Fantastic experience! Great service. Food is outstanding, we’ve been coming to Mastro’s several times a year.
Came for my wife’s birthday. Everything was amazing. Service fantastic. Food delicious. Always a great experience.
The service and the food were outstanding! We had a 6:00pm reservation on a Friday, before going to the theater, and we were seated within a couple of minutes. We had excellent and generous martinis. The servers were attentive but did not rush us. Our meal choices were all delicious and perfectly cooked (roasted beet salads, filet, opah fish special, shoestring potatoes). Looking forward to visiting again.
As always the food was delicious and our waiter was very attentive and cheerful.
Always a good time at Mastro's Thousand Oaks. The service is high quality, the food is tasty, and the prices are high. We went for our boy's 11th birthday. We started with the steak sashimi (really just a rare steak on a bed of mashed potatoes), shrimp cocktail, oysters and sashimi. My boy had the 32 oz Wagyu (shared with his dad), my daughter had the lamb chops (excellent). The only real complaint I would offer is that they really pack in the tables, such that it is a bit of a challenge to get in/out of your table; even making your way through the bar area to the side dining room can be difficult.
Always amazing. Every single time. Such a great place!
The food and service are amazing. It's the level of dining that you would expect to get in a much larger city like New York . The seafood tower was fresh and decadent, the fois gras was wonderful, we also ordered a steak to share and butter cake for dessert - large enough for 3-4 people to share. The waitress was wonderful, she helped guide us through the menu and help with ordering. This is a pricey dining experience. We had the above and 3 cocktails and our bill was $600 for 3. That is why I am recommending it most for a special occasion, although many of the diners we saw there looked like regulars.
Great dinner, excellent service. Will be back soon.
This was for a birthday. Service was very good. They did forget to bring an item but it was corrected quickly. I ordered the chicken. I was advised it was a new better recipe. It was extremely salty so I didn’t eat it. But the sides were great and the bread so I didn’t leave hungry. Dessert given to my friend for her birthday was excellent. Prices are astronomical. I’m not cheap by any means but $40 for a chicken is ridiculous. I get you’re paying for ambiance and service but really? And the sides are not included. I’ve been here before and will come back again for special occasions because it’s upscale but wouldn’t go regularly- not because we can’t afford it, it’s you can’t justify the cost.
Our server was excellent. She knew we were going to a show, so was helpful making sure we got out in plenty of time. My friend invited me to a show at the Civic Center so I suggested going to one of my favorite restaurants, Mastro's. She had never been there. It started out with the most delicious and impressive Lemon Drop martinis!! My friend and I haven't been able to visit for several months, so we were looking forward to catching up on each other's lives. I truly don't remember Mastro's being so noisy. It really was not easy to carry on a conversation. Our dinner was very good. Oh, the other thing I was surprised about, I gave my Landry's card at the time we were paying and was told Mastro's did not accept it???? Over all, it was a good experience.
Mastro's Thousand Oaks never disappoints. The guest service is always top-notch and the food is always amazing - and I always save room for the Warm Butter Cake!
Went here for a bachelor party meal, really special experience. Service was top notch, our waiter was very nice and helpful, and fast. They could tell we really liked the pretzel bread and brought a ton over to the table. Filet is maybe best I have ever had in my life, so tender. Garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and delicious, Gorgonzola mac and cheese was just the right amount of gooeyness. Vodka martini with two stuffed blue cheese olives made me forget the work week really quick. Thank you Mastros, your awesome staff, drinks, and food made my buddies bachelor party meal an awesome experience.
Very enjoyable experience, music was excellent
Service was terrible, we won't be back. Poor service ruins the experience.
Excellent veal chop, which is hard to find these days. Oysters Rockefeller were a huge disappointment. We have had them here several times and they have always been great, but these were undersized and tasteless. The manager asked if we liked them, we said no and he kindly removed them from the bill. The complimentary birthday cake was fantastic. Overall a very good experience.
