Frequent diners in Scottsdale restaurants.
Extremely disappointed in the quality of this venue. Escargot appetizer was lukewarm.
Water glasses were not refilled. One steak was over cooked & other steak was tough &
fatty. Onion rings were limp & not crisp.
It was an extremely disappointing dining
& birthday celebration with friends !

Service was great. Drinks were great. Steak prepared perfect. App was a bit under temp. I return to this location.

Didn't get to eat our dinner. Had cocktails, appetizer and salad. After over 45 minutes waiting for our entre' we were escorted out of the establishment. It was a dinner we had really looked forward to all week. Very disappointed in the kitchen service. Our waiter was very good, very attentive and concerned with the wait. I kind of lost my cool with one of the staff members and I apologize for that, but we should not have been treated in the manner we were treated when we decide to leave.

The moment we walked through the doors we knew we had planned our birthday ( 4 birthdays) dinners at the right restaurant. Beautiful surroundings inside and comfortable seating. The ladies received a beautiful rose in a lovely bud vase and all of us received birthday cards. A very nice touch. The waiter and staff were excellent and easy to talk to ...not pretentious as in some restaurants. Our appetizers, drinks, dinner were delicious and prepared as we requested. The “on the house” birthday cake desert was an impressive surprise. We will be returning soon.

We have been and will continue to visit maestros that being said it is beginning to feel a bit old. Steak is steak at the end of the day and they do it well but would like to see more options specials surf and turf. Just something also we always seem to get seated at a table that feels removed from the main dining room. Last when spending big bucks would be nice to be given a chocolate or cookie when not ordering desert. Feels like they are loosing touch a bit

The gnocchi was terrible..you would think when you return an item, that a manger would at least stop by and offer something! When you spend $430 before tip all the food should be outstanding! Veg disappointed!

Our table had Fish, Steak and Lamb. All were food but by far, the steak was the highlight. My suggestion is to get a Fush appetizer but enjoy one of their Prime Steaks as your entree and dont pass on the dessert. Celebrated my Mother In Laws Birthday. Great place for dates and special events.

All was good except two things

Bernaise sauce was finally brought to table after my wife finished her steak. Apologies from server but not a positive thing for a premier restaurant

Ice tea was ordered but never came. After I got home I saw we were charged for it anyway

Food was great but service followup was very disappointing

Mastros is one of the best steak places around. You go there because you want to be wined and dined. You pay for it, but you get special treatment. It is a wonderful place to dine.

Food was just OK and when you factor in the price, wait, hoopla, the food better deliver. It didn’t. Our waitress was excellent once she finally showed up. The music was WAY too loud. For two people who each had 1 cocktail, no appetizers, shared a steak and had two sides, it was $200 with tip. Completely unwarranted price for the product/service/experience.

Usually love Mastros. Was there with the entire family for my birthday. Service was not up to par and made the experience less special.
Also my steak was ok, but not the usual fabulous steak I’m used to at Mastros .

Everything was fine with ONE major exception. We were presented with our check. We noticed that my veterans discount wasn’t applied, so I tracked down Thomas, our server, who happened to be standing with the dining room MOD. They both stated they would take care of the discount. They did, we signed the cc slip and departed. 2 days later, we noticed that not only did they not run the corrected amount on our cc, they also charged our cc another $2,000 plus. Mind you our original bill without my veterans discount was around $440. So our cc charge should have been less than $400. Instead we get 2 charges totaling over $2400.

Our Chefs Cut Ribeye was tough & cooked well done vs medrare as we ordered. When we reported this to our waiter, who wasn’t competent, he argued to the point that I told him to leave. He reported it to a mgr who offered us free desserts & we explained that we didn’t want anything & our point was that the food quality had really declined since the new ownership. As professional Meeting & Conference Planners, we have booked literally hundreds of tables for dine around and even room buyouts & we’ll have to monitor things before using them for future groups.

Waited about 5 minutes before we were greeted by our waiter. He was formal and not very welcoming. We've been to other Maestros and this one seemed less interested in making you feel comfortable. We were seated in a line of tables that were too close together and we could easily hear the people's conversation next to us. Yet when we ordered our waiter kept asking us "what?" Food was very good as always except the lobster in the lobster mash potatoes was over cooked and chewy. Came in with high expectations based on my experiences at other locations and left feeling I spent too much for too little.

We live in LA and have been going to Mastro’s/Beverly Hills for years. Always fabulous in every way.

Maybe because this was a Thanksgiving reservation there were a couple of issues: my husband, my ten yr. old daughter and I were first seated in a table in area filled with families with small, loud children; the table was on a side by windows, away from the main area of the room - in near darkness, facing a wall - what?... That was not acceptable.. We requested another table - hostess put us two tables away from the first table - we’re now still in near darkness but now in the same area of the room that was way too warm as all of us started sweating right way (strike two and no wonder those two tables were open!). We’re not uber-picky, or obnoxious restaurant patrons but there was no way we could sit at this second table - unacceptable. Shortly after we were seated at this second table, we made an executive decision to request a table in the middle of the large, well-lit room, with other people around - a fun atmosphere. The third table was a charm.

Of note, we noticed as we were leaving after dinner that there was another big dining area of the restaurant that seemed to have very few families with little kids which we would have greatly preferred instead of foisting us into the “family” room with many loud kids under five yrs. old - that, was obnoxious and a big turn off.

Lastly and fyi - the garlic mashed potatoes were flavorless - another disappointment. Our waitress, who was lovely and gracious, apologized, removed it from our bill and told us some other patrons had also returned the garlic mashed potatoes as well as lobster mashed potatoes(!) Our steaks, however, were great.

The place was amazing and service was good. Lobster was delicious. Steak not very seasoned. Do NOT order the sushi rolls. They were terrible! Loved the bread and gnocchi was out of this world!!!! Spinach salad with real pieces of bacon was absolutely delish.

How does one spell disappointment from start to finish. Too dark to read the menu; too loud to have a conversation with our dinner companions; a prime porterhouse steak too tough to cut with their own steak knife.

All in all, a night we don't ever want to repeat.

To add insult to injury, after notifying the manger of our evening, he didn't have the common decency to even respond. Very poor managing, Mr. Kettler. We expected more, much more, from Mastros.
