A modern, Spanish-inspired steakhouse with flavorful cuts, exemplary wine and bold drinks. Within a dramatic setting, Matadora blends unique Spanish dishes with classic staples for a unique, bull-stopping dining experience.
Outstanding food! The tapas make for a varied, interesting meal.
Our experience was amazing!
Valentines Day - over priced, steak was cold, bar tenders don’t know how to make mixed drinks, very disappointed.
We went to Matadora on Valentines Day, as outlr first time there. Food was very good. Interesting menu! Would like a slightly better beer selection, but what was on menu was good.
The night was a little pricey but we enjoyed the conversation with other people we met at the bar. We’d go back.
Valentine’s Day dinner. Our first time st Matadora. The food was outstanding. We had the fire roasted oysters, the foie gras, and the calamari (best ever?) to start. After a slight hiccup in our order, general manager Christopher DeStefano handled it immediately and even gave us each a flute of champagne! Then we devoured the crispy duck and fiver scallops. It’s amazing we had room for excellent cappuccino and expresso with the cookie plate! We enjoyed the Spanish music best and the open kitchen to watch. The bar area looked great and I heard you can get any of the menu at the bar. Don’t be put off that’s it’s in a Hilton Hotel in a parking lot in Woburn. Huge signage, free parking and very upscale feel, but warm and friendly. We would definitely go back. Boston prices as expected.
I wish the service had been better but perhaps simply an inexperienced server. The food was very, very good. The kale/goat cheese/asparagus salad was excellent. And the rib eye...I've never seen a bigger rib eye! Very tasty and moist though it wasn't cooked a "solid medium," more like medium-minus. The restaurant did not feel like a hotel restaurant which was good for Valentine's Day. I'd go back when we could choose from the regular menu. However, even this menu had a lot of choices and the prices seemed somewhat reasonable.
You must try Matadora. Every small plate we have tried (4 visits in past 7 months) was delicious. Beverage this time was a Sangria flight...nice to try three sangriass and not overdo the alcohol intake. Recommend the tapas corn, calamari, roasted red peppers, flaming meat. Cool vibe and live music Fri & Sat nights
Service is sooooo bad. Which is unfortunate since the food is good. Sadly the last visit for us.
This restaurant is inside the Hilton in Woburn. There was a guitar player last night and he was very good.
Menu consists of tapas, a few entrees, and some grilled a la carte selections. We had tapas. We usually get 4 tapas dishes, but had 5 this time - shrimp toast, kale salad, fried calamari, Shishito peppers, and grilled vegetables. I don’t eat meat, but my husband said there was a chorizo dish and steak that went by that looked delicious. Everything we had was delicious. We ordered 2 to start with, then added the rest after we finished those otherwise everything comes as they are cooked, and they often come together, and we like a little time in between.
Cocktails are always good here.
Excellent ambient. Our favorites are octopus, calamari, corns, and ice cream. Parking is free. Services are outstanding. Live performance. Every Tapas has its own unique flavor - it’s made for specisl order. We truly enjoy the entire dinner. The only think we would like to change is the quantity in each Tapas can be increased. Overall we really enjoyed Matadora and the dinner. We will be back.
Restaurant was cold -- some jackets stayed on! We dined exclusively on meats, cheeses and tapas all of which were very good but unfortunately portions were pretty small for the prices. The tapas selections were also more limited than those offered in metro area Spanish restaurants. The number of wines by the bottle was adequate and well selected but again the markup was steep.
Food was excellent but wine service lackluster. Our waiter brought the wrong year 2015 instead of 2011 for our wine. Okay error but $68 is steep price. Manager brought an alternate 2011 Rioja but the bottle wasn’t opened in front of us. If I return will get wine by the glass.
Beef was excellent as was the tuna tartare.
This was our first visit to Matadora. The food was very good. There could have been more variety in the tapas selections.
We did experience one problem. The heating system on the evening of January 31 was not working properly and the air temperature in the restaurant was cold. This made eating uncomfortable since we were not moving around.
Our son was heading back to school, and he'll be heading to Spain shortly, so we wanted to take him out for a proper send-off. This was my third time to Matadora and it did not disappoint. Our server was excellent, and the food was great. My son had the Steak Fritas, while we all shared Tapas. The steak was cooked beautifully, but my favorites were the Shrimp Toast and Pan Con Tomate. My husband's favorite is the Flaming Chorizo, and we all loved the Jamon Iberico. The wine list is well selected and priced, both by the glass and the bottle and there's a full bar. It's fun to have the open kitchen with the wood fired grill - dinner and a show! I definitely recommend Matadora and we'll be back.
