Mastro's Steakhouse - Palm Desert Ratings and Reviews
The place was grossly over-packed and over-priced. It was an uncomfortable experience and the food, which was pretty much just average, was unfairly expensive. The bar-tender, Raul, however, was excellent. The whole bar staff was good as there were way too many people inside.
I was thrilled with the service and happy energy of Mastro's. Our server was excellent and most appreciated was that Mastro's reserved a large table in a more quiet part of the restaurant so we could hear each other. Food was great and the live music was really good but we could still talk. I'm very pleased and was proud to have had arranged such a nice business dinner for my group.
I had a marvelous cut of beef cooked and seasoned with truffle butter to perfection. The lively scene was fun and festive in the large bar. They allowed us to bring a very nice bottle of wine to pair with our steaks. I will frequent this venue more frequently. Sadly, I walked out forgetting my doggie bag containing half of my uneaten New York Strip. Sadness. .....
I want to like this restaurant, I really do, but for the price, they do not deliver on quality or service. Steaks were dry, spinach had too much garlic and the chocolate cake was drenched with....raspberry sauce, maybe? Our waitress was pleasant, knowledgeable and observant - when she could make it to our table. She comped a cocktail (Manhattan made like a sugar-bomb), one of our steaks (overcooked) and a dessert (out of pity) so we were grateful for her generosity but for this level of restaurant, we should not have needed it. Dirty plates were left on our table well beyond the time they should have been cleared and it was tough to get staff's attention for things like water and wine refills. The bar scene looked crazy but fun so we'll probably give that a try next -- as I said, I really want to like this place.
We went to Mastro’s for Thanksgiving for something different! The steak was amazing, but the Lamb and fish were just ok. For the price of each entree you would expect them all to be supreb. The Halbut was WAY over cooked and the lamb had no special flavor. It was just really ok. Definitely over priced. A party of 5 (without alcohol) was 550.00 dollars.
The service was wonderful. Super nice guy!!!
Happy, Smiling and Inviting people staff and guests! A lovely duet singing new and old tunes in the lounge area, very comfortable, relaxing ambiance throughout. The Shrimp Cocktail is a fantastic appetizer with surprising presentation! The Scallops were sinfully delicious as well!
Celebrated my birthday with friends. Great food and even greater service, as always. We like to sit at a high table in the large bar area for a more festive and lively atmosphere. Thanks for the signature warm butter cake a la mode...with the band leading a happy birthday chorus.
Our server Bill was absolutely amazing! The rest of the service team was also excellent. The food was on point and delicious. I truly wish they didn't allow flash photography though, it happened several times and this isn't TGI Friday's. Other than that, Mastro's always delivers. Thank you.
We love Mastro's. We go frequently and take friends. The wait staff is stable but moves through different rooms. When we request a waiter he/she is on another assignment in the restaurant and cannot serve. Understandable, but all are great. As is the food. The side dishes are the best in the business.
The food was great, but even more overpriced than other restaurants in the category such as Fleming’s or Ruth Chris. We were there to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary, but to our surprise their was a private party right next to where we seated making a lot of noise that involved screaming a loud microphone and music and constant clapping. It was absurd how loud the environment was. I couldn’t understand why they thought they could seat tables next to this area. 2 large tables got up and left and one table asked for their meal comped. Not only was this event being loud, we were all seated in an area next to the bar that was turning into a night club in front of our eyes. I was extremely disappointed that a restaurant of this caliber and price would create such a hellish experience by trying to create multiples party’s while serving high class food. It was very unprofessional and poor decision making. I couldn’t even talk to my wife because it was so loud.
I will not be returning to this Mastro’s or any other ever again.
What a disappointment
We have been to Mastro’s on several occasions
This visit was so bad our table of ten and several other tables around us left without finishing our meal due to management issues
They cater to the night club crowd drunkiness and not to the fine dining experience that there prices should offer
Such a disappointment
They have lost us as usual patrons for sure
Our server a young lady was exceptional!! Service from others was really good too. Her name was Caitlyn. It was my wife's birthday and she was very happy with the attention your people gave her. I've been a salesman with US Foods formally S.E Rykoff for 39 years, so I know what it takes to be successful. My experience at your Restaurant was wonderful. We will be back. Thank you.
As always a great meal ! But our waitress however was unacceptable and aggressive! She saw my friend was crying and still interrupted us to tell us the specials for the evening! I had to put my hand up for her to get a clue! Ms Guatemala Anne should be trained to listen.
Excellent steak house. "Value" is not something one considers when paying these sky high prices. Wines are very expensive, steaks are very expensive, but if you want a good steak then you have to pay for it. VERY NOISY !!!!!!!!! Even if you ask for a quiet room there is nothing quiet about this place. Get the Butter cake for dessert.
The restaurant has always been a favorite special occasion place for us. Sadly —for the first time — we ran into the Godzilla of waitresses. Extremely abrupt on imposing herself on our table and repeatedly forcibly interrupting our conversation. On serving our drinks our friend dining with us very nicely pointed out to the server that she was interrupting us. Without hesitation the server said she could get someone else to serve us, slammed down our friend’s drink and stormed off. More bemused than mad, we asked another server to see a manager. When that person came, she immediately said that the server had already talked to her and the conflict was that we were not interested in hearing about the specials. We told her that there had been no conversation with the server before she blew up and the manager kept defending the server. The manager did offer to comp an appetizer which we declined. We have owned a restaurant as well as our friend. We know about server’s “bad days” and how sometimes things just happen. However, the combination of a server and then a manager refusing to even pretend to own a problem with a customer is not acceptable, especially at a high priced fine dining restaurant. We won’t be back.
