Mastro's Steakhouse - Thousand Oaks Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food and service especially for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary as they serve an amazing butter cake on a plate with writing specific for your occasion. Good portion sizes for salads and sides. You pay for this level of service and food, but well worth it.
The food as always was delicious. We had a 5 pm reservation and it was packed when we arrived. We weren't seated until 5:20 pm. We were told by the hostess that we would be seated in order of our arrival, however two parties who arrived after us were seated before us even though we had the same reservation time. The hostess recommended we sit in the bar even though we had reservations and were there for our 11th wedding anniversary. When we asked about what the delay was the hostess seemed annoyed.
We waited 15 minutes to get a server/water, then still needed menus, steak was not cooked as ordered, they took it back and we were all done by the time steak came back......server never came to check on us we had to ask another random server to cook steak more. We got bill and CC sat on table for 15+minutes till I had to talk to manager and gave me attitude
Very positive experience. Very responsive to our request for quieter table location due to my spouses severe hearing impairment. Really appreciated that kindness. Food was delicious, steaks both fillets & NY Strip were great as was Chilean Sea Bass. Celebrated our grandson’s 14th birthday. Outstanding!
Greeted warmly and seated promptly at table in Napa Room as requested. Service with Tyler was excellent, very attentive and engaging as appropriate. Visits with acquaintances were really nice and greatly appreciated. Very exciting to see Adrian, back from Ocean Club Malibu, and so on his game, really enjoyed seeing him again. Accordingly, Food was FABULOUS !! Big Eyed Ahi was incredible, perfect Sashimi Grade. Enjoyed Beet & Goat Cheese Salad, wonderful flavors.
Had: Scallops on Risotto with Truffles, 2 KC Bone In Steaks, 1 Bone In Filet, Rack of Lamb, 1 Roast Chicken, Scalloped Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Fries, & Butter Cake. EVERYTHING was PERFECT, I had the Bone in Filet, and it was one of the Best Steaks I have had, Yo Adrian !! Tasted KC Steak, Lamb, Scallop & Chicken and they were all Perfection, flat Nailed.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped make our evening so much fun and a great dining experience, and Especially Adrian, we are so pleased that you are back in Charge in the Kitchen !! We will be back more frequently now.
First time dining at Mastro's. Booked through Open Table and received reminders of my reservation as well as a courtesy call from the restaurant the day before. I requested a quiet table for 4 to celebrate an 80th birthday. We were seated in a room behind the kitchen that was perfect for an intimate dinner. Taylor our waiter was fantastic! He explained to us the sourcing of the various steaks, made suggestions for sides, and kept an eye on our table throughout the evening. The other support staff were very efficient and friendly. Shrimp cocktail came dramatically smoking from dry ice, roasted beet salads with goat cheese were amazing, all of our various steaks were cooked to perfection, and the Gorgonzola mac and cheese was delicious. The "frosting on the cake" was a complimentary slice of dark chocolate layer cake with fresh whipped cream and birthday candle. (enough for four to have a little after an very filling meal). Corkage was pricey as $35, but we enjoyed our
Fess Parker wine just the same. Dinner for 4 about $400. Not an every week restaurant, but worth the splurge for a special occasion.
I have been to the Mastro’s is Orange County, Beverly Hills, and Malibu and enjoyed every moment of the experience and phenomenal food. The Thousand Oaks location was an abysmal disappointment that began with a disorganized host area, cluttered seating, a table without any place settings, and mediocre bone-in ribeyes. Our reservation was at 6:45 pm but we were not seated until after 7:50pm. The only refreshing factor of the evening was our server, Marcus. This location does not deserve the respected brand it carries.
Our reservation was at 8:45. We got there at 8:00 and we were promised to be seated earlier but it did not happen until last 9:00. The front desk staff were not professional at all. Seemed like bunch of high school kids were running the show. FYI: been going to Mastro’s nationwide for 15 years now and this was the worst experience. If they have experienced people up in front, even the one hour wait can be more pleasant.