Hostess did not ask if we had a reservation. I pointed out we did so she would hopefully see that we were coming in for our anniversary as I indicated on the Opentable app. She did not as we received no indication the staff was aware. The table was not ready for us as she brought us to a table with 4 place settings instead of two. While removing table settings she took one of our utensils. This compounded the issue of waiting to grab the staffs attention after our food had arrived that we needed utensils (our food was cold). One of the dishes we ordered with was very pricey for the amount of food was cold. Luckily the staff did replace that with a warmer portion. The staff hardly came around to ask if we needed anything. We did not adjust our tip to reflect any of this as I feel that the large number of issues has to do with management and training. Our staff resolved every issue they could.
Overall I was very unimpressed with this restaurant, especially at its price point. I hope this review makes it to the management team. We live close by and were hoping for a great tapas place nearby but unfortunately we were quite disappointed. We are not those types to critique or review, but I feel as though this poor experience requires some closure and perhaps follow up
Food and service was great, definitely will be back
Service was horrible. Had to flag down out waiter repeatedly. Finally got manager, who was only marginally more helpful. Food was decent, service ruined the night.
cool space-great service. shrimp tapas were great.
Most wonderful experience. Enjoyed everything about it. Chef even came over to introduce himself. Waiter did an outstanding job. Looking forward to going again.
Surprisingly nice ambiance for a restaurant in the indoor courtyard of a high-rise hotel. My grilled pork chop was 3 inches thick and mouth-watering-ly juicy. Your choice of 3-4 sauces is served on the side, allowing you to control how much. Grilled fresh vegetables were perfectly done. The starter of mixed meats included the wonderful jamon from Spain; olives were excellent. The bar/TV area is set apart from the dining area, so you don't feel like you're in a sports bar if you want a nice dinner.
I saw the Matadora on TV. So we went. It was charming. The food was excellent. I found the prices on the meals to be a bit expensive. I got the pork chop. So you only get just the pork chop. The vegetables were $7 extra. My husband got the fish. He said it was very small and could of eaten it in three bites. Other then that it was very good.
Food was good, slightly salty. Service and drinks were great.
Fun menu, open kitchen, good service and delicious options. It is directly in the Hilton lobby which felt odd at first but it filled up and the bar side stayed busy; great place to pop into for food and drinks.
Food was delicious and so were the drinks. The Spanish guitar playing was perfect too.
Loved the experience and will definitely be back for an evening with friends.
I love Tapas, so that you can try different flavors. Wines by the glass were great...and overall a fun relaxing vibe.
Lobby restaurant with good food but just ok service
I thought my first time was great...this one was even better! The live music was phenomenal. It's almost unfair for me to write this review because it almost felt as if this whole experience was dedicated to me; even the songs, I knew most of them. I traveled many places while being there.
Did I mention that I absolutely love this place???
It was great the staff was so nice and my husband loved his birthday dinner!
We came for a birthday and had a lovely experience. The food was excellent and the service was friendly. We will definitely be coming back.
All was amazing; atmosphere, service, great ambience and location, music, great artsy statue of a longhorn bull, and the food was heavenly for meat lovers. Great for a date!
We have been here multiple times and while the service has been okay the food was always great. This time service was great but the food was not up to par. All our dishes were cold.
We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. Great bar seating. The manchego cheese, tuna tartare and chicken dish was delicious. General manager very attentive. Lori the bartender was excellent. We will go again.
And there was nice music playing!
Service was slow even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Good ambiance.
What a great place! It is a hidden gem inside the Hilton in Woburn/Stoneham! We had the best waiter ever, Zach, who is usually at the bar. He made GREAT wine recommendations and awesome food suggestions that were right on! The atmosphere is lovely, parking is plentiful, and it was just a fun night!
What an unexpected gem of a place - spectacular setting cool design wonderful menu and we had an amazingly pleasant and skilled server who made suggestions, paced our evening and guided our choices! Will def go back frequently!
Our waitress was delightful, as was the whole staff. The food was really enjoyable - it’s hard to pick favorites, but the shishito peppers and the olives were up at the top! Overall a relaxing and really pleasant way to spend our anniversary. We’ll certainly be back!
We sat at the chef's table which was a cool experience being so close to the grill etc. Not sure if that's the reason why but our server would often disappear for long periods of time especially at the beginning when we taking our drink order etc.
The place was beautiful! Comfortable, great service. I was not completely satisfied with the Fritas Steak dish. The fries were too hard, the steak was a bit more on the salty side, and the portion was small. Considering that I am a small person and eat little, if we had not ordered some tapas, I would have stayed hungry.
Great atmosphere and yummy food. A little pricey for Woburn but would consider going back.
We did not have any problems with service like other reviewers. It is little slow but food was right on time. We love to food but there are many options in terms of tapas in Boston area. They need little more flavors. Kale salad was excellent!!! One of the best!!! We will for sure come back
