Our first visit and we will be back! It’s exceptional food and service were so great and the live music just put it well into the best restaurant category in any city we’ve travelled.
Excellent, Always plan an evening at Mastro’s when in town.
Wonderful dinner with friends for husband's birthday. Bone in Ribeye was excellent. Perfect dinner!!! Brandon our server was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. We will be back soon!!
The best steak we had.
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The noise level prevented our group of 6 from being able to communicate.
Delicious and wonderful
The steak and sides were probably the best I ever had. The chopped salad was very disappointing ... not enough dressing and bland. A little noisy but our waitress was fantastic.
We felt the noise level with the band and the noise from large dining groups seated next to us destroyed the atmosphere. The presentation was just ok. The steak was very undercooked for medium and the fish tasted dried out and fishy with no flavor. The sides were heavy but not delicious.
This was our second time visiting this Mastros. Service was impeccable. Everyone was so observant. I will definitely return for our anniversary in August.
Great food as always and the staff is FANTASTIC!! Bill, our waiter, was a delight and so much fun! The manager on duty came to our table to make sure everything was okay, she was also very nice and professional. I believe her name is priscilla. The whole staff were fantastic! The live music was a great touch.
The food was magnificent as was the service, they were sweet to our pup and then they called us to thank us for coming! LOVE THIS PLACE!
My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Outstanding food and service.
When with two other couples Saturday night. Was sat next to a group of 25+men. Big party that should have had their own room. Lots of yelling. We could not hear a word that we were saying. This party should have been put in a private room! Our meal was spoiled! I also feel our waiter was overwhelmed by the noise and would disappear for 15min at a time. Had orders a drink that froze solid and sat there for 29 min before he came back. When we showed him the solid frozen drink, he was annoyed with us!!!! I’m sure that was a $25.00 drink and he was annoyed with us?? Bottom line if you take a reservation if 25 plus men common sense tells you if may be loud.... would like a total refund.
Had heard maestros in OC was good decided to try. Very crowded lots on noise in bar area because of band (good band tho). Do not order a dry martini, they don't know how to make. Food was hit or miss. Maguro lime sushi roll was great. Tomato and burrata was bad. Tomatoes were pink and hard and tasteless. Ordered Halibut. Very dry overall probably more of a drinking place than food.
Outstanding evening celebrating wifes birthday. A must if your in the area.
Food was ok. Very expensive. I sat for a long time with an empty wine glass. Really just nothing special for the price. We were in a side room with no ambiance. Very loud, couldn’t hear each other talk.waitress was very friendly.
Great service! The sides aren't "WOW" but tasty. The Chef's Cut Bone In Ribeye was magnificent, but I've had a better strip. The ahi appetizer was pretty good.
Stewart was the best bartender and server we’ve ever had!
It was really loud when we went in. Seemed really busy and took awhile to even get water and menus. The steak was amazing BUT the sides were a huge disappointment. We had au gratin potatoes which were undercooked and hard, and also a side of gorgonzola mac and cheese that was pretty flavorless. Neither of us tasted any gorgonzola. Our server, once we were waited on, was very nice! Was just a busy evening which is understandable but we expected much more for the price point and caliber of restaurant.
Sorry for leaving such a bad review, but I will probably never go back to this restaurant. Bone in ribeye was subpar and was definitely not prime quality. It had no taste and was very tough. Wine us ridiculously priced. I had a glass of their Pinot noir and it was one of the worst glasses of wine I have ever had. Noise level is terrible for a restaurant like this. I think they want to cater more to their bar customers. Sorry, but this place was very disappointing.
Great food. Too dark. Service awesome. A little spendy.
I brought my dad here for his birthday since he enjoys high end steakhouses. Our waiter was very nice and the food was great. The end not so much. I asked for our food to be put in boxes to go and then we were served dessert, paid and left. After we walked out we realized we never got our left overs back so I walked back in and told the hostess. She looked at me like I was an idiot and got her manager. He was beyond rude and treated me like I was a liar. He had the skeptical tone in his voice and said he would look over the cameras and call me. The next day he called me saying there was a misunderstanding and that they thought I wanted them to toss our leftovers. I don’t know why anyone would ask to have their $60 steak and lobster mashed potatoes thrown away. I said oh that’s weird that he misunderstood me when I said can we get this wrapped up to go? He went on to say that people make mistakes and that they were just left overs. I was shocked. I didn’t want him to fire or punish his staff, it is his job to fix mistakes like this. And he even made it worse by saying that if I wanted to come back that he would give me 50% lobster mashed potatoes if I remind him. I was SO insulted and shocked I just sat there. Needless to say I will just keep going to the Newport Beach location. This particular manager was supposed to fix a simple mistake and he couldn’t even say the word sorry. Poor social skills and lacks class. Maybe he should be managing a Sizzler?
Outstanding in every way!
Had a great family dinner; had requested a table in the bar area for the live music and were seated at a special table. Fabulous service without being rushed (Thanks Sara!), fantastic food and great cocktails and wine. Highly recommend.
Amazing as always!
Every meal at Mastro’s is a special occasion. The shrimp cocktail is to die for and should not be missed. The 18 once bone in filet is delicious and big enough for two to share. Don’t forget to get some of their Bernaise sauce, it is superb. All of the sides are generous portions. You can get half orders of the garlic mashed potatoes and the green beans and you’ll have plenty for two. Even the half order of the French fries is huge and I doubt that two hungry eaters could finish it. For desert, the profiteroles are a special treat. They come three to an order but you can order just one or two. The butter cake is simply incredible and another desert you want to make sure gets ordered by someone at the table.
Great food, extremely loud.
Our steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked. The sides were delectable and dessert was heavenly!
They put us in the bar and it was so loud you couldn’t hear the person next to you... The tables at the bar were so close together, you couldn’t get in or out of your seat without moving the tables. The servers couldn’t reach you either... not great... the food for the most part was tasty, but the fish options were not fresh which we could tell from the smell from the next tables fish order. The steak, as always was amazing, but We had the lobster Mac and it was just fair.... overall, not my favorite Mastro’s
Great food and the best service staff around. The dining experience is worth every penny.
We LOVE Mastro’s and all the wonderful people who work as this fantastic restaurant. We are never, ever disappointed!!!! So consistently great every time!!!!
Based on suggestions from TripAdvisor members, we requested a table in the dining room away from the bar because the dining room is quieter. The area in which we were seated had four tables: two for a party of four, one for a party of ten, and another for a party of 14. It appeared as if a partition had been closed making this area quite small and cramped.
When all tables were full, the noise level was extremely loud. It was nothing less than a shouting match to be able to make people seated across from us hear what we were saying. The fact we were in such a small enclosed area with sound bouncing off all four walls did not help. I have been in sports bars during a major event that were not as loud.
The tables were so close to each other that the servers had to keep asking people to move in their chairs so they could get into the room with the food and drinks.
The service was outstanding, absolutely First Class. Unfortunately, the constant high level of noise destroyed any ambience. This is not a place to go and enjoy dinner over quiet conversation.
Always delicious and consistent...... entertainment is great also !!
We had a great time! It was loud because we sat in the bar. The pound cake!!!! Fabulous!!!!
Monica was a wonderful server. Everything she recommended was incredible. It was a lovely meal.
Bar area service was excellent
