Mastro's Steakhouse - Palm Desert
Sunday - Thursday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm; Friday & Saturday: 4:00pm - 11:00pm
Finest steakhouse experience in the entire Coachella Valley. Outstanding quality cuisine, warm, attentive, professional service. Live music most, if not every, night.
We love Mastro’s and have been several times but the steaks this time were grisly and had too much fat. We brought our family and talked it up so much but we were disappointed.
Great steaks and generous cocktails. Excellent service by experienced table servers.
We were underwhelmed with the ambiance of this Mastro’s, but the food was great and the service even better! I wish it was fairer in terms of value for what you pay
We had a very special evening for our anniversary, even though our table could have been better. Our server was fun and professional and the food was outstanding.
It was our first time dinning at Mastro’s. The food was very good and the service was great our waitress was very friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends and will go back.
Great food and service
If it wasn’t so expensive I would be at Mastro’s every week. The food is your biggest accent.
Always consistently great! People watching, entertainment and the best food is just normally excellent.
The food (especially the steaks) and service "Matt" were outstanding. The live music from the bar was not good. In addition it was far to loud and carried over into the dining area making it very difficult to have a conversation. It very much detracted from the ambiance of the meal. Without that, it would have been a solid five stars across the board.
Too loud to enjoy a nice upscale dinner
Fantastic place! Great food! Our waitress was fantastic! The best experience for fine dining. My best friend and I were celebrating 40 years of friendship! We are going to make it a tradition here!
We usually love Mastro's and go often to the ones in Beverly Hills, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. The experience at this location was extremely disappointing. It was for my husband's birthday - they sat us in a table against the wall surrounded by large party tables in what we soon realized was the pathway to and from the kitchen. Because of a long table of 14 next to us the pathway was narrow and we had the joy of repeatedly getting bumped by the service staff as they came through with trays. The best was a busboy hitting me in the back of the head with his elbow. Our waitress was overextended, took 15 minutes to even be provided with a menu (prompted by us finally asking a busboy if we could receive menus) and we had very long periods of time waiting for her to take our drink order and then dinner order. We had to ask for her to let us know if there were specials, every other Mastro's waitstaff happily go over the menu unprompted. My steak arrived at the wrong temperature TWICE so finally the manager came to check on us and I asked for them to just take it away and to please remove it from the check. The scalloped potatoes appeared as if they have been premade, only filled 3/4's of the serving dish (when normally the dish is full) and the potatoes were barely warm, with congealed cheese instead of bubbling and melted. This was disappointing for my husband as they are his favorite side dish. The happy birthday dessert did not include my husband's name (despite me putting it on the reservation and the hostess asking the spelling of his name when we arrived which we figured was for the dessert dish) - every time we go for our birthday's all of the other locations provide's the name in chocolate which is a nice personal touch - not in Palm Desert apparently. We definitely will not be returning to this location and are grateful we live in LA closer to the much better Beverly Hills and Orange County locations.
Amazing per usual! Thank you for your service, best anniversary meal
There are some shortcomings, but the food and service were exceptional. We got a "bad" room as it was seated way over a comfortable dining experience capacity. We were a table of 5 seated at an oversized table for 8-10...(should have been swapped out for a smaller table and would have made more sense for everyone, guests and staff included) impossible to hear with such a large table in such a loud room... not to mention one of our party was hit and bumped several times in the back by wait staff trying to navigate thru the crowded aisle. Problem solved as we sat scootched together using only one half of the table. The room was definitely a designated birthday room, more crowded ambiance than fine dining, just tightly packed, but friendly table neighbors...
Wine had a BIG mark up, although it was a nice recommendation for pairing - I hate that I can buy it at BevMo for less than half the price. Dinner is expensive, party of 5 for $1K+. But we had fun, food was served properly and our service was exceptional. They deserved generous gratuity. Birthday was a success. Dessert was fabulous and they paid attention to our request and small details.
Mastros is mastros so in all it is good food with good service. Lobster mashed potatoes were not good which was surprising as it is a staple at mastros. Had to send them back as well as the house salads. The Mastros in Newport Coast is by far better quality and service than the Mastros in Rancho Mirage. Just saying.
Definitely off their game this time. Reserved for a quiet intimate birthday, but we were originally seated in a side room with jumpy children and loud adults. Yes, they relocated us to a main room, but what a hassle.
