Amazing steaks, fantastic New york style restaurant, big area, very good live band. So enjoyable!
Impeccable service, top quality food
I have eaten at Mastros on a few occasions and I have always been over the top on the food and the service. This time the food was great but service was not as good as usual.
This was my first visit to the NYC location and it did not disappoint. My only issue was how dark the restaurant was!
Wonderful experience, food, music and service ! Love the vibe it entices you to eat and drink more because you are having a really good time!
This was my third time at Mastro's the food and service is always excellent. I highly recommend it you will love it. The steaks and sides are awesome. We had the scallops as an appetizer and the signature butter cake is to die for!
Food was delicious and service and hospitality was spot on. Everyone was extremely detailed oriented and a unique dining experience. I’ve been to steakhouses before, but never have I been addressed by name when greeted by staff. The phone call the following day was a nice touch as well.
Always a special evening. Live music and excellent food. Definitely not bargain priced but you get what you pay for.
I have never written a review before, but I need to provide some feedback on Mastro's. My wife and I have been to Mastro's previously and we decided to go back for my wife's birthday. What a FABULOUS experience! We were a party of six (my wife and I, my 3 grown sons and one of their girlfriends) and everything went well from start to finish. First of all, we arrived more that half an hour early for our 7:15 reservation due to better than expected connections into the city. Did we need to wait? No. Not a problem, we were told and we were seated within 5 minutes. Customer service at the front desk was top notch.
Once seated we met Joe, our waiter for the evening. Joe was great! He was knowledgeable, patient and genuinely strived to ensure we had a good time. He assisted us with the wine list, choices of steaks (we all ate either filet mignon (bone-in of course), rib eyes or porterhouse steaks) and sides. The steaks were terrific and cooked to perfection. The sides were excellent, oh, and I forgot to mention the starters. The oysters were the best I've had since the last time I visited Mastro's.
Overall a 5 star experience!
Always tastes like the first time. Being a regular and never getting of the place, employees, or food is phenomenal!! Ask for Julian or Christian to attend to your dining. They’re great !!!
1) I ordered a NY pepper steak well done. It came out quickly which is good, but when I cut into the steak it was very red. I sent it back and asked them to butterfly it if necessary to cook it all the way through. The steak came back a second time and was still very red all the way through. Disappointing.
2) We were seated downstairs which is quiet, but the music is upstairs. I like music and was disappointed we weren’t told there’d be no music where we were seated.
I’ve been to 2 other Mastro’s and this was the least enjoyable.
Excellent dining experience. All of the food, from the bread to dessert, was outstanding. The service was good and the waiters were attentive. The drinks were average and could have been better. I was very happy with my dining experience and I will definitely be returning. My only negative comment is that dinner service was rushed. I was receiving appetizers at the table when I was still eating my soup.
Good as usual. I always go to the one in chicago and this is the first time to visit them in nyc. The steak was cooked to perfection. But the butter cake is the real reason i keep coming back to Mastro.
Celebrated our son’s 16th birthday, we had a great dinner. Wait staff, maitre d’ and piano player/singers were all exceptional!
We received a delicious and gorgeous butter cake with ice cream complimentary. The plating was beautiful!
Hands down our favorite steak restaurant in NYC!
Simply amazing. Every aspect.
I went there for my anniversary. The athmosphere was at first impression at the door, great. I was full of anticipation. I felt like I was really in for a fine dining experience. My husband and I were dressed in very smart casual attire. To my surprise there were people dressed in cut off very short jeans shorts, jeans with the knees totally cut out, children in play clothes, jerseys etc. I later read my voicemails and found a message informing me that it was an evening for casual wear which I found surprising for a Saturday night. Our waiter was Vernon and he was very attentive. He even gave us a small flashlight so he that we could read the menu because it was a bit too dark at our table. The other staff were on point too! The food portion was so much food that I could have feed my husband and I and our 2 teen children. Next time we are will order a meal and share it. The vegetables sides will easily feed 3 adults. A couple sitting next to us ordered dessert; it looked like cheesecake. It was a third the size of a regular pie pan that the average person uses at home. They asked us if we wanted to share and we had a good laugh. The man only got through a third of his dessert. My husband and I decided not to even have dessert after seeing the portions. Interestingly, we were asked if we wanted to take the rest of our food with us. I didn’t expect that. We didn’t because we went to see a show after.
