The food at Mastro’s was amazing as always especially the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly. The lobster mac and cheese was rich and flavorful, and we ended the night with the famous warm butter cake, which never disappoints. Unfortunately, the environment really took away from the experience. We were seated right next to the piano, which was extremely loud, and the air conditioning wasn’t working. We were also under hot stage lights, which made things even more uncomfortable given how hot the weather has been. Still, the food was excellent—it’s just a shame the atmosphere didn’t match the standard of the meal.

We are a party of two female, we ordered 3 appetisers, one main course, and two side dishes. The waiter said since I only ordered one main, he suggests to order my two side dishes to main sizes! Ok, we were already 70% full after the appetizers. And then came a 6oz steak, a full size lobster mac&cheese and creamed corn. We ended up having half of these dishes untouched. I mean, he should know that this portions are too much for two ladies and yet he made them a big portion. So the more expensive the bill, the more tips he gets?? Not very friendly service either. Food was mediocre.

Sat downstairs it was more quiet, was looked after by Tim, he recommended great dishes and went above and beyond in helping through out the evening, thank you

My Dad and I came here for our last evening for a special evening out. The food was pretty tasty, but the service and ambience let it down. We were seated right next to the kitchen door, which wasn’t ideal. The music playing loudly in the background was like a top 20 pop track- it just didn’t create a good environment for a steak dinner. Upon leaving there was a live singer who turned up so maybe if you arrive later, it’s better. We chose to have the bread service, it arrived, and then within a few minutes the steak was ready and they rushed to clear the tables away and take away the bread half finished. The bread itself wasn’t anything special - we’ve eaten at restaurants with nice soft sourdough etc, this wasn’t that. Butter was rock hard and you couldn’t spread it. We are not slow eaters by any means so their timings were off. The staff were generally quite abrupt. Didn’t feel like they were enjoying being there or took any pride in creating an enjoyable atmosphere for the guests. Food was not cheap and for this cost I’d have expected way better service, hospitality and general welcomeness. Despite the steak tasting nice, I wouldn’t return again and left disappointed on what should have been a special evening for my family.

Once upon a time this place felt like luxury like you were going somewhere upscale and fancy but this last experience was not that. We were sat across from a table that smelled strongly of weed that was occupied by about 6 young adults all clearly not dressed for the “dress code” of the venue. They were loud and obnoxious the whole time and even the waiter engaged with their nonsense at one point. The food was still great. The steak was amazing but the vibe was not what it once was.

This was my first time dining there. It will not be the last! The food and service was excellent. The staff was very attentive. The Rack of Lamb was simply perfect!! I can’t wait to go again.

Had a wonderful experience. Food was excellent. Our server Angelica was very nice and attentive. And the live music was amazing! Only complaint at all was the noise level, but it wouldn't keep me from going back.

This somewhat hidden gem (in the 52nd St. side of the UBS building on 6th Ave in New York), was a MOST pleasant surprise. The service was excellent; the food? Well, the presentation of the shrimp cocktail was eye-catching, and the shrimp were excellent, with a "make your own" cocktail sauce to boot. But the meat: both my wife and I thought we hade THE best filet mignon we'd ever tasted at Mastro's...and we've been dining at restaurants all over the US and Western Europe for 54 years. The sauce béarnaise which accompanied the steaks was also superb. One thing to "watch": the menu comes with a one-page wine list which is, in my opinion, rather pedestrian in its selections. HOWEVER: ask for their REAL wine list, and you'll get a list which is MOST complete, filled with a host of great wines. Don't pass this restaurant by!
