Excellent as always! So glad to have this place back up and running. Amazing food and service in a really cool setting.
Great to have this favorite restaurant back after a lengthy pandemic closure. Menu is shorter than before but they are expanding menu and hours by late August or early Sept. We ordered one of every Tapas menu item and it was plenty for 2-3 people. Such a variety of foods, all very good.
Amazing atmosphere and the food and drinks are great!
Our server also was so nice and the top! Thank you for the nice table and dinner!
nice atmosphere. very friendly and caring staff. food was good but not great as pre-covid. menu is smaller but that's ok. choice of music was out of place for a Spanish/tapas restaurant. I'd prefer something to fit in with the theme of the restaurant; Spanish and or ethnic music. plus the volume was too loud
This location is hot and vibrant, very inviting. However, the menu is very limited. Pictures of dishes served are outdated. Paella and octopus are not being served. They advertise as if they are up and running, their not. With so much potential, it was sad to see an establishment of this caliber fall super short. I suggest you take a few more moments carefully and find a different location to have a meal. If you’re accustom to a menu that will blow you away, this is not the place for you. Good luck.
Staff was incredible and outdoor seating was great. All the food was exceptional.
Amazing, great ambience and customer service!!
Oliver was great to us!
Delicious food and cocktails, and excellent service.
My daughter, son-in-law and grandson were up from DC visiting and one of two restaurants they wanted to visit again was Matadora. They were closed for quite awhile and I will assume they are trying to get their groove back. Or was it just an off night for our server. Although, I am not convinced of that. Rule one, do not blame another party for lack of follow through on service. We were prepared to spend a longer night but felt better to count on next visit for the experience we were accustomed to. Yes, we will be back. Oh yes, to make up for the off night the manager gave us a $20 gift card.
The quality and selection have declined since before Pandemic. This was always one of my favorite tapa places but I was very disappointed this time.
Always a good experience with great food.
Great service was never the hallmark of this restaurant and it was especially slow and disorganized last night.
We'll be back.
Great dinner, limited menu
Sangria too sweet
Great food and service!
Delicious tapas and such a friendly and attentive staff. We sat outside on a nice warm summer night. So relaxing!
There was no menu or food available. It was the hotel buffet breakfast. I am appalled that I was even able to make a reservation through Open Table when there was no food available. The menu on the restaurant website was not available upon arrival. After settling for the dried out, poor quality buffet food, I was charged over $20 per plate for the plate of awful food. Terrible experience for what was supposed to be a joyous breakfast celebration with a friend.
Great as usual…. No AC, though. Thanks to the host who seated us in front of a fan.
Limited menu but did great job having less to choose
Would you recommend Matadora to a friend? Yes I would. Good Service.
Matadora is inside the Hilton, so its menu is very limited (at least at this time), with 4 entrees. The steak fritas was very good, both the hanger steak and the french fries, though the chimichurri sauce was more sharp than herby. We ate outside, which was actually nice with the shade, though it's overlooking asphalt. The waiter was great.
A pleasant surprise! The staff was delightful and the food was creative and delishous!
Matadora had just reopened after being closed for 15 months due to COVID. The food was amazing, service was great and an overall wonderful experience!
First time at this restaurant
Delightful food in a big open space. Great for conversation.
Love it here, have been coming since it opened. Food is always great, love the atmosphere, live music. Server, Adrian, was fantastic, attentive and personable. Manager/Bartender, Zach, was super friendly and informative. Definitely try the burger, has a crust but is moist, sweet caramelized onions, buttery brioche bun. Arugula and mushroom salad with goat cheeses outstanding. Street corn is delicious!
I did not realize this restaurant is in a hotel, in an open area just off the lobby. It is a cavernous space -- very high ceilings. We found the room to be so cold that we ended up putting our jackets on (even though the hostess said she'd have the engineer turn up the heat). We theorize the heat was all going up into the vaulted ceiling.
The food was fine. We had calamari and the mushroom-cheese-salad tapas. Both were good, but it is a misnomer to call either tapas, as each one was a mound of food -- each came with a rounded serving on a platter that was at least 12"x6" (which explained the surprisingly high price for the tapas). It was so much food we had no room for additional tapas.
