This was our first time visiting Mastro’s .. we will definitely be back ! The drinks , service, and food was phenomenal 👍😬
We had to eat outside due to Covid. Our view were cars in the parking lot. For spending over $200 they could of made the eating area nicer.
Waited a long time for drinks. Food was great. Beautiful outdoor venue for Covid. Overall very good.
Always a great experience eating here. The service was excellent as well as the food. Right now it is only out door dining but the experience wasn’t dimmed. Great restaurant.
Had a great birthday experience ! The service was amazing and the staff had excellent customer service ! Food was incredible! Can’t wait to be back !
Outdoor covid dining thought this restaurant would be sure customers has enuf heaters going to stay warm while dining. I asked for more heaters but was told couldn't as too many plants around so I was cold the entire time. I ordered bread service and cocktails to start and that took 20 minutes to get at least. They weren't that busy either. For the prices I would not come back with the experience we had.
Over all good service, not excellent. Steak was a little tough, but good with flavor. Wished waitress would have given a little more attention to us.
It was a strange experience. We had a reservation for 830pm for post-dinner cocktails, and upon arriving (the hostess was friendly & great) we were taken to our table at the very back of the patio literally beside the parking lot. When we ordered our $24usd martinis, and when we said we were only drinking, we were scolded by our server as we are “supposed to order food with our drinks”. We were never told this prior to sitting down, yet we felt like we were doing something wrong by being there and spending our money - it was all just strange and very awkward. We’ve been to many other Mastros locations, and even this one in Palm Springs many times and always had a great experience, but this was a serious disappointment and we likely won’t be back.
It was a nice setting but food was so so, which was disappointing. Ordered the crab legs and lobster for appetizer and they had zero taste and cost a fortune. My steak was way over cooked. But our waiter was wonderful
From the time we walked in until our dessert disappeared (into our bellies), the experience was amazing! Sat outside in their beautiful make-shift patio complete with a flower wall and lights! Everyone was Covid aware and the staff was beyond careful! We had a little of everything;drinks, wine, appetizers, dinner with sides and a complimentary birthday butter cake. Everything was cooked to our liking and delicious! Definitely would return and recommend!
For the amount of money that Mastro‘s charges for its food, we were extremely disappointed in the ambience of the area they used for dining. Although it was some sort of walkway or alleyway, it was very plain and much of the view was of parked cars in a parking lot. There is so much more that could’ve been done to create a better dining atmosphere ... for example: hanging string lights and blocking more of the view of the parking lot. Toward the end of our meal, tables beside us as well as tables behind us were being arranged and rearranged which made the area noisy. A large group was seated next to us with only a 2 to 3 foot distance between us. When they entered and sat down, they were not wearing masks and one of the guests was only about three or 3 1/2 feet away from us as he laughed and greeted one of the other guests. The waiter was not terribly friendly, although he was not rude. We enjoy fine dining so comparatively the food was good but not great.
We celebrated a birthday with another couple and each of us were impressed with superb service and outstanding food an drinks.
We were celebrating our 20th anniversary!
Could not have chooses a better place for food and service!
They went beyond we expected
They delivered to the table a present I had for my wife in such a beautiful setting!!
The best choice for our gathering.
Waitress was excellent however my wife’s steak originally delivered was probably someone else’s order. It was definitely medium , not medium rare on the rare side as ordered, and it didn’t come with the sauce requested. Had to wait for a reorder. As a result we really didn’t get to eat our dinners together. Cliff Wiese
We have visited Mastro's several times. Our recent experience was not as fabulous as prior visits, but we attribute that to the necessary modifications to dining due to COVID.
We will definitely be back. Food is delicious!!
I was dissatisfied with it. The steak was chewy and underseasoned, the silverware was dirty, and it was just disappointing all around. The staff was nice, but everything else really let us down. For the price that they charged we expected to get a higher caliber of food, but the food was pretty comparable to your everyday Texas Roadhouse.
Because of Covid the tables were set outside. They were very few heaters. The worst part however was that Mastro’s had the nerve to charge $2.50 for bread. LOL never go back there.
They overbook so be prepare to wait even if you have a reservation.
Steaks are cooked to perfection as always. Service was superb under these unusual times.
One of those way too expensive $300 dinner for two. But at least the food quality is awesome as always
Food and service were equally wonderful. Can’t wait to come back for another special night.
Overall a good meal. I was disappointed in my bone in rib eye though. At $65 would have expected a better quality. Very fatty and not tender at all. Everyone else had a better experience. Shrimp cocktail was good, sides all good. Butter cake was spot on. Maybe I’ll skip the bone in rib eye next trip
My group and I truly enjoyed ourselves...And I can definitely see myself returning
The filet with the truffle butter was delicious and perfectly cooked. Bread basket had a nice variety of tasty breads. Enjoyed the cream spinach and corn. Butter cake looked beautiful but we have had better.
