Mastro's Steakhouse - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went to Scottsdale for her Birthday so I made reservations in advance to make sure we could get a table. I put the reason was to celebrate a birthday. Mastro’s called the day of the reservation to confirm the reservation and acknowledge that we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter never acknowledged her Birthday. I don’t understand why businesses ask what the occasion is if they aren’t going to do anything. The Hotel that we stayed at did a cute little thing for her! It was our first time going to Mastro’s.
If you're going to spend the money to go to a high-end restaurant, nothing is better and more consistent than Mastro's. 5 star everything! Everything I have ever had on the menu for the last 15 years is the best compared to any other restaurant in the valley. Tonight we had Oysters, Split a Porterhouse with my wife and split a side of truffle butter mushrooms. Absolutely amazing. Drinks are big pours, so the value is there for wine and hand-crafted cocktails.
Wonder full evening to say the least. I read some reviews that said it was very noisy, but I went ahead anyway. When I arrived I asked the hostess Victoria to see if she could find me a table that was away from the bar, and she said she would see what she could do, being that it was valentines day, it might take a little while and asked to be patient. 10 minutes later we were shown to a great table on the left side of the bar that was perfect!
The waiter and his partner were a blast! very funny and very attentive. They were Ari and Drew, and they made the evening very special. The menu was very extensive, and I realized I left my reading glasses at home. Not to fear, Drew handed me a pair of readers and a small flashlight to take care of that problem! I ordered a 12 ounce fillet with a cold water prawn, with truffle butter for the fillet. My wife ordered a smaller fillet with the truffle butter as well, but left off the prawn. I have to tell you that the fillet was cooked perfectly medium rare and so was my wifes. The prawn was a monster, that had to be 6 ounces at least. After ordering a chopped iceberg salad and ate that prawn, I could only eat half the fillet. I was full. My wife knocked off her fillet and a twice backed potato without a sound. What an amazing treat. I forgot to mention I had a Sashimi appetizer to start with. I really over did it, but hey it was valentines day! They tried to bring me their famous butter cake, but I could not move. The bill was 250.00 for all that, but was it worth it?? You damn right it was. It was the best fillet I ever had, the service was spectacular, and when I go back( which will be soon) I will ask for the same waiters again. Do it!!! It is worth the price and then some.
I love the ambience and the decour of the restaurant.
The food from the soups, salads, entrees and the desert were excellent! I'm from New Orleans , so I know the taste of great food. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion!
From a well satisfied customer
It was crowded, loud, the waiter was confused and out of it, dirty plates sat at the table for awhile...THEN we bought an expensive bottle of wine and got a new waiter, table was cleaned and we were treated better. It was Saturday night and absolutely packed, couldn’t wait at bar. Been here before and had a much better experience
After eating at this Maestros location many times, this was the first time we received bad service. Too bad as it was my birthday. It seemed like the waiter was not paying attention. There were numerous issues beginning with he got my martini order incorrect. He did not bring a glass of ice for my son as requested. One steak did not come with oscar as requested. The last three members of our party which arrived 10 minutes after us were not offered a drink for 20 minutes. Bar service was generally slow. My wife was never offered a 2nd drink. We ordered mushrooms, sauteed onions and cream spinach. We received 2 orders of mushrooms, cream spinach and no onions. The waiter explained the onions were not on the menue but would make them available, then never brought them. On a night that was supposed to be special, we felt the overall experience was just fair, nothing more. I normally prize this restaurant based on the quality of food and excellent service. Not this time.
Our experience was over the moon outstanding! From the hostess who arranged a special table for 5 in the lounge so we could all face the entertainment to CiCi our main server to all the staff! Everyone one was terrific! Everyone agreed it was one our best Tuesdays ever!
Food is always good at Mastro’s. Never disappointed there. Wait staff was attentive despite being extremely busy. This particular evening, we waited 35 minutes for our table, even though we had a reservation. The hostess was not helpful, bordering on rudeness and clearly needs training and people skills.
Food and drinks are above average. Service also very good. Our only issue is the cost...$20+ cocktails, $60 steak, $38 lobster mashed potatoes, $34 gnocchi. Yes, all good stuff but very high priced. Not sure it's any better than Eddy V's, Capital Grill, or Morton's.
