Mastro's Steakhouse - Thousand Oaks Ratings and Reviews
Service was absolutely amazing! From the valet, bartender, waitress, busboys, even a manager coming to our table to ask how everything is. Just wonderful. Then there was the food which was delicious, as expected, every time I come I’m always fully satisfied.
We have been to mastros before and had excellent service, I mean excellent service, so for my 23rd anniversary I knew exactly where to go to make it and amazing evening!! My food was excellent and amazing! But ,The waiter was beyond awful!! I saw him 2 times all evening if it wasn't for a gentleman cleaning tables 2 tables away I would have never ever received a refill on my ice tea.. my husband ordered a beer it took 20 minutes to get the beer the waiter said the bar is backed up your just going to have to wait.. I tried twice to get more bread and I not successful at all.. the dinner was ultimately ruined due to the service!! I really made a mistake in choosing this for a really special occasion!! ☹️ I'm not to sure if I'll go to mastros again to be honest... it is kind of pricey but the food really is amazing..
I made a dinner reservation at 6:15pm on 11/11 for my husbands 60th. We arrived at 6:00 and were told our table would be ready 15-20 minutes. I had requested the Piano Lounge so we could hear the music. We were finally seated around 6:50pm in the Lounge. The rectangular table was against the wall between the bar and I believe the kitchen because there was a lot of staff walking past. Because we had 5 people, my son sat at the end of the table and was bumped at least 8 times. The noise was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. We asked if we could move and were told that we could order drinks at the table while we waited. About half an hour later, we were moved to the room next to the lounge with a round table which was perfect for a party of 5. We were ready to leave the restaurant just before we were moved. We had already looked at the menus while we waited, but had to wait another 20 minutes to order. Our steaks were good but the sides dishes were marginal. However, the bday dessert was great. We usually really enjoy the restaurant and food, but I don't think we will be returning to this location.
Mastro's was anazing, as always. The food is consistently superb, and the desserts are to die for. Their butter cake is out of this world! Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful when making recommendations. Mastro's is hands down my favorite restaurant in Southern California.
This site showed a lot of availability but they were very busy when we got there. A delay in getting our menus but otherwise great service and food came out quickly.
My filet mignonette was a little crusty (charred) on the outside. Husbands was fine so may have been location on their grill.
We were asked where we would like to sit were the band is playing which is loud or the more intamite section, more quiet we chose the quiet section which was great until 2 party's came in and sat in the same area. One person in the party had a little too much to drink and was constantly cursing and playing music on her phone since the band hadn't started playing yet.I thought someone was gonna ask her to leave or turn off her music...never happened.next party arrived very loud had to talk over the other girls phone so if my and my wife wanted to communicate we would have to talk very loud. Not a romantic atmosphere tonight,FAILED.
I so badly want this location to live up to the Mastro's standard but it's been years of failure. Yes it's a popular location - but I think it's because there isn't enough competition. Make a reservation a head of time- and be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes for your reserved table. Then another 10-15 minutes for water, 10-15 minutes for your menu, and so on. It's as if you're begging to be served. It's not appropriate at this level of restaurant. The staff is very sweet and try to accommodate if you have complaints. But some one is really screwing up here by overbooking and reserving tables. You shouldn't have to complain to receive good service and to be seated at your reservation in a timely manner.
Service for our party of eight was excellent. Can't say the same for the food quality. Mastro's seems to be resting on their laurels. Preparation was inconsistent with how food was ordered or described. Very disappointed with overall food quality, especially at these prices. $1250 bill for a party of eight. Would expect top notch everything.
My wife and I ate at Maestro's in Thousand Oaks. The service was great, the crab cakes were great, the martinis were great ,the French onion soup was awesome but the my steak was horrible. My favorite steak is a bone-in ribeye which is what I ordered. My steak was cooked well however the quality of the steak was completely inedible. The steak was all grisly and so dry it was inedible. Maestro's offered to replace the steak so I asked if could get a ribeye with the cap portion but the manager said that Maestro's has the Ribeye steaks are cut without the cap so I was recommended to get the New York. I took they're advise and ordered the New York steak which was cooked well and tasted fine I was just very disappointed with my experience . For the money we spent $273 I expected much more from Maestro's.
Maestro's overall was very disappointing.
I have been going to Mastros since they opened their doors in Scottsdale, My brother who lived in Scottsdale was friendly with the owners at the time, I went to there GRAND OPENING. I've been very pleased with the Thousand Oaks location, The Beverly Hills location is very loud. Ocean Club is nice but the employees at the Malibu location have attitude when you check in. The food is great and I had great service Friday night, I enjoyed being in the back room beyond the kitchen.
I had the 12oz bone-in filet and it was done to perfection. My wife had the twin lobster tails and she enjoyed those as well. We had the scallops as an appetizer and they were the best I've eaten. The staff is friendly and happy yo help. They are really made the evening stand out. Excellent.
I think my rating speaks for itself. If you love spending lots of money and unable to hear the people at your own table, then this a great place for you. $55-70 for a piece of meat and nothing else on your plate without paying a lot for your sides....seriously!!!
Mastero's in Thousand Oaks is our favorite! Period. We have always experienced exceptional service, food and ambience! With the dynamic duo (JP and Brittany), it is always an outstanding experience dining at Mastero's! Those two always excel in customer service, listing the new specials, meal presentation, meal serving and their attentiveness! We appreciate their caring, professional demeanors and we always know that we are guaranteed an exceptional memorable evening! Thank you for going above and beyond every single visit!!!
We dine at Mastro's about twice a year and have noticed a recent decline in food and service. Last week we were there with a group of six and probably for the last time.
1) one of the drink orders was forgotten when they were brought out and we had to remind them
2) part of my $22 cocktail was spilled on the table in front of me and I was given a napkin to cover it. Was charged full price on bill
3) my wife's steak came out cool. Was cooked to proper temp and served Oscar style but it should be served hot
4) the food was served in a frenzy with hot skillets everywhere
5) I explained to my server I have a severe wheat allergy and requested no rub on the steak and gluten free soy on the tuna appetizer. The chef no longer seems to come out to discuss allergies but that's not a big deal or expected, but was a great touch when it used to happen. Both requests were done to order. When the server brought a complimentary slice of flour based b-day cake to me however, it showed a lack of attention to detail. My friends said it was good....
Overall the drinks, steaks, and sides were quite good but I'd like a better all around experience when paying $1,000 for a rare nice dinner out with friends.