The boom-boom-boom of the reverberating music was surprising, certainly different from the piano in Beverly Hills.
Upon ordering I specifically asked for Medium-Well and even though our server acknowledged the order, my filet arrived Medium-Rare. Upon complaint it returned charred and sizzling on the outside, yet still rarer than this establishment should’ve allowed in the first place. (Maybe we were in Ruth’s Chris...)
Further, twice they gave me someone else’s bill substantially delaying our departure beyond amusement.
At least our bottle of wine was perfect.
Bad experience all around. Served salad BEFORE appetizer, one of 3 filets ordered didn’t even look like a filet- it was very small and flat, and the replaced filet had no seasoning and was bland.
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent experience
Compare to all of the other resturants this was brry unorganized, knowledge of the menue or try to make us comfortable with what is what ???
Was very disappointing .
Superb service and food
Really enjoyed our alternative thanksgiving dinner.
The food was excellent, the restaurant very full, for this type of restaurant the service was not the best , the waiter was a little slow on checking how we were but overall great dining experience
I made reservations several weeks earlier and requested the bar for the music. It was my husband’s birthday. Hostess first tried to see us by the kitchen door. After refusing that table she directed us to another table that we could not even get into. Another manager seemed to see my frustration and pointed to another table easily accessible, thank goodness. Our waitress was great. Food is wonderful. Extremely expensive for what you get but it is a high end steak restaurant and my husband likes it.
The service by Andrew and his team provided excellent service. The food high quality as always. Thanks
Love it at Mastro’s
i love this place , been coming for the last couple of years and my kids love it too
always amazing service and amazing food.
hopefully it stays that way.
We went there to celebrate a 60 th birthday. We were all from out of town. The restaurant came highly recommended. We were seated very quickly however waited at least 15 mins for someone to finally arrive w water. When our meal came we all ordered steaks I’m from Texas and have never seen a steak come on a plate and 10 mins later comes the sides to go with them.
The restaurant was over booked and so loud we couldn’t even talk with each other as the table behind us were overly obvious and extremely loud and rude !
The cake they brought my girlfriend had her named spelled even wrong. A disaster of an evening and not worth the $220 per couple
Very disappointed to say the least.
Awesome as usual
Outstanding meal and great service!! Definitely recommend!
Welcoming, friendly, professional staffing from front entrance to all servers. Food was excellent although very expensive. Worth it for special occasions.
Very disappointed in Mastros in Palm Desert. I have been to Mastros many times in Southern California and always had phenomenal meals, drinks, and overall experiences. I ordered the bone in Ribeye as per usual and ordered it medium. It came charred on the outside and not cooked on the inside to "medium". I think they knew i was going to be disappointed because the manager was pretty much right behind the waiter after he served it to me. I told him i couldn't believe you would let this out of the kitchen and they took it right away to make a completely new steak. The next one came back fine but i had already lost my appetite and the rest of my party was already done with their meal. They did NOT offer anything for the inconvenience or take anything off of the bill. I took a couple bites, passed on Dessert and we left very disappointed in both the food and the service/response from the waiter and management.
Very good, my favorite Steakhouse ever
Excellent food quality with great service.
Will definitley go back.
Wierd crowd. Old guys young women. Great steak. Pricy
Always great food in an upscale environment. We love it!
Worse waiter ever. Ran out of drinks, ran out of food, he was clueless. I tipped him $1000 to quit and find a real career.
Great food, the staff was very attentive, love this place for special dinners.
So looking forward to this special evening out, but greatly disappointed! Salads came out wilted and soggy, special vegan salad ordered and came out with blue cheese, set aside and regiven a second time. One salad that was ordered never came out at all and after several reminders we gave up and just had it taken off bill. Salad also given to wrong guest at wrong time as it was an
entree. While guest waited to eat her salad while others were waiting for entrees waiters came back and took her salad and gave it to someone else at our table. Luckily she had not eaten it. 2 steaks ordered and both came out completely undercooked. One was actually cold. They recooked same steaks and brought back out later. One Glass of wine ordered, waiter brought out a bottle with 2 glasses. Veggie rolls ordered, but they were made of rice with a tiny speck of something in middle. It was basically a roll of rice only. It went from bad to worse. Highlight..... being with family and friends! For a 6 oz. filet at 45.00 we were expecting great service. Servers had no idea what was going on and who ordered what. Interesting enough bill came out correct. No comps offered after mistake after mistake!
