Match 65 Brasserie (formerly Paris Match) Ratings and Reviews
This was our 4th visit to Match 65 and it has been consistently good to very good. The staff is particularly gracious and attentive, even when the restaurant is crowded. Classic bistro items like onion soup, steak frites, mussels, etc were very good. A special mushroom soup--more cauliflower than mushroom--was bland and disappointing. The Friday special bouillabaisse was also disappointing--the broth was very good, but with too much calamari, a few mussels, a small piece of mahi-mahi and one shrimp it was too skimpy for the $42 charged.
Fine bistro atmosphere and decor, classic bistro menu, at least some of the staff (and clientele) actually French . Very crowded at lunch, VERY noisy, service kinda sluggish ( and why did the server never take a drink order or tell me the specials? After a pretty long wait she just came over and asked me to order; so I took the plat du jour, which turned out to be a pretty competent sole meunière.
A real Frech bistro. Delicious onion soup. The Coq Au Vin was excellent.
Only drawback is noise level. But we are not youngsters and realize the young crowd doesn't mind noise. We don't wear hearing aids-we just prefer a quieter venue for easy conversation.
Overall, a very good restaurant!

I have been going to Match for many years and I must say the overall experience has and continues to be nothing short of exceptional. The service is top notch and the food amazing.
Philippe and his staff continue to impress me with such professionalism.
I will continue to visit Match on a weekly basis.
My husband, young son and I had such a lovely meal here tonight. We were seated outside on a nice night and wee given a good size table and not crammed into a table for 2. We were pleasantly surprised to find out we could get the restaurant week deal on a Sunday night. The food was fresh, light and delicious - warm goat choose salad, ravioli - the same food from their regular menu. We had creme brûlée and nutella crepes for desert - both delicious. Every person working there was so nice and sweet to our young son, even when he made a little bit of a mess.
Stopped at Match 65 for lunch/brunch prior to a concert at Citi Field. The service was wonderful. Loved the ambience and the food was just perfect. Oh-- and the desserts were to die for! Thankfully, we did not have to eat the mediocre food at the event. We would definitely like to visit this restaurant again!
Came here for restaurant week, got the escargot, salmon tartare, wild mushroom ravioli, moules frites, nutella crepe, and vanilla creme brulee. Everything tasted amazing!! Usually eacargot comes in the shell but they were out of the shell here which i didnt mind because it still tasted delicious. The salmon tartare was very fresh, and the wild mushroom ravioli was so creamy and flavorful. The mussels came in a huge plate full of smaller than usual mussels but it was a mountain full of them! The fries were good, nothing out of the ordinary. The nutella crepe came with dulce de leche ice cream, two tiny crepes, and some whipped cream-delicious but how can you go wrong with nutella crepes? The creme brulee was so creamy and crunchy sweet on top. 5/5 food! Service was great, ambiance was nice, highly recommend !
Host and wait staff were very gracious, especially since I had misread the French Restaurant Week web site and thought the event had not yet ended and I gave them a hard time about it. (I was wrong, as I discovered after returning home.)
The food was very good, but I cannot understand how this, and many other restaurants - from the most modest diner to the fancier brasseries - do not buy decent tomatoes at the height of the summer season, when they are available at every green market in the city and at many grocery stores. I actually sent back the slice on my burger, as it contained not only part of the hard white tomato core, but a bit that seemed to be part of the stem or something. The replacement slice was not as bad, but it was from a tomato you would expect a restaurant to be forced to provide in the winter (pale and not ripe) and not in the middle of summer.
Went there during the French week. We are French and we took their special menu, the escargots (snails) were outstanding. The mussels were very good but we weren't impressed by them (they were really good but after the escargots we were expected more). The desserts (tarte Tatin and crepes) were really good. The staff were really gentle and helpful. It was a really good experience.
