All around excellent! Angela, Mary, Zach are great!
we had a great time, service and food were excellent and we loved the soft music in the background .
It was our second trip to Matadora, the first since COVID-19. Arrived early for a 6:30 reservation and were seated by the General Manager Zach. We told him we were celebrating and anniversary and 2 minutes after we were seated, he showed up with some complimentary champagne. He came back a few times and chatted with us, particularly about the drink I got, "The Burning of the San Jose." The best drink I have ever had and he explained how we could make it at home. The waitress was friendly and accomodating. The food was excellent and the ambiance as well. Within an hour of our arrival, the place had filled up. Excellent food, drink, customer service, we will be back. And it's right new to BJs if you want to eat and then do your BJs shopping with virtually no crowd. Enjoy Matadora! Steve
So glad they opened back up.
We hadn't been back to Matadora since it reopened. The menu is smaller, but every tapa we ordered (almost all of them for a party of 4) was delicious. The draft beer and cocktail selections are great, and the wine options are varied and good. The service was efficient and the servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. The restaurant was not as full as it should be for the quality of the food and enjoyable ambiance. We'll definitely return.
Our table was ready when it was supposed to be. The staff from hostess to servers were very attentive and very nice
Absolutely love the food, atmosphere, and service!
This was our first time at Matadora. This place is a gem. The food was great, I had the flank steak and my wife had the salmon. We were both very impressed with our meals. The service was exceptional. Our sever was very attentive. We will be back.
We showed up 10 minutes earlier but was seated promptly. The staff was professional and nice. Our server was very knowledageable and she recommended the wines paring with the food we ordered. It was a pleasant dining experience.
This place is a hidden gem! The food is absolutely incredible and the vibe of the whole place is great. Espresso martini and the dulce de leche gelato were delicious! Can’t wait until they get back to their full menu.
My one complaint was the bartender did not keep my water glass filled with water. I know it's a small thing, but I would have appreciated it.
Waited almost ten minutes to be acknowledged upon entering, when we had a reservation that supposedly had a 10-15 minute grace period. Couldn’t find our waiter at certain points of the night. However, the food was pretty good, the orders were accurate and the hotel was neat to look at from the inside. We’d come back for an impromptu date night!
Nice spot for drinks and food, surprisingly cozy and good vibe for being in a hotel first floor/lobby. Small menu, unfortunately no vegan options (our friends had to pass because of that).
We went today nov 6. The bar was packed and it was such a fun time to mingle with people. Food was great, however it would be nice to have a few more choices of food. Only a few appetizers.
Great atmosphere, friendly service. We ordered 6-7 diffwrent tapas. A couple of good ones, but most of the food was bland. Website says live music on Friday night. 18 months into the pandemic - no live music, but still promoted on website.
Ambiance and service was very good, I want to love this place.. The food needs work but I wont to love it so i will be back,
I live close to this restaurant and never really think about going to a local restaurant located inside of a hotel. I read some on line reviews and decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere here. Went with a friend, we sat at the bar. The tapas menu is extensive, but we went for the entrees. I had the chicken two ways which was excellent. Will go again.
OK, so we dined outdoors on a perfectly nice patio. It was 49 degrees with a breeze. So it was a bit uncomfortable, but for health reasons, I can't dine indoors. So we braved the elements for this meal. Fortunately, the food and service were both so good that we didn't mind the chill too much. We felt a little sorry for the servers who had to take our orders and deliver our food -- they were in shirt sleeves, while my party were wearing sweatshirts and winter jackets (and two were wearing gloves).
There are at least a dozen special cocktails and a dozen beer choices. Two of the party got cocktails (a special gin & tonic and some rum concoction) which made them smile. The third went for a local porter. More smiles.
Anyhow, there are some very good tapas. The Jamon Serrano plate is tops. The bacalao croquettes are a great selection, too. The shrimp toast was fine, but had a bit too much butter for a couple of us. And the romesco sauce with the batatas bravas was too mild and the chipolte aioli too spicy for us. Some of the tapas were a bit pricey, but not outrageous.
