Find me a more authentic French bistro in NYC and I'll be there in a heartbeat.
The food was excellent and they were more than willing to help accommodate our weird assortment of dietary restrictions (between six of us there were Gluten Allergies, Vegetarians, Lactose Intollerance, Diabetes, Nut Allergy and a very picky eater). The staff was friendly and didn't rush us or disappear. Overall I'd say it was a very good experience. My only complaint was that the place IS small, so you'd better be on good terms with the people next to you.
We went for a dinner prior to a performance at the Park Avenue Armory. It is very conveniently located and the service is very attentive to managing your meal to be relaxed and well paced for a pre theatre. We shared the escargot (which was traditionally and excellent - wonderful garlic and butter - ask for extra bread). the Frisee salad which was fine and a wonderful steak with french fries. The staff was helpful in choosing wine by the glass . We did ask for tastes before a final decision. The Creme Brule is more of a tart - but was very good. A nice bistro and good meal.
Delightful French bistro on the upper east side. We enjoyed the plat du jour
[bouillabaisse] and the pate. The Miraval rose was a nice accompaniment.
Efficient service and nice ambience.
We live in the building...easy for a quick walk....only downside is noise level and tight fit for seating.
Great place for my birthday dinner.
Average food, Average service- just saying Bon jour doesn't cut it. Service means more than a cute French accent One should be told if the fois gras special is hot or cold. We stupid Americans can't read your French mind. Ambiance in place is very cute though i would t go back.
Good place for family brunch, nice locatio, close to Central Park and Nespresso too - would recommend it!
Nice experience, unusual cuisine , good service, nice decor
Everything about this restaurant was acceptable. However, there are too many really good restaurants around this one to make this many people's choice. It seemed pricey though it was similarly priced to restaurants in the neighborhood. Probably because the flavors found for the same price elsewhere were superior.
Very pleased with our meals and service. They were willing to make changes based on food preferences and allergies. Very accommodating!
What a terrific neighborhood gem! Enjoyed the restaurant week menu w especially good 3-course options! Modules& frites and steak frites were especially good. Do try the salmon tartare & the crepes or brûlée for dessert. OK wine list, well stocked bar!
Went for Sunday lunch ordered of the restaurant week menu. We had salad with goat cheese, and escargot appetizers. Delicious trout entrées, and then a crêpe with Nutella and crème brûlée. Food was very good but Desserts were small and creme brûlée lacked crispy burned sugar crust. It was noisy and hot inside so we sat outside. Tables were very tight. Overall has true Parisian bistro feel. The food is expensive so restaurant week menu is a great deal
My boyfriend and I were celebrating for date night during Restaurant Week. The menu and service were fantastic! We were not rushed at all, and will definitely be returning for another date night.
Service was good until the place filled up, then it got really slow.
Crime brûlée tart crust too hard
If you're in the mood for an incredible burger and the kind of deluxe pencil thin and perfect French fries that come from the best French bistros, this is your place! The menu had other fab French favorites but we were in the mood for champagne, fries and burgers. We were not disappointed!! We'll be back
We have been to Match 65 many times and our visit last Saturday was yet another very good experience. This neighborhood bistro has a great atmosphere, is bustling but not so loud you can't hear the conversation at your table, and the food is consistently excellent. The branzino, mussels, salmon were all great, and the French fries are the best in NYC. We'll be back, for sure!
Our dinner was expertly prepared in the best rustic French tradition. So delicious. However, the restaurant was not air conditioned and was stuffy and warm without the benefit of overhead fans. Service was a little too leisurely for my liking.
My husband and I went for French Restaurant week. Every dish that we ordered was delicious. The service started off a little slow but improved as the meal went on. I think there were not enough servers for the number of diners. Overall, it was a lovely experience.
Food was very good. We shared the tuna tartare which was delicious, and the Dover sole - equally good. The escargot was ok; nothing special. The bread should've been warm.
The Malbec was delicious so all in all a delightful evening!
I have eaten here a couple of times now and the food is always wonderful. I love the atmosphere and the service is great. It is small and intimate and has a diverse menu.
Lovely experience! Food excellent, service attentive, and professional. Overall a terrific meal.
We had dinner on a Monday night after shopping on Madison Avenue. The wait staff was great, delicious cheeseburgers, crispy string fries, terrific/cozy atmosphere with a great vibe!
Uniformly excellent, from the croque monsieur and salad nicoise to the fish and chips with the best french fries in the neighborhood. Inside is elegant, but the outdoor tables are great when available.
A really terrific restaurant to have a very enjoyable light meal. Service friendly and warm. Relaxed atmosphere.
Service and food were very good.
Overall, quaint neighborhood French bistro. Delicious appetizers and entrees; great, moderate wine list! Wonderful ambience!!
Even so the place was very busy the Food and Service were very good. My Nicoise salad was delicious with perfectly cooked seared rare tuna and my wife Chicken Paillard was from her own words the best she ever had. We will definitely return.
Match is one of the few remaining neighborhood bistro's that delivers what it promises, albeit at some pretty high prices. The burgers are great, though steep at $25, and the accompanying fries are done just they way they should be. Crepes nutella are the perfect wrap up for a fine meal. Match serves it up with authentic decor, but don't be surprised if a little bit of the attitude comes with it.
It so nice to meet family and friends there and have them compliment what a unique find. Everyone we have taken there has brought back their family and friend. Thank you for your uniqueness.