We specially told the server we had to leave by 7:20 to make the show, that didn’t happen and we missed the first act of the show
We had to pour our own wine. Our server was too busy with other tables. The service was below average for the price we paid
Tamaha porter house!!! Salad, veggie, potatoes, desert
Epic fail on a very special occasion. We were there to celebrate a 50th birthday, which we specified in the reservation. When the hostess tried to stick us on the patio, we asked for a better table given the occasion. She rolled her eyes and said, incredibly, that we didn’t note it was a special occasions. We had. They then put us at a table for 4, but we were 6 people. We asked if there were other options, but understood that there were no other tables. But then, we sat there FOR 45 MINUTES without a waiter coming over. When we finally flagged one down, he said he wasn’t the waiter in a complete affected tone. That’s when it got worse. We decided to leave, realizing that the staff was just going to shun us for having complained. The birthday girl was understandably upset—Mastro’s had ruined her 50th birthday—and let the Manager on duty know. Until then the Manger had been accommodating, trying to find us table options. But rather than being at all sympathetic to how upset she was, he decided to go toe-to-toe with her and insult her, which just kept escalating the matter. So much for Managers trying to defuse tense situations. The last I heard him he was screaming that she’d be banned from Mastro’s as she was going to the valet. He said she had been rude with the staff (upset was more accurate) without acknowledging how rude it was that a waiter didn’t come over for 45 minutes. But more importantly, he just doesn’t have the skill set to deal with an understandably upset customer.
It’s a shame because the food there is incredibly good (not that we had any last night). But their whole staff is incredibly affected and acts like they are doing you a favor if they even speak to you.
Always love Mastros!!!
Great waiter. Lots of fun and great food. Great wine list.
Dinner was fantastic, waiter was amazing, it was a little loud but it the tables were all full so I can understand the noise
The noise level was ridiculous. I like restaurants to be a little noisy because you can have a conversation and feel the white noise affords you a little privacy even in a crowded room, but this was way too much. No exaggeration, I was yelling to get the waitress attention as she walked by, and she couldn’t hear me.
The food was unimpressive.
I am really not sure why this place is so popular.
Mastro’s food and service is always impeccable. This time was no exception. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that the table behind us with 10 people were extremely loud. I have never experienced anything like this at Mastro’s. I wish the manger would have ask them politely to keep their voices down.
Our server Jan Paul was extremely nice and professional.
Excellent food and service. Very attentive staff.
Food was less rich than precious visits (a good thing).
Awesome food and service. All I have to say but this 50 character stuff is a PITA!
Mastro’s Quality is consistently good with their food and drinks. Be careful when ordering your drinks. If you ask for a glass of champagne for instance and see it on the menu for $11, your server will assume that you would much rather enjoy the $28 glass without mentioning this.
Amazing food and service. Order the lobster mashed potatoes and you won’t be disappointed!
Amazing as alwaya
This was an expensive dinner for four, but it was my father in law’s 91st birthday and he deserved it. I would only eat here for special occasions, very pricey.
We always have such a wonderful time at Mastro’s. Everyone goes above and beyond what you would expect. Pricey, but worth every penny!
It’s went really well. Thank you for great food, service and ambiance!
Great early dinner. Staff was great and our server JP was amazing!!
We had a nice time but I feel like if you don’t get drinks and spend a lot of money then you are treated different.
Truly amazing restaurant. Food was amazing, service was outstanding and ambiance was wonderful. Had the tomahawk waygu steak best I have ever had.Warm butter cake is addicting!!
Thanks Mastro's for a wonderful experience.
Good food with decent ambiance and entertainment, though a little loud for a date night. Would suggest other options if conversation is paramount to the evening.
My wife's steak was good, but overpriced. I ordered the pork chop for a change and asked the server if it was juicy, nothing worse than a DRY porkchop, that's what I got. He said medium was pink in the middle and juicy, solid white no flavor except in the sauce, no juice. The lettuce wedge was a petite CHOPPED salad, not a wedge.
It was our second time there because my wife loves the Lemon Drop cocktail; it will be our last.
Everything is way over priced. Doesn't come close to Larsen's Grill (not the steakhouse). Been to The Grill in Simi several times and find the food and service is far superior, and though pricey, still less than Mastro's. The price vs. quality at Mastro's is way out of line.
Soft piano music in a bar is always pleasant. Mastro's isn't that. It's LOUD and amplified, not soothing at all.
Been here many times and will be bac many more times.
Steak was under cooked and service was very slow. Lobster mashed potato was not as good as expected.
Kelly was wonderful and we had a lovely meal.
The food and service are great, and at the end of the day that is the most important thing. But unfortunately they overbook the restaurant, so even though we had made a reservation weeks before, they were very backed up and we had to wait quite a while for our table. What makes this more problematic than other restaurants is that Mastro's serves full dinner to every seat in the bar including all the seats at the bar, so there is no good place to have a drink and wait for your table.
Wonderful as usual.