It was a nice evening out
We love Mastros and have missed being able to go so when I saw that were offering outdoor dining I jumped at the chance to go. The outdoor seating is great! Everyone is doing the best with the current circumstances. Sadly it wasn’t a good experience. My martini wasn’t right and there was no offer to remake it. The bread was cold. I was looking forward to the seared ahi however it wasn’t available on the limited menu they are currently offering. I went with the filet - it was so hot when it arrived at the table I don’t think it ever stopped cooking. It became dry and inedible, a big disappointment. We ordered a butter cake for dessert - it was burnt and dry. It also didn’t come with the big platter of whip cream. Definitely not a Mastros experience.
Amazing dinner for my fiancé and I to celebrate moving to California! Great wine selection! Food was delicious and very fast! Service was impeccable! Will return soon!
This was a rare outing for us since early 2020, but it was Mister’s birthday, and we wanted to celebrate with something special. I was concerned about restaurant dining, but it turns out, all of the seating was outdoors on the sidewalk and in the breezeway. Generously distanced tables and the entire staff wearing masks. We felt very comfortable with the situation.
I started with a Manhattan cocktail, and it was a premium, double shaker pour - delicious! Our oysters on the half shell dressed with horseradish and lemon were enjoyable. Caesar Salad with extra anchovies by request was crispy and fresh. And since we were both in the mood for a beautiful ribeye, we opted for the 44 oz. Wagyu Bone-in Rib Eye. They kindly split it for us, so we didn’t get the full eye-popping effect, but it didn’t matter, because it was eye-poppingly perfectly prepared, so flavorful and tender. The Gorgonzola Mac-n-Cheese and Pan-roasted Broccoli were inconsequential, since we were so taken away by the steak. And it was more than enough for the two of us retired folk!
We finished with the Birthday Butter Cake - a perfect end to a beautiful evening!
New to the Palm Desert area, we will be definitely coming back soon!
It was girl nights out! Visited from Los Angeles and our server Bill was the best!!
Did not have the two things we went there for.. the crab and truffle gnocchi and the lobster bisque soup. My filet was just ok not a lot of flavor or seasoning and my husband’s had Chilean sea bass and was just ok.
Great service, delicious food, and adequate spacing from group to group.
Birthday dinner.
We had a lovely experience! Obviously things are somewhat awkward now with the covid restrictions and in fact they were having to close the entire inside again this coming weekend. So no bar scene per se but they had a lovely woman singing and that area was much prettier than the back room they originally had us in; and they graciously moved us there when we asked. Food was pricey but amazing and service was excellent.
I expected the dining room to be beautiful but walking in should maybe have chosen the bar area instead because the dining room was so dark dull and drab with the blinds shut. Reminded me of a hotel conference room! anyway- hate they charge $2.50 for bread and no butter knife on the table! Bread was good but geez- $$ for bread? Anyway, drinks good, my daughter enjoyed her steak but was laughing at the plating- one small petite filet arrived on a huge white plate. Alone. and sad. no frills- looked weird. The baked potato was a bit dry. One pound was enough to share. My scallops had so much sand in them that I gagged after the first one down, my daughter tried half of the second- crunch crunch.... we finally told the waitress to send it back to the chef to let him know they were inedible. I have had plenty of scallops and once in a while a grain or two of sand but these guys were sopped in sand. They did take them off the bill which we appreciated. The Cesar salads were good and appreciated the waitress told us we could do half orders. The warm butter cake was enough to share with 4 people, it was absolutely incredible! Overall, was okay - great table service was much appreciated. Maybe we just got in on a bad night, wouldn't say it was great but oh well!!
Quality food you would expect from a high end Steakhouse.
Overpriced & Ordinary. We started going out to restaurants again, and wanted to eat a good steak.
Disappointed is not strong enough. MASTROS is just an average restaurant that is priced like an Amazing restaurant.
The food is blend. The steak that I had was overcooked and didn't have that nice crust that it should have.
Pricing. They are delusional. They are at least 40% overpriced for what they serve. They have the balls to charge $15 for a scoop of Bone Marrow or Truffle butter. WE TRIED BOTH. RIPP OFF.
Oysters had either horseradish or cocktail sauce. No imagination. They couldn't come up with any different sauces for the Oysters?
I could go on. This place should look in the mirror. They are overpriced stale, and will lose out to competition.
Good riddance
Steak was poor quality and raw. I have ate at Mastros a few times before and this was far below the past experiences I have had there. Prices were extremely high and the quality of the meat was more comparable to outback than a premium steak house. Service was good and the sides and dessert were good but I am going there for the steak not the side dishes. A few other people warned me it was not the same as before I should have listened.
Service and food was incredible. We were there for my husbands birthday, he said it was one of the best dinners he has had. Everything was wonderful
Although the food was good my reservation was outside. I would not recommend an outside table. No ambiance and as soon as food arrived flies arrived. Not an ideal situation for an anniversary dinner. I’m sure indoors would be much better
