Food was great, service too. Getting seated was a problem. My wife and I got there 15 minutes before our reservations. We sat at the bar and had drinks. The maitre d said he would come get us when our table was ready. We saw several couples get seated at open tables. After 30 minutes I went to ask. We were seated at a table for four.
Ordered fish at a steakhouse-my bad
Consistently top notch.
Excellent as always!
Worst service. Had to ask the waiter multiple times for a myriad of things. Only came up to our table once to check on everything, the other times required us to wave them down or ask another server to get ours. I don’t know what I was expecting at this location, perhaps more of a formal dining similar to that of Beverly Hills. The formal dining at this location is in very close quarters with the bar seating, where the live band (although good) was way too loud and almost ruined our experience as we had to shout over the table at each other. Definitely not your typical formal dining experience. Drive the extra miles to the Beverly Hills location to get the full experience. The ambience here is like Cheesecake Factory. Will not be returning.
Mastros has the best steaks of any restaurant I have been to. This is our go-to restaurant for any special occasion or just for an intimate dinner. Service is always fantastic and the food to die for.
Maybe it's because I remember Mastro's in Beverly Hills a few years back (when it wasn't average). Maybe it's because they didn't do anything special or offer anything special (like a cake with a candle, what Mastro's Beverly Hills does). Maybe it's because this one is in Thousand Oaks and that's just how it is in TO. Or, maybe it's because Mastro's is simply played out and slowly dying out as the owners open new locations everywhere striving for quantity over quality... Average food, below average service, very below average ambiance and horrible valet parking (yah, two guys working there and took about 10 minutes to get my car). Sad because I do remember when Mastro's was great, and wow was it great. Now it's just overpriced and played out. Sad.
We’ve been here about four times, and we always reflect on our experience for months to come, and begin plotting our return almost immediately afterwards. The steak is always prepared on the mark and never disappoints the taste buds - one of the best filets I’ve ever tried! They have a great drink menu too, pricey, but goes with the ambience and overall quality of service, and food. Dessert is always perfect - try the warm butter cake!! If you’ve never been, then I would say this place is a “must” try. Price overall is between $100-150 per person, depending on drinks, and food choices. Money saving tip We always bring a bottle of Prisoner: Red Blend or Cabernet, and they charge a $20-25 bottle service fee, saves us about $40-50, off the top.
Love your restaurant very much! We Save up to enjoy a special meal occasionally! My Husband has stage 4 cancer and we thank God and appreciate each and every day. Your restaurant is outstanding that is for sure ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for going above and beyond❤️🙏❤️

Fantastic as always. I wish I could afford to eat here more often, but definitely worth the money.
Excellent food, service, and ambience, as usual. Also, great live music. This particular night, it was excessively crowded and despite our reservation at 8:15, we were seated around 9. So, we spent almost 2 hours at the bar, as we got there a little after 7!
The dress code says Semi-Formal but is not strictly enforced.
Madhouse when we arrived. Table preferences not honored. Restauran overbooked so waited a long time for a table - despite having a reservation. Seated at horruble table - so noisy. (AFTER SPECIFICALLY REQUESTING & RESERVING TABLE IN QUUETER AREA OF RESTAURANT). Finally pushed to be moved to a nearby, AVAILABLE AT THE TIME WE WERE SEATED AT THE FIRST TERRIBLE TABLE, table in a quiet corner!!!! There we at long last received 5 star, amazing service and delicious food & drinks. Mastros needs to get their act together and manage reservations & seating requests better. We are not the only customers in oyr area who feel like this.
Dinning Prior to New West Symphony Concert. Loved it.
Food is worth coming for... however always feel so crammed in ...seating arrangements need to be seriously thought out a bit better....
A perfect evening from beginning to end!! The food and the service were exceptional. I only wish they had regular booths
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Really enjoyed ourselves.
I usually enjoy Mastro's and feel that the quality of the food is outstanding. However, this time, my meat was not as hot as it usually is. I'm sure if I had sent it back it would have been remedied but my son had already sent his back as being too rare and was having to wait for his service. Perhaps my problem was that I asked not to be served on a hot plate since I've been burned before. I was surprised that the meat (medium rare) was not hot in itself - only lukewarm.
excellent in all ways, great server, great food, great ambiance
Superb as ever!
