Mastro's Steakhouse - Houston
Excellent food and best service ever.
I’ve been to Mastros in Vegas and NYC. This one is not at the same level. Maybe those locations are more accustomed to being busy but this one is not. Waitstaff had major issues keeping track of our table. Food is always good but service leaves a lot to be desired
Food was fantastic, service was very good. Too Noise for a relaxing dinner and very distracting Tvs by the Bar with sports on it.
For the quality and value of the meal would expect a better ambiance to better enjoy it.
Upscale restaurant with a sports bar atmosphere , not sure i like it
Service and food were exceptional as always. Finished the evening off with their Buttercake! Do not leave without eating the Buttercake!!!

Mastro's is definitely an "in" spot if a crowded, noisy, bustling atmosphere is your "cup of tea". The food and service are excellent as are the portions. It is quite expensive, but that is to be expected in most steak and seafood restaurants.
It's the perfect restaurant for 'date night', celebrating a special event or just because one wants a spectacular meal. The seafood is sumptuous, steaks mouth watering and wine. Wonderful! Bon Appetit...
The first time I had Mastros they were amazing this time I was very disappointed. My kids wanted to take me out on a date and the broccolini was burnt and even though I asked for extra seasoning on my steak it had no flavor. The appetizer was great and the garlic mashed potatoes were good and the dessert was as well. The atmosphere was nice and it was very clean but that was my last time going there it’s too expensive for your food to not be satisfying.
This location did not exceed my expectations. Restaurant was very loud, checking in wants a pleasant experience. My steak was good, sides were not good. I actually sent my mash potatoes back.
Drinks were very good. I don’t believe I will frequent this location in Houston again. Very disappointed, also I was celebrating my boyfriend birthday; in which was his first time dining with Mastros
Hostess messed up our table # and proceeded to lie about it.
First General Manager tried to cover for her, told me that I had other table preferences on my portfolio and it was confusing for her. He bought me a single drink. When I told him that I had called Mary the day before, requested table #806 AGAIN, and SHE CONFIRMED, he backed off nicely, but the hostess screwed up. Finally, another General Manager, came over and admitted it was a screw up.
The sommelier was the one person who made it right, offering us a free bottle of champagne. Actually, I spent over $3300 this night, BUT WE WILL NEVER BE BACK. They lost a good high paying customer AND I HAVE A BIG MOUTH. Too many other high end steak restaurants to spend my money.

Really really loud. Couldn’t even carry a conversation on it was so loud.
Great Service and Food!
First Timer for my birthday. I had 8 people, but I was on the fence with 1 guest over. They said with 9 or more guest you have to sign a contract, min. of $1000 at the table, plus 18% gratuity. So long story short, one of my besties had to sit at the bar the entire night (insert sad face). HOWEVER, the Ambiance was EVERYTHING from the layout, the music, and the intimate lightening. I took so many photos everywhere. I definitely will be coming back soon. $6 valet parking which wasnt not bad. We had calamari (delicious), lamb chops, bacon steak, crab cake, bone-in Ribeye (tough), mashed potatoes, lobster mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, asparagus, cream spinach, and chicken. EVERYTHING was delicious, except the mac and cheese (very different) and the Bone in RIBEYE was a little tough. Family-style dining allowed us all to be about to share and have a great fest. The music was a little loud, we were basically screaming at each other lol, but it wasn't a noticeable concern. The drinks are fun and come with a shaker of your own for a refill!! It was a great birthday event for me. I'll be back!
My husband and I decided to celebrate our 8-year wedding anniversary at Mastro’s and we could not have been more pleased! We sat by the water wall so I think the sound of the water drowned out any other noise- but we could hear the band very well! My husband loved being able to see the games from his table! The waiter was kind, patient and very knowledgeable! Our food came out in a very decent timeframe and was beyond delicious! The warm butter cake...SPEECHLESS! I honestly cannot express how amazing it is and if I had not been so full I would have devoured the entire thing! We have fallen in love with Mastro’s and we will definitely be back! I can’t wait!