There is a limited choice of entrees: a steak, a salmon, a chicken, a burger and I think that's it. We three had the salmon, chicken and the burger. All three were outstanding -- the chicken two ways got the best review (that's a grilled breast and some pulled chicken in a red mojo). The fries with the burger were perfect.
Given all the tapas and the entrees, we didn't try any desserts.
Note: Matadora is a restaurant in a Hilton Hotel. One of the best hotel restaurants outside of Boston, DC and NYC.
Service was attentive and the flavor and quality of the food was very good. My husband and I decided that if we go back, we would get several tapas rather than entrees. The tapas were quite large and easily shared, especially between two people, some could easily be shared between three or four. There was somewhat loud hip hop music that did not seem to fit with the vibe of the restaurant. It wasn't too intrusive, but we would have appreciated a different music choice.
Delicious food, scrumptious cocktails, and a great atmosphere!
Great place to take a date! Drinks are pricey but worth it. Currently on eliminated menu due to covid but they expect to be going back to a full menu soon. Very spacious ambiance.
Kenny was the only server and he did a remarkable job! The food was fresh and delicious as well.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for some time and sooo glad we finally made it! The drinks and food did not disappoint.
We had a fabulous dinner. The food and service were top notch. Look forward to coming back again
The food was great. My family appreciated the service and food.
Took a while to get served originally and they didn’t really recognize the fact we were recently married other than congratulating us upon arriving. If I made it known that we just got married in Canada someone would have brought some small recognition of the occasion to our table.
Food was amazing and service was on point. I highly recommend eating here.
Kudos to the kitchen for a great meal. Obviously they were short staffed in the dining room- it is the current reality of the industry so I will not take away from stars. Highly recommend.
Good food and ambient. Good cocktail option list and tapas, but low options for main course.
There are some dishes that are really good but overall this place is turning from a destination into a regular Hilton hotel restaurant…
Inside is very nice but the outside is a small patio overlooking the hotel driveway and entrance. Some plants/shrubs/fencing would go a long way to separating the patio from the cars and smokers hanging outside the front entrance of the hotel.
Drinks were very good, really loved the Mother of Dragons. Salmon was very good and chicken okay. They have a limited menu due to Covid which made sense and would try again once full menu is back but definitely not outside, which is too bad.
Our server (young guy, was his name Ed?) was very helpful, friendly and professional.
Great food and love the ambiance. Can’t wait to go back.
Best staff - Mary, Edward, Angela and manager, Zach! Food delicious, favorite is the salmon! Ver accommodating and considerate of food allergies! Fries are delicious and Gluten Free!
We sat at the bar before dinner to have a couple of cocktails. The bartenders Kenny and Mary were so great that we decided to have our dinner at the bar. Great food, cocktails and excellent service !!!
Excellent as always! So glad to have this place back up and running. Amazing food and service in a really cool setting.
Great to have this favorite restaurant back after a lengthy pandemic closure. Menu is shorter than before but they are expanding menu and hours by late August or early Sept. We ordered one of every Tapas menu item and it was plenty for 2-3 people. Such a variety of foods, all very good.
Amazing atmosphere and the food and drinks are great!
Our server also was so nice and the top! Thank you for the nice table and dinner!
nice atmosphere. very friendly and caring staff. food was good but not great as pre-covid. menu is smaller but that's ok. choice of music was out of place for a Spanish/tapas restaurant. I'd prefer something to fit in with the theme of the restaurant; Spanish and or ethnic music. plus the volume was too loud
This location is hot and vibrant, very inviting. However, the menu is very limited. Pictures of dishes served are outdated. Paella and octopus are not being served. They advertise as if they are up and running, their not. With so much potential, it was sad to see an establishment of this caliber fall super short. I suggest you take a few more moments carefully and find a different location to have a meal. If you’re accustom to a menu that will blow you away, this is not the place for you. Good luck.
Staff was incredible and outdoor seating was great. All the food was exceptional.
