   The food is absolutely delicious! The quality of everything was spectacular. The service was so friendly and kind. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. Best sushi I have had in the Gold Coast, I make sure to go every time I visit. The gyosas are so good, the sashimi was sushi incredible quality, make sure to also get the miso eggplant, it’s probably the best eggplant I’ve ever tasted. Can’t wait to go back.

   After a lifetime of eating out this was one of those rare memorable experiences where the flavours of each dish were outstanding. The kingfish carpaccio was amazing as was the miso eggplant, the pork ribs and the black cod was next level. All accompanied by an Italian pecorino white wine which complemented the experience. Highly recommended to any lover of Japanese food.

   We always have a wonderful time at Massu Izakaya. The staff are consistently friendly and provide excellent service. In particular, Shin-san’s delicate and refined dishes, especially his creative cuisine, were once again truly outstanding. We hope he continues to delight us with his delicious creations. Also, a big thank you to Taiga and kitchen staff Yuuto, who looked after our table with great attentiveness—it really made a difference! Consul-General really enjoyed the night with us.

   When we came back for our second time to this restaurant, we were really hoping our first experience wasn’t a fluke. It wasn’t. Masu Izakaya is a great restaurant with attentive staff, amazing food, an upbeat vibe, and while not cheap the value for money is quite good given the quality. We’ll likely make a stop here whenever we holiday on the Gold Coast now.

   We had Valentine’s Day dinner. They were busy, fully booked, but we enjoyed close attention from the wait staff. Our meals arrived in good time for such a busy night. The food was really impressive. My new favourite chicken teriyaki. I highly recommend Masu Izakaya.

    We had the rudest waitress, she told us we could not make alterations to anything on the menu even though one of our party were allergic to salmon. We were not even allowed to add ice to our cocktails as that was considered an alteration. And the way she spoke to us was condescending and so rude. If you are going to work in hospitality you probably should bring a better attitude. The main meals came out first and we got entrées last. It took them 30mins for them to come and get our drink order which we had to ask for them to do, and then we were told that we only had a 90 min seating window. Women's Toilets had no toilet paper, one of the locks were broken and the seat was missing in the last one. So classy!! Worst experience ever!
