Match Restaurant & Lounge
We are huge match fans. When I made this reservation there was nothing about a prefixed menu. Fine. I can get over it. The selections weren’t exactly...special. I order the oysters to start. I got 2 flavorless oysters. The ravioli was delicious despite being undercooked. Main course. Filet and sea bass. Filet was salty and the sea bass was flavorless. Desert. The raspberry chocolate tort thing was amazing. The service or lack there of was horrible. Timing was way of between courses and I think I saw our waiter 3 times...which is why I’m assuming there was an auto grat. If I had never been to match I would never go back. Luckily I have had fantastic food and service before that I will come back for. Just sad that it kind of ruined our valentines night.
Amazing good, amazing wine and fantastic ambiance. Will go back again soon!
I would like a call from the manager. My number is 6238264499
PHENOMENAL neighborhood restaurant
Great fun modern vibe. Food generally tasty. In my group we liked the chicken and steaks. Ribs were tasty but dry. Good appetizers!
Our waitress Michelle was great! She was very attentive and nice! I ended up not eating any of my food, as it was on the menu as "homemade spaghetti and meatballs" and it was so spicy, that I couldn't eat it. It was horrible.
My friend and I were meeting friends who were staying downtown for a convention. Researched a few places for location, reviews along with a variety of food, not knowing what our friends would be in the mood for and Match was the winner. Our friend wanted to meet earlier so I made Saturday night, Open Table 6:30 dinner reservations. Upon arrival, not too busy, we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant very open, decor trendy artsy and the music loud.
We ordered some cocktails which were excellent. Then dinner: The Chicken Thai Bowl, Bianca Pizza, Match Burger and the House Main Spaghetti and Meatballs. Our server was great in the beginning, even accommodated the change-up of the Spaghetti and meatballs, when told they were to spicy as in red pepper heat and opted for the hamburger instead. My pizza was good, the Chicken Thai bowl, OK nothing special, same with the burger. Our server went MIA though toward the end when we ordered a beer and waited and waited along with waiting for the bill. Music was a bit loud, overbearing conversation a bit. The Food was OK not a WOW, but the place is a convenient meeting place.
Atmosphere: decor trendy artsy and the music loud, Food: OK, Service: OK
Great atmosphere and excellent service
Love the place.. I definitely recommend it!!
There are so many good restaurants in the Phoenix area, just being okay is not going to get a good review. The host area is in the middle of the restaurant and was unmanned when we arrived. It took several minutes for someone to notice us standing there. We explained we had a reservation and was seated quickly from there. The restaurant was not very busy and there seemed to be several employees just standing around. The service and the food was okay, but not outstanding. I received an email from Open Table while I was eating that I had not shown up for our reservation. Apparently, when they finally put someone on the host station the person who seated us didn't mark off that we had arrived. Very frustrating. My wife and I eat out at least a couple of times each week so we have experienced all sorts of customer service. This restaurant will be a one and done for us.
Lovely service & food.
Food was not hot enough though.
The place was chilly but when mentioned it was quickly corrected.
We stopped in for Sunday brunch. The buffet is excellent with a wide assortment of fresh items. They have a carving station and a fresh omelette and a chef. They also have very decadent desserts and fresh ground coffee.
Pretty typical hotel restaurant. A little bit of something for everyone. Nothings spectacular, but not horrible either. Pretty OK.
The food was excellent and the service was excellent also. The atmosphere was also quiet and enjoyable.
dry chicken and server not concerned and no offer to correct
Food was delicious! The service was great. Staff was attentive and interested in making sure we had a great evening. I will definitely go again!
Server not familiar with wine list. When asked about smaller side salad, she said one could be prepared, yet the one delivered was the regular size on the menu. Main course - chicken dry and tasteless. Cornbread dry, no butter offered - decaffeinated coffee ordered over dessert - regular coffee served. Rather poor experience for such a hyped up restaurant. Will not be returning.
Very expensive for poor quality food. Deviled eggs were flavorless, Prime rib just average 30% fat, Au gratin potatoes were tasty but cold and my wife’s cherry cobbler had absolutely no crust.
Service was timely and it worked well for Christmas Day out of town - but it is hard to compete with Mom’s home cooking.
We dined here in a group of five and none of us really enjoyed our entrees. Service was great though.
Dec 23 and Match was busy enough to be festive, but not packed enough to be annoying. Great place for us with friends after Lessons and Carols at nearby Trinity Cathedral. Food ranged from ok to GREAT! Server tried hard.
It was our First visit.. my family will return. Very soon!
I was headed to a concert with friends and we stopped in for drinks and dinner beforehand. I’ve been to two pairings dinners plus the Willy Wonka dinner previously and I LOVE Match! The ambiance is great, it’s wonderful they support local artists, the food and beverages are awesome and always a unique experience, and even the bathrooms are cool!
