Nueske's Maple Glazed Bacon Steak
Mastro's Red Velvet Butter Cake
Table of six for an 80th birthday dinner. Seated on side patio, not in main dining room as requested, soooo noisy we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. Leslie? or Wesley? our waiter was not happy in his work. Two steaks needed to go back because they were not cooked as requested, we ordered medium, they were very rare and still cold in the center……. No green beans, no onion rings, no spinach salad, all things available in the past…… De cafe espresso only. We have eaten at Mastros Thousand Oaks, and Malibu many, many times, never had such a bad experience as last night. Whatever happened to Mastros fine dining????? Don’t think we will be returning anytime soon….. An expensive dinner that didn’t meet anyone’s expectations…….
Everything was great. The lemon drop martinis worth the price of admission alone.
Fathers Day!! It was outstanding!!
The noise level was way too high. The service was slow! The server had too many tables! The price if fish - way too expensive.
Our waiter was great and gave us great service.
Your corkage fee is outrageous..
Food was good but not great. First time that we were not happy with the food.
We had the most wonderful time last night for our anniversary. The food was excellent. The service was amazing. Our server Eric provided some of the best service we had in many years. His attention to detail, his wonderful suggestions, and his all-around competency was absolutely divine. Thank you, Eric, for making our 32nd anniversary a memorable one. Mastro’s is lucky to have you as part of their team! We will be back; and if lucky, you will be serving our table once more. Cheers!
Dinner was excellent, food is always outstanding.
My husband and I have been to Mastro’s many times in the past and our dining experience on this particular visit did not live up to our expectations. We dined here on Saturday evening with our two children (ages 10 & 12) and my brother-in-law. They seated us right away at a corner table near a doorway where the wait staff kept going in and out of, which was not so great. The lights were lit so dimly that we had to pull out our phones to see the menu. The lighting is usually low, but on this particular evening it was really low.
Some of the appetizers and entrees were great, but most were just so-so and not worth the prices they charge on the menu. For starters, the Mastro’s salad was amazing, as usual, but the Himachi appetizer and the sautéed shrimp were just meh. The Himachi had some kind of strange sauce drizzled on it that tasted like a mix between hoisin sauce and soy sauce, but was not very appetizing. My kids, who usually love sushi, took one bite and wouldn’t eat any more. The grilled shrimp, which our server told us was not spicy, actually had a kick to it. For $28, we got 3 small shrimp on a platter with a ton of the spicy sauce and 3 parmesan crostini’s. Nice presentation, but the flavor was just so-so. My kids usually can’t get enough of their mac and cheese, but even that tasted off that evening.
My husband and his brother both said their porterhouse & ribeye were amazing!!! The mashed potatoes and sautéed broccoli were also delicious. The chilean sea bass, on the other hand, tasted very dry & lacked flavor. I order chilean sea bass all the time and this order was a complete let down. Bottom line - if you plan to order steak, you will not be disappointed. Apart from the steaks, most everything else was disappointing. This is especially true considering the $500 bill!
Great service!!! Michael was amazing!
Happy to be out in a lively setting for my wife's birthday. Decided to enjoy the appetizers: oysters, crab cakes, mac 'n cheese. All outstanding. Server Brooke and assistant Ian were especially busy, and exceptional in their service.
We made a reservation for outdoors. When we arrived we were told that they were not serving outside any longer. They did not call us in advance to notify us. We ate uncomfortably inside where it was crowded and noisy.
Our waitress seemed new and had difficulty getting our bottle of wine correct.
The bone in filet was just ok. It may be a while before returning.
we were greeted by valet, then seated almost immediately. our server was excellent,
the food and wine was very good. the whole experience was very relaxing and enjoyable
we plan to return very soon. thank again for a wonderful dinner.
Celebrating our son’s recent wedding and seeing his Grandfather finally after 2 years… it was a great evening. Our waiter was exceptional. Thank you.
