Mastro's Steakhouse - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Price of the restaurant dictates I'll only go there for very special occasions. Tables are larger than your average restaurant table, which is great for seating 4 comfortably but makes people talk very loud to hear each other across the table, and increases the volume level overall in the restaurant. Not suitable for dieters or health-conscious people unless you request all the butter is left off. They even butter the hot plate your steak comes on so that it arrives sizzling. That's a great effect on the presentation! Loved that the plates were kept scalding hot, because i like when my meal stays warm longer. Also the decor was classy and added to the festive ambiance.
Simply outstanding service, bar none. Whatever you want, if they can do it, they will. Portion sizes are insane with respect to sides, so go half sizes if you're not going to share with someone. The only reason I marked the food down one is because my wife's filet tasted gamey. This seems to be consistent with our City Hall experience. I don't know where they are sourcing their meat, or if it's a grain/grass fed thing. I had the bone-in filet with a light rub and didn't taste it. The brussel sprouts are outstanding. So is their butter cake. We had our 11 year old girl with us for our anniversary and they catered to her as well. You pay the same price as at other chop houses, but the service is a noticeable cut above!
I have been to all the Mastros restaurants across the valley and have always been impressed. The service is ALWAYS impeccable. The quality of the food is spectacular. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone and have done so many times. Great experience. Fantastic dinner. Fantastic service. A must try location. The Mastro salad, seafood tower, bone in filet, lobster mashed, and warm butter cake are a can't miss. My only complaint is that when I was eating my left over bone in filet today for lunch, all of the left over mushrooms were not included in my to go box. I was slightly disappointed in that but not a huge deal. Not sure why those were not included in the take home. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
In our view, Mastro's is way to large to provide consistently good food and service. Our group all had steak, filets were good but the ribeyes were poor quality. Wine list was ok. The seafood on the menu was not creative and there were no specials. Our waiter was working hard but was to busy to give us the attention we needed. We came in from out of town and next time we will look for an alternative when visiting Scottsdale.
I have eaten at several Mastro's Restaurants many times over the past several years. The food never disappoints. With that said this particular visit at Mastro's Steakhouse Scottsdale was a little disappointing. Normally, steaks come out on sizzling platter....while our platters were hot to the touch, they were not sizzling and we had ordered blue cheese crumbles so we could melt them on the plate. The other notable item that should be improved on, is one guest was still finishing their meal and all food items were being cleared from the table not just the dish of a guest that was done with their meal. My favorite Mastro's experience is always their Las Vegas restauran
Dined at Mastro's for my Brother's 21st Birthday, with friends from out of State. We were thoroughly impressed with Frank, our server. He was outstanding and very personable. He made my Brother's Birthday experience extremely special. Frank was also very accomodating to our Pescatarian friends, and had fabulous dining suggestions. When I return to Mastro's, I will make sure to ask for Frank.
Mastro's is and will continue to be, our favorite restaurant for steak. However, on Friday night, the bone-in ribeyes were not up to the usual standard. 2 of us ordered that and 1 ordered NY strip and 1 ordered Porterhouse. The strip and porterhouse were excellent but the ribeyes were grainy and hard to chew. This is the first time I have encountered this issue and I thought you might want to know to have the head's up.
Food was okay, but it certainly didn't live up what we expected for the $$$$$.
Atmosphere was terrible. We had 7 people at a 6 top. Even for 6, this was a small space. We made reservations way in advance (for 7) and were seated literally 4 inches apart from two other tables. We actually felt like we dined with the people sitting next to us because we all ended up participating in the same conversations due to our close proximity. Picture a very long cafeteria or boarding school table.
It was so crowded and loud, we could barely hear each other. I'm 37 and typically don't mind fun music or a busy atmosphere, but again, for the $$$$$, we expected a much more pleasant experience.
Restaurant motto seemed to be UPSELL everything!
Mastros is a high end restaurant and my expectations are high. The food is expensive but well worth it. The service is prompt and courteous. What's not to like? There were four in our party and we all had steaks. My friend ordered a steak cooked medium but it came out well done, a waste of any good piece of beef. They immediately took it back and brought out another within minutes prepared correctly. The manager came over and checked so he was on top of it. It was my birthday so I got the complimentary chocolate cake with a candle, a nice touch.
My wife and I celebrated my birthday at Mastro's Steakhouse in Scottsdale. We have been to the restaurant many times, but this was an exceptional experience for us. Mastro's is considered a "high energy" restaurant with a noise level louder than most places at which we dine. We were able to procure a table in a slightly quieter area of the restaurant to enjoy our celebratory dinner. My wife was talked out of her usual Salmon dish by our knowledgeable, very smooth and extremely professional waiter (Frank)into a dish she had never tried: Arctic Char. Well, she LOVED it, and thought it was even better than Salmon. Frank recommended the bone-in Filet for me...I usually go for Petite Filet. It was PERFECT. We can highly recommend Mastro's.
Dinner at Mastro's was excellent and I will definitely go back. Cocktails (martini's) were done as requested but fairly pricey at $19 per. Salads were large and fresh, steaks were done to perfection. Our sides included sauted mushrooms, baked potatoes (large) all very good and sauted brussel sprouts were the side highlights. Dessert's included key lime pie and perfiderals both worth the calories. Not a cheap meal by no means more of a special occasion but everything ourstanding.
The restaurant was very crowded and noisy. The wait staff was running to keep up with the activity. Our meal was good and our server was good. This is unusual for this restaurant as on all other visits the food and the service were outstanding. The bone-in ribeye steaks were very good. Mine was served over cooked and the manager immediately exchanged it and offered us free desserts at the end of the meal.
Not our first time at this Mastro's.
When planning a celebration with steak...this is ALWAYS our first restaurant of choice!
Welcoming staff...professional and engaging service...great atmosphere...and the quality of the steak and other menu favorites NEVER disappoint!
We keep our experiences at Mastro's dedicated to entertaining guests from out of town, and celebrating special moments in our life.
Celebrated my wife's 55th birthday with a late dinner.
Bar was very active and lively with live music. A bit loud though.
Food was great from appitizers to desert, (a special slice of chocolate cake w/ homemade whipped cream. The script "Happy Birthday Johannah" in chocolate encircling the plate was a special touch.
Only one complaint, the sauteed broccoli was a little heavy on the garlic. A hint of rosemary would have helped to tone it down a notch.
Awesome service. Beautiful ambiance and the food was spectacular! The cocktails are a bit pricy, the classic martini was almost $20 and the chocolate martini was $18 but I think the whole experience was beautiful and well worth it! Besides, the make good cocktails and that is a rare find! The restaurant called the next day to make sure my experience was great..... Are you kidding me??? No one have attentive service like that anymore, do they????? Well at this place they did!!!!
High end steak house with a few other protein selections. I had the double pork chop and it was amazing. Sides are ordered for the table. Service is over the top. The house is dark but the music is too loud for it to be considered romantic. There is very little sound buffering. Hard to have conversation at large table. Servers carry flashlights so menus can be read. If you want a quieter experience, you can reserve one of two private rooms, which have food and bev minimums and require 17% tip and 4% room fee.
Food is good but expensive. Wine list starts a $45 and goes way up from there. We had a lower priced one and it was suitable for the occasion.
My party of four needed a table to conduct a business dinner that included confidential discussion. We made a request on the OpenTable reservation request and sure enough we had the best table for such an occasion waiting on us. Throw in the traditionally wonderful food, its preparation and very good service staff.....it was quite a successful evening. Thank you once again, Mastros.