One suggestion, maybe there could be a dedicated area for smart casual diners. One older couple came and left stating that the hey would return when there was no band. The noise level was ok with us.
I would definitely eat at Maestros again. If you are looking to celebrate a very special occasion and dress smart casual call to see what the dress code is for your articulate date.
It was my birthday dinner and me and my friends enjoyed ourselves from food to drinks was a great night
Overpriced, food was cold, undercooked and music was way too loud.
They were very accommodating when our plans got off schedule. The food was amazing and staff exceptional!!
Awesome steaks as always, service was spotty in terms of wait and attendance - CRUMBS WERE NOT CAUGHT - and half the table next to us refused to sit down, while one spat dip into a coke bottle for our entire meal. Gross.
We ordered still water but a second bottle was opened right as the check was dropped for an additional $8.
We forgot to order fois butter with our steaks and was an easy miss for an upsell.
Overall the steaks were fabulous, worth every penny. The Hamachi is incredible but a pretty penny at $24.
Next time we'll share the strip ($61) and splurge on the king crab black truffle gnocchi ($34), and maybe pass on the hamachi to try something new.
Dinner for Two, Total before tip: $260
Good steaks and ambience recommended very good go for it anywhere
Great food ,Ambiance, Atmosphere wait staff are pleasant & knowledgeable Steaksc are outstanding Overall great experience
music was a bit loud and not a good choice. it was more music for a club than for a restaurant and a bit too loud.
Phenomenal service provided by Aaron!
What an asset to your restaurant. Made my nephews birthday memorable. Coming back and requesting him. Filet, scallops, shrimp, and gnocchi all outstanding!
We were in New York with my fourteen year old, great niece from Salt Lake City, Utah to see Wicked on Broadway. Her excitement felt at the show was duplicated once she entered the restaurant for dinner. The menu was clear and easy to navigate with the various side dishes all fitting well with a fantastic steak dinner. The wait staff was attentive without being pushy. The room was stylish without being trendy.
I believe it will remain a special memory for my special little lady.
Mastro's has become my go-to restaurant in NYC. The food is fantastic every single time and the service can't be matched. Make sure you ask for Krystal or Aaron's section. You'll thank me!
I love how they always have live music and it's not overpowering. Also, the level of talent is top notch.
In the mood for seafood? It's always fresh and there's a great variety. Rather have some beef? You're in for a treat. I had a rib-eye once that was so good, I almost cried when it was gone.
This is a special place and shouldn't be missed.
My wife and I came here for our 13th Anniversary. It was the best dining experience we have ever had. They didn’t rush us. Are food was prepared correctly. Our waitress went above and beyond by adding a dessert on the house and letting us know that we could request a song from the live trio. We were extremely pleased!!
The service was beyond compare and the meal was magnificent! Our server Terrell was professional, knowledgeable and delightful. He even overheard that we were celebrating our nephew's engagement and surprised us with a special dessert. The band that was playing was awesome, not too loud to prevent conversation and super talented. The entire experience was perfect.
Always an amazing experience !
I’ve eaten at many great steakhouses. Mastro’s ranked with the best of them. Great steaks, great sides & great ambiance. Highly recommended!
We shared the 48 oz. porterhouse. It was fabulous! The creamed spinach is also amazing! The lobster mashed potatoes were also good. We loved our server! My only criticism would be that the restaurant is too dark. Every table seemed to be using their cell phone flashlight in order to read the menu and at various points throughout dinner.
Great high-end steakhouse! Went for our anniversary and we loved it. Service was excellent and food was incredible. Best steaks we have had in memory. Live music was a nice touch but made the place a bit loud and boisterous which we loved. Want quiet...try somewhere else.
Very good food but really loud
Excellent Great food. Great service The Bar was cool and the dining room was exciting
Mastro’s is an excellent steakhouse!
Our waitress, Kerry was wonderful.
They even comped USA big slice of chocolate cake for our anniversary!!
Enjoyable pre theater experience!!!
Our server kelsey was amazing!! The food and dessert was delicious!!
Excellent food for a meat eater. Unfortunately my wife only eats fish and the seafood selection was limited. I enjoyed the steak and the dessert was excellent
Steak came over done