I went in for prix fixe Thanksgiving Dinner. The hostess was pleasant upon arrival. I sat at the bar, as per my reservation. The restaurant was not busy and the bar was even less busy. No greeting from the bartenders and I waited a few minutes to be asked if I wanted a drink. Still no greeting, no "Happy Thanksgiving", no "Will you be dining tonight?" Got my drink...wrong garnish - easily resolved. Finally I was offered a menu. I asked to leave a couple of items off my order - not substitutions just, "No this, no that, please." The salad arrived almost immediately...as did my entree a couple minutes later. :( Nothing is being cooked to order and they still couldn't time an entree to come out after a salad was finished. Very annoying. The meal was delicious! The turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, bread, etc. everything was really, really good. I would recommend the place based solely on the food. But then back to service: no follow up, no 'How is everything?", no offer of desert or coffee, which was well enough because I had had enough of this nonsense. Asked for my check, tipped accordingly, and left.
Food was really lack luster. Cocktails were great. Good price
Thanksgiving Dinner. Food was good but dessert and wine were not included, making for incomplete meal at $29 and price doubled once wine and dessert were added. Pumpkin pie was $5 and very small thin slice. Overall not what I imagined for Thanksgiving.
Amazing food service & atmosphere! We had the best Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant!
Our first time and we enjoyed it Four people, four different dinners that everyone liked. Happy hour drinks and our deviled egg appetizer were perfect. Our server was friendly, attentive and got it all right. Loved the artwork and décor. Pretty close to the Phoenix Theater and will go there again when we are in the city.
Fantastic experience, the best part was our server! Very attentive, and always one step ahead!
This hidden gem is a bright and inviting restaurant/bar. There is ample seating around a big open bar, that was open to the sunshine on the Sunday we visited through walled windows. There is a lovely patio that is dog friendly and not too big. The interior of the restaurant has spots for twosomes, larger groups and even a couple of high tops near the open kitchen where you can watch folks preparing the food.
The buffet is reasonably priced including 2 drinks if desired. There was a wide variety of food including salads, hot dishes like pasta and crab cakes, more conventional breakfast items like scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon and even a make from scratch omelet bar. There were crepes and waffles as well as a wide variety of breads, desserts, and even an awesome prime rib sliced to order for the hearty eater.
A single acoustic guitar singer was adding a lovely background set of songs through which you could easily carry on a conversation.
Very unique and modern Decour and ambience. Overall I really like this place, however the prices were a little bit high for a happy hour or casual night out. The food was excellent, although all we had was appetizers, it was more than enough food for what we needed. The drinks were exceptional, although the prices were much higher than I could’ve gotten elsewhere. I would certainly like to come back again, just not on a regular basis.
There were 8 people in our party and the waiter didn’t get an appetizer correct, brought it out very late after we all finished our salads, finally brought it late, then, instead of asking if she was ready for her next course, he decided to determine when to bring it. Again she had to get up and ask where her next course was, while we all finished our entrees. Luckily we had time but we all should have been served at once. I don’t know if this was the fault of the kitchen or the waiter, but we were all annoyed.
So enjoyed our time together! We spent 4 hours and didn’t realize it! Thanks for making my birthday so special!
Unfortunately, the food was cold and the server seemed to be having an off-night. Great menu and ambiance but the experience wasn’t great.
why do they sit groups so close together? i mean they have the entire patio to space groups. can’t the server manqge to walk a few more steps to give diners more privacy?? that’s my only little bit of feedback. love the pizza salad beer and restaurant was super cool!!
Great ambiance and excellent service, but the menu was hit-or-miss. The buffalo cauliflower starter was outstanding. My New York strip was two thumbs and a large toe down. The strawberry BBQ pulled pork sandwich was good. The Cosmopolitan cocktail was quite tasty. We sat outdoors, but light rail line was about 50 feet away and a regular conversation interrupter -- something to keep in mind. The artwork throughout the hotel is a major plus, and I recommend budgeting an extra hour or so just to wander around and experience it. Only valet parking is available, but complimentary (sans tip) for 2 hours.
Completely recommend the roasted chicken with cornbread, mashed potatoes and asparagus dinner! Avoid the banana cheesecake; it has a strange flavor, plus the crust tasted odd also, like it had refrig or freezer burn. Great service, though!
We really enjoyed our meal at Match. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. We had a great window table. Everything we ordered was great, but I would highly recommend the German Chocolate Cake. It was amazing. We will definitely return soon.
We enjoyed our first visit to Match. We both ordered the steak, and enjoyed it very much.
I had the peach salad with salmon. The salmon was delicious! I will definitely come back.
We went in early for a quick pre-theater bite. Very professional server understood and made sure we had no delay. A couple of delicious and inexpensive starters later we were on our way. Can't wait to go back of dinner.