The website indicated grass fed options from a particular farm in Kern County. Although a reference to that farm existed on the menu, the restaurant had discontinued that farm/its products, and the only similar choice was an "all natural" choice...far off the mark. There were no organic choices, including among vegetables/potatoes, and other sides (and the bread served was uninspired white bread with variable seasoning/toasting). The music was loud, of a kind of generic pop music that seemed intrusive, uninspired and inappropriate. The server seemed much more affected than knowledgeable, and though affable was often not appropriately attentive (for pouring wine for example) and even sometimes absent overlong. Lastly, knowing it was all factory food, I later looked up the $75 bottle of wine we ordered on the internet: easily procured for under $20 (an acceptable French table wine). My guess is the food markup is similar. I am not one to complain regarding expense when the "product" deserves it; however, if you want comfort factory food that is surely well marked up, pretty well prepared, and with a passable atmosphere/service, in short, if you prefer canola oil to olive oil, artificialities like "truffle oil", white bread to creatively baked fuller-grain bread, corn-fed to grass fed, non-organic to organic, etc etc, then Mastro's is for you. It was an expensive, mediocre disappointment for us...the essence of uninspired, non-sustainable dining it would be nice to feel was disappearing.
Wagyu was prepared terribly sloppy. Inexcusable.
The food was great! But the service was very poor wait up to 20 min for are waiter to come back and ask if we want dessert . It was to late my wife was already upset, it was our anniversary! Thanks !
We had a wonderful time celebrating our 24th Anniversary. The entire experience from the food, to the service, and the entertainment was great! We are happy that we requested the lounge area. Thank you!
Went to dinner for my birthday food was great but service was kinda slow. Most of the time we have been service has been great but our server had his hands full so it took a little longer than it normally does. But would still go back in a heart beat.
Service was absolutely terrible and i was really looking forward to a nice evening. Our server took forever to serve drinks, waited 25 minutes for bread, made a reservation but was seated at a small table in the corner of the bar. My martini was too strong, didn’t drink it at all, server didn’t even notice. Took at least 20 minutes to flag someone down for the check.
Service was exceptional! Our entre was a little salty for my dates taste, so manager came over and offered flourless chocolate cake for dessert, that was amazing. Lobster bisque soup was rich and flavorful.
Very classy restaurant, but a bit loud and crowded.
As always, Mastro’s delivers. Great food, awesome wine list with new additions. Great service and a great ambiance.
I was very surprised at how lose they were about the dress code. Went for our first time for an anniversary. It was much less then I expected. If the food was cheaper I’d go back. The value wasn’t there for the price.
My wife and I were celebrating our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. Ordered 2 steaks medium and after waiting over an hour we finally got our food, and steaks were well done. Our waitress noticed how they looked (both were charred black on the outside) and she wanted to return them and get new ones cooked properly. However, that came at a cost and by the time we got them (30 min later) our sides were cold and we were mostly full. The steaks were cooked medium, but still charred black on the outside. Our sides, garlic mashed potatoes were really great though. Top notch.
Really disappointed because it was our first time at Mastros. They took care of us by taking the sides off the check. So service is Grade A, unfortunately for us the food was not.
I hadn't been to Mastro's for about 5 years. First, I'll admit I was a bit shocked to see that the price of a NY strip steak is $60, without anything to accompany it. Dinner salads, starting at $18 also seemed a bit much.
OK, this said, I absolutely loved it. Our waiter was excellent: charming, attentive, witty and very capable. Our Steaks were the best. At most fine steak houses, I can't finish my steak because of all the butter it is cooked in. But I ate every scrap of my NY at Mastro's because it was so good, and it was cooked with a small about of butter.
The Burratta, the sauteed asparagus and Profiteroles (for dessert) were also delicious.
But, the other outstanding feature of Mastros' was the music on the Tuesday night we were there. A male and female combo, they played great songs, most of them - current hits, and both were exceptional singers. They were really great. I can't wait to get back there.
Fantastic as always. We love going to the TO location. The food and service are always top notch.
Spectacular! That is all I wanted to say. But the Review site said that I had to write fifty characters. So here is what I have to say. Spectacular!
My server was amazing, the food was delicious and service was exceptional as usual!
The food was out of this world! Our waiter was fantastic. However, Mastros was very crowded, and loud. My wife and I prefer a more intimate setting.
It was a wonderful evening. We were seated a little early so we could get to the theater in time. We walked through the kitchen to get to the dining room. It had the feel of a garden room but several times the door was left open and the noise from the kitchen ruined much of the mood. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly an attentive. The only negative experience was the door being left open.
First and foremost, our server Tim was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu and attentiveness was GREAT! We typically dine at Ruth’s Chris for steak but just may have found our go to. I can’t believe we waited so long to dine at Mastro’s. We will be back!!!
This is an upscale restaurant. The steaks melt in your mouth because they are so tender. They are cooked to perfection and taste amazing. Many different side dishes and salads to choose from. For dessert you must try the butter cake. It was incredible! It is a very pricey restaurant though.
Great service and excellent food. Food server was very knowledgeable and helpful in ordering our meal and making sure everything was to our satisfaction.
Everything was great! Lobster Bisque was outstanding! In the past, we’ve had the Lobster mashed potatoes, which is great. This time, we decided to try the Crab Gnocchi which we felt was a little over priced since there was not much crab to be found. Live entertainment was very nice. Server (Tyler) was attentive.