Great evening. Great service. Great food. Truly enjoyable
Valet lost my car. They had a live band that was completely off pitch, the server barely came to my table, didn’t get my food for over an hour. My steak was over cooked. For starters I go to Mastros ocean club all the time and love it. My wife and I bought a house in TO and wanted to try this location out. This will be our last visit.
Trevor was absolutely terrible. Didn’t remove the wine glasses since none of us drank wine. Medium steak came rare.
I asked for napkins they never came. Water was empty. I go to this mastros all the time like once a month for the last 8 years and hands down the worst service we had by far. There was 8 of us and had the worst service. Do better guys not sure what is happening, but this is going to draw people away.
Great food as always
Valet was not run efficiently at all. Service was mediocre, food was good, and the music/singer was great!
This was a graduation celebration meal for 7 people. Overall food was excellent and wait staff were attentive and friendly. My only gripe with mastros Thousand oaks is the long wait time to be seated. Our reservation was 7.45 and we were sat down around 8.30..45 minute stood in the sun in a crowded parking lot...is not much fun. Its not the first time this has happened here even before covid issues. Considering the price tag to eating here you would think they would be better organized. Does not make you feel great about re booking..lots of other choices for a great steak locally including Mortons in Woodland hills where this never happens to me.
Birthday, took my wife to dinner, everything was great, as always!
Great food, as always! Very busy tonight, the busiest I have seen since in a year. Don’t sit in the bar if you want to have a conversation with anyone. Music was good, but loud.
The service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. Although the outdoor dining was not what I expected, I still had a lovely dining experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The only problem was the parking. We opted for Valet but couldn’t even get in. Had to find outside parking and walk. Luckily we had arrived early or could have lost our reservation.
Very disappointing for what was supposed to be a graduation celebration. We were placed in the back corner of a tent, had very poor service, and the food was not nearly as good as it has normally been.
Loved the food, loved our server. But service was VERY slow. Sat down, were not greeted for about five minutes. From salad to meal, 25 minutes to arrive. From meal to dessert, 30 minutes. Seriously. We got the check and nobody came back for it in over ten minutes - actually two of us just came up with cash and gave it to the third person because we had to go.
I love this restaurant but the additional costs are just ridiculous. $15 for butter? Our service was prompt and great. Food was great...but its just not at the level it could or should be for the overall expense. Dinner for 7 was almost $800 with only a few cocktails.
Our waiter Michael was amazing, and made our daughter Brianna feel so special. It was her graduation dinner. He brought her a special dessert with writing in the plate without anyone asking for special treatment. He made the night! Food was incredible.
Great service and lovely atmosphere. The live music was fantastic
We arrived late and it was very busy due to graduations but we still were seated fast. I didn't love my table location and I should have asked to move so that was on me. The food was delicious! It's very pricy but worth it especially for a special occasion birthday/graduation that we were clebrating.
So disappointed in the service. Empty plates sat on table, had to ask for water refills. Waiter forgot our drinks. Busboys walked past us all night without taking dirty dishes away. Waiter appeared only 2-3 times throughout our dinner. The female manager was crass, and seemed as though we were putting her out. The special occasion dessert that we received, arrived with the name spelled wrong. Was such a disappointment, the entire experience.
Excellent food, but the service was appalling slow. Not sure if graduation parties were causing delays, but for such an expensive meal, I was very disappointed in waiting extraordinarily long between every single contact point with our waitress. It got worse and worse throughout the meal, and ended with dessert a good 20 minutes after coffee, and a cold butter cake. Bummer.
I wouldn’t go back
Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Food and service was exceptional! It is expensive but well worth the cost!
So happy to be back inside!! Always a wonderful dining experience!
Generally, we love Mastro's. Not this night. Service was off and slow. Bread was cold. Appetizers arrived shortly before the main entrees. Waiter was oblivious. Proper plating requires more than food put on a plate. A disappointment tonight.
Hint: When you have the appetizers and the main entrees on the table at the same time something is off.
Great place and service for our anniversary! Well worth it ,
I had lunch at Geoffreys the day before, and i liked the food and presentation better. Mastros has excellent food and service, but is pricey and the presentation and quality of the food is 2nd to Geoffreys.
