner was a disaster. The staff was pleasant, and the atmosphere nice, but none of that has any use if the food is bad.
The service was great. The chef accommodated my request for ingredient substitution. I had the chop salad and linguini with clam sauce. They were both amazing, although quite salty. Would have been perfect if they were both a little less salty.
We had a 6:30 reservation for Saturday night, we had tickets to the Eagles concert afterwards. We sat in the lounge area and not one server asked if we cared for a beverage. We were not seated until about 7:15pm and then our food took about 20-30 to arrive. The meals were good but difficult to enjoy because by then we knew were going to be late for the concert...the Eagles concert, so we literally inhaled a few bites of our food. It was my daughter's birthday as well, and we couldn't even enjoy a dessert, we were running out the door with our entrees in to go containers.
We were 40 minutes late for the concert because this restaurant was not capable of handling a busy night.
It's really too bad because our server, was very nice and as I mentioned the food was good. But, obviously poorly managed. The manager never even came to our table to apologize, which would have been a very appropriate thing to do.
All around very disappointing experience.
Reservation was for 6:15. Not able to seat us until 7 pm. Bar super crowded and took forever to even get a drink while waiting. Appetizer took awhile and was served cold. Entrees finally arrived by 745- my pizza was good, husbands sandwich was cold. Everyone around us was complaining about being late for theater/ various shows downtown. All around a terrible disorganized mess. AVOID!!
The service and food were good but it took forever to get the drinks & food. It was so slow, they bought a round of drinks.
2 groups complained and left about wait time during our dinner. The overall experience was not good.
We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order and we left. The place was mostly empty. We will not try again.
Food was ok. Service was acceptable. I asked for the salad to be split in 2 in the kitchen and that was not done. Online the descriptions of the food are not the way the food is offered. Entree, sauce, and vegetables are all a la carte. The artwork on the walls is just terrific.
Fantastic service. The servers and all the staff were awesome people.
Terrific food and drink. Service is friendly, but may seem slow to some - but to my mind great for a leisurely meal. The artwork in the hotel is a nice bonus, for pre- and post-dinner enjoyment. We’ll be back!
Came here for my wife's birthday. First thing I noticed was the outstanding decor and the art on the walls. The prices for the food were good as well as the portion sizes. The quality of the food was great, I loved the Rubin sandwich. My wife had the fettuccine dish, which was tasty and filled with vegetables but just a little salty. The drinks were tasty but a little more expensive than what you might get elsewhere. Our server was polite and helpful but not as attentive as I would have preferred. Mainly there were times where he seemed to disappear and it was hard to get someones attention. I would come back again.
Best chicken sandwich ever. The slaw and spicy sauce on crispy chicken was phenomenal.
When Match first opened, it was a gem. Inspiring dishes and great ingredients. Windows open in a great location. Then there apparently were multiple chef changes. The menu now couldn't be less inspiring. The ingredients are average. There was hardly anybody there at 7:00 on a first Friday night. That sums it all up. There are way too many great new restaurants that are performing like Match used to perform. It is sad because it used to be great...
We've been to Match a few times over the past year and have not been disappointed. The food is unique but not bizarre. It is always well made with quality ingredients. Portions tend to be a little on the small side, but priced to match. This allows a couple to try a few items off the menu without over-doing it. We usually order an entre and three or four sides...and share all of it.
They always have a great wine list ... which changes fairly often. And the bar is well stocked with top notch material.
Service is always professional and attentive... if not stretched a little thin sometimes.
Overall, Match is a nice place to have a relaxed meal, have a good drink, and people watch through floor to ceiling windows. Nice enough to be classy. Casual enough to be comfortable.
At least they dropped their prices to match their food quality. The ambiance is great. Its so disappointing that they can’t get there food back to where they started. Its just really not interesting, especially for breakfast. I had the Match breakfast and the two pieces of bacon were pretty forgettable, the eggs were good and the potatoes tasted like they came out of a bag. I get that its only $10 but you have competition like Matt’s Big Breakfast only a block or so away. The best part is that it came with toast. I didn’t get it initially so I had to ask for it. I will attach the picture. Seriously you have a great location and building. Do better.
This is a great place with a nice outdoor patio. Food was amazing!
Ambiance was great, food was great, the service was very poor and needed help. It was our first time at this restaurant, we sat at the bar for food and drinks. 3 people helped us and all 3 staff members could of cared less that we where there. Don’t know if I’d return.
Wonderful service and food was absolutely amazing! We are staying at the Foundre hotel and decided to try Match on our first night. We may just go again!!
Wow! Delicious food. Cool atmosphere. We'll be back!
Our waiter, Seth, was outstanding! Food was good, loved the bottomless mimosa.
The food was good overall.
I took my family for Mother’s Day brunch. The food was great! The menu is small with a small selection, but the food they offer was great! They also offer bottomless mimosas & Bloody Mary. The price is very reasonable. Thank you for a great experience Match.
Honestly one of the best individual pizzas I've ever had, quite a surprise for a hotel restaurant! Thin, but firm crust and excellent quality in sauce and toppings. Wife also quite enjoyed her pasta and meatballs. Now to the less good: Restaurant temp was all over the place - first table was freezing. Opted for outside - they have misters (good!) but fans blowing the mist at hurricane force (bad!). Finally got a normal table near the windows indoors. Brussel Sprouts as a side were a bit limp and flavor-less. Unconvincing. Also its a BIG restaurant, so being a bit empty, lacked ambiance. Your mileage may vary here.
Match is a very nice place with a good atmosphere. As for the food, a couple of us had to ask for missing ingredients that were listed on the menu for those dishes. Some of us in our group are disappointed in the quality of the food, especially for the high prices. The protein entrées are the price of a full meal, but you have to pay separately for any side (this place is not up to par with Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris). We even spent $27 at the bar while waiting for our group, fortwo basic drinks and a nonalcoholic beverage.
