Match Restaurant & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Seriously delicious. Everything was so good! The salad was crisp and lovely. The main dishes we had (salmon and the gnocchi) were perfection. And then the desserts (gelato and chocolate custard) were great. Service was awesome. Atmosphere was beautiful...very cool space with great decor. Chairs were super comfortable (an aspect often overlooked by restaurants). Loved it! Will definitely go again the next time I'm in Phoenix.
Some of the dishes were good but the chicken was over cooked on one dish and the accompanying beans were hard and undercooked. Very disappointing. Did not have 2 different wines we ordered. A sure sign the distributer is not getting paid. Hope Mr. Stratta can pull this off. Match seems to be struggling.
We came here for our graduation party. I'm so glad we chose this restuarant. I made a reservation for 15 people. We were sat in the inital area to the left of the hotel as you walk in. It was a perfect space that allowed us to mingle and walk around. Our server, MacKenzie was so accomodating and on top of it with food and drinks. If you don't already know they have happy hour until 7pm even on a Saturday. Everyone was able to get their orders in for drinks. We shared many appretizers and also ordered entrees (but it was more if you wanted other foods). It was an incredible evening with amazing service and people.
Walking up we noticed only 3 tables were filled for a Saturday night 7pm reservation. Always a bad sign but we forged on in.
Ordered a few appetizers... duck spring rolls which come as 2 ( we had 4 adults in party ) and they said no problem they’d cut them in the back and serve them as 4. Well that didn’t happen. Also ordered the eggplant dip which came with flatbread. Should note on menu served with 3 quarter slices of flatbread. We had to order 2 additional orders which they were kind enough to ding us $2/piece for. No big deal they need to make money but at least provide enough bread the first time. Never mind waiting for them to make it took 5-10 minutes. (Reminder they only had 3 tables going in the whole place)
The open kitchen concept was nice but the downside of this for Match is that I could see the head chef more concerned about his Facebook account than the food coming out. Thankgod he wasn’t also touching the food but still creeped me out that this is acceptable. Also a problem for our waitress when she’d sneak back there... yes we could see you too!
As we anticipated our entrees coming out we asked for a wine list. The waitress dropped it off then got our mains and delivered them and disappeared. (More Facebook?!?!)
After getting our waitresses attention and begging to deliver the wine ASAP it came just in time to wash down my last bite. WTF???
Moving onto to feedback about our mains I could not help but laugh when I saw the size of the portions. I ordered the short rib. It was approximately 3in X 1in in size with 6 gnocchi’s floating around in the bowl. Another person in our party ordered their chicken. That looked like a wing they served it was so tiny.
Overall this was one of my worst dining experiences this year in the valley and we eat out twice a week.
We almost considered walking across to FEZ after we finished because EVERYONE was still hungry.
Do yourself a favor and after you read this chose a different restaurant.
I was very excited to try out this restaurant with my best girlfriends. We get together for brunch once or twice a month. We were very unhappy with the food. It took a very long time and when it arrived, food was cold. 3 of us ordered the same thing. I had way too many radishes on my arugula side salad and nothing else. The other two plates came out with solely the arugula, no flavor just dry and a bit of cracked pepper. I do not plan to come here again for brunch. Our server was quiet but attentive.
I’ve given this place multiple tries. Great atmosphere, pretty good food, but the service is just not up to par. This recent time the kitchen was very backed up. After 35 mins without appetizers, stopped the waitress and she says the kitchen is backed up. Did not think to stop and tell us before we asked. Just not good. And worse service every time.
My first time to Match but definitely not my last ! We took a girlfriend there for her birthday and enjoyed a super fun evening. Our waitress was on top of things and the food presentation was lovely. It's a bit of a drive but a cool area on the outskirts of downtown !!!!
What a hidden jewel!!! We sat outside in the beautiful weather and the service was excellent.
Beer selection was great. Locally sourced menu items were well rounded and those we selected were delish. Risotto with oven roasted veggies...YES. Kale salad with oven roasted chicken...YES. Passion fruit & coconut Tarte...heaven.
Going back again soon with a bigger crowd!!!
We went to Match on the night of the Bruno Mars concert. Although we enjoyed the food, our dining experience was marred by extremely slow service, likely caused by understaffing. Our server, Allie was pleasant & tried to be accomodating but she was obviously covering too many tables. It took a full 30 minutes before before I ever had a drink set down before me, and at one point, at least 20 minutes went by with no contact with any staff checking on us or even noticing that we still did not have our salads, etc. Quite frankly we were getting annoyed and about to walk out. Finally our entrees appeared. My wife loved the short rib however my garlic shrimp, while tasty, was actually cold. When our entrees were served, we had to mention that we never got our salads. Overall we did like the ambiance of the restaurant, and the food was generally very good with the exception of my cold entree and extremely slow service. It's possible we will give Match another chance on a night when we have more than two hours to linger, but given the sheer volume of new restaurants in the Valley we will most likely look elsewhere.
We tried Match after the opera, due to the proximity of it. We arrived early for our reservation to have a drink at the bar. The place was pretty empty when we arrived. The bartender, Kyle, was very pleasant and friendly. He informed us of Happy Hour and we had a drink and appetizers. The food was good, but not great. The drinks were good, but overpriced. When seated for dinner it was still relatively empty. Our server, James, greeted us and explained the menu. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We chose our dishes very quickly, due to the fact that we perused the menu in the bar, and James stated they were favorites. The burger was good quality, but pretty small for the price. The short ribs were awesome, but again relatively small portion for the price. Tiramisu was fantastic and a very large portion, even for two!