This was a Friday evening. The guitarist-singer wasn't bad, but seemed to take longer breaks than he played.
We think most of the patrons of the restaurant were staying at the hotel.
This would have zero stars if it wasn't for the manager coming over and taking care of us after we HAD to complain about the terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) service. Not once did we get asked how our food was. Mine was good hers was terrible. She didn’t even touch her meal. After 35 min sitting there with empty drinks, no water, and no server in sight the waitress came over and took our plates not even acknowledging the fact that her plate wasn’t touched. Never asked if I wanted another beer since the first one I received. Finally my gf asked to speak to a manager. He took care of us so it wasn’t a complete waist of time and money. However, we had to go elsewhere after this place to actually enjoy a meal and drinks together. I’d recommend it still to a friend because my food was good and I believe we just got a crappy waitress who was just a miserable person.
Best paella and most delicious tender olives I’ve ever had !both are not to be missed!
Service was great. The food was a bit so-so. The paella came out like a soup and had too much pickled onion and cilantro in it. The shrimp toast was quite good though.
We were a group of 8. Melissa, our server was Amazing! She was just so attentive and her recommendations for food and drinks..even the non-alcoholic ones were top notch! Our evening from beginning to end was just outstanding. We'll be back for sure!
My husband and I have dined at Matadora before and were very pleased the first time we dined. We live in the area and were very happy to have such a great place to dine within a short drive. This second time we dined on Valentines Day and were less than impressed. The steaks we had were good but were not worthy of the $44 and $48 price tags they carried. My potato and vegetable were both cold, and the potato was not mashed well at all, it tasted as if it had been sitting for a while, further by the look of the vegetable on my husband's plate as well as the potato, his appeared to be cold as well. We were seated by the window of the restaurant and there was a draft blowing in right above my head which considering, as cold as the evening was outside didn't really help matters. The sparkling rose cava that we were served was ok, but did not warrant the $13 per flute. My thought is that it was Valentines Day and that the restaurant didn't have it all quite together. The atmosphere was energetic and lively and the dining room was full, we'll give it another try at some point but this past Friday was lacking which was unfortunate.
Great food and location. We were able to sit and eat without constantly being bothered and enjoyed the music. It felt like we were in Spain. Food and service was fantastic. It was a pricey place so we may only go for special occasions.
When you enter the rotating doors towards hotel, the restaurant is openly to your left side. Its open inside the lobby, however still tucked away where you feel your dining out. Surrounding up top are hotels balconys & some patrons were out. It was a unique setting. We had a serving of Pan con tomate tapas which were very yummy. Then wood grilled chicken & a Matadore burger. The meals & drinks were served timely and cooked very well. The menu is short & selective, best to check online to get a feel before going. Some families checking into the hotel came to dinner also, with children maybe ages 5 to 7, etc, unsure if they have kids menus as overall dining vibe is geared towards adults. Beautiful iron bull in lobby, host took pucs of us there. Highly recommend!
We had a nice experience. We love the variety of tapas. Great cocktails, terrific service. A delightful escape with an extremely talented guitar player and singer.
Not crowded, but service slow
Ordered sangria which took a very long time to come (had to ask again and it arrived with the entrees) and was very watery
Entrees not as good as the tapas: stick with the small plates
I have been before; this was a disappointing visit
We tried a variety of tapas options from the marinated olives (which seemed like they were straight of the jar, disappointing) The shrimp toast, mussels, papa fritas, flaming chorizo and the octopus were amazing. The e drinks were sensational and the churro was delicious.
Fabulous Tapas...try the mussels!!
Our party of 4 had Paella which was too hot, spicy and salty. Could not eat it, it was impossible. Our waiter was excellent, replaced with other dishes that were good. Bad experience!
Great all around
Server must have had too many tables to tend too which may explain the long wait times. She did look tired too but the manager should have taken action on this.
The cheese platter was not that great. We had to ask for bread given we had cheese and jams on it. We wanted a second order of calamari but we were told it ran out.
We were also advised that dessert was going to take long so we decided to pass instead.