We celebrated my boyfriends birthday and had a great experience from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly and very attentive to our needs. All of my requests were satisfied to my liking. Great food and service. We will definitely be back.
Our favorite restaurant in Houston. Food and service are second to none. Ambiance is awesome. It’s pricey but it’s awesome...
Food was excellent. Salads were huge and those were the small portions. Steaks were fabulous, as were the crab cakes.
French onion soup had no flavor but everything else was delicious and perfect
Celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary at Mastro’s. Everyone greeted us with a “happy anniversary”! Our waitress helped us through selecting exactly what we wanted off the menu and did not rush us at any time. Our sommelier was outstanding. She recommended a Pinot Noir from Switzerland that was truly memorable. We also enjoyed talking to her about wines and our shared interests.
Overall, it was an excellent experience and we will go back.
Thank you for my special birthday dinner.
Recently a friend & I dined at Mastros. Luckily it wasn’t a busy day. The food & ambiance were great. However, we were less than pleased with our server Thao! He was not very attentive & at times disregarded what we wanted. I would not suggest him at all! We were able to speak with one of the Manager’s name Will, unrelated to any of issues & he was a breathe of fresh air! Lastly, we are Landry Select Club members & recommend its benefits!
Sunday is a very good day to go if you don't want to deal with the chaos of the really busy nights!
It was my first time and it was a nice place. The food was good but honestly I've had better food at other places not as expensive.
Great service and exceptional food!
Everything was perfect from the ambiance to the service to the food...it’s pricey but well worth it...the only bad thing is that there’s not really any parking so we use the valet parking which was $6 so that’s still not bad!! 👍🏽👍🏽
Spicy Oscar Style is outstanding!
My husband and I chose to dine at Mastro’s for our date night. What a great experience! From the time we walked in, drinks, dinner, the service was impeccable.
We started at the bar and the bartenders made a perfect dirty martini (which is sometimes difficult- don’t know why). Our waitress, Rachel, was fantastic. She made great recommendations and helped guide us through our choices. We had their east coast oysters which were delicious. We only wished they offered mignonette rather than cocktail sauce which hid the flavor of the oysters. My husband ordered the ribeye and was very pleased. It was cooked to medium rare perfection. I had the Chilean sea bass, which was a very generous portion (we took 1/2 home). I got it blackened, but still felt it was lacking a little flavor. It needed a broth or sauce, so I doused it in lemon and it brightened it up. We got the butter cake for dessert- a must try once! It was another generous portion, and a little goes a long way, but delicious.
We really enjoyed dining at Mastro’s, and will be back again !
The only thing that was a bit off (not because of Mastro’s) was the valet. We had to wait quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. We paid for the valet in our check, told them and showed our receipt, but they said they didn’t see it and charged us anyway. We had waited longer than seemed necessary already and did feel like spending more time arguing with them. We reviewed the receipt later- and sure enough we paid for the valet.
Mastro’s exceeded my expectations. Went for my wife’s birthday and was seated for six on time at 5:30pm. Had the seafood tower and drinks to start. The dry ice ambience made it fun. The table ordered steaks, lobster, and sides including lobster mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, button mushrooms, and brussel sprouts. Every bite was delicious and plates left clean. Desert was a collection of butter cake, chocolate cake, pecan pie, and vanilla bean ice cream. My wife’s desert was highly decorated and came with a candle. Service was fabulous. Michael was our waiter, and he ensured all we’re served promptly and checked back frequently. Our table was just inside and had a nice view of the water wall—beautiful and fun. The live music was nicely done. We were able to converse at our table without yelling. There was a broad selection of tables from inside to outside, from dark areas to light areas. Place was packed when we left at 8pm. They even called me the next day to check if we had a good time. This is #1 for fun and fabulous high end food. Come nicely dressed and expect high prices—Look at the menu in advance if you need to watch a budget. Sharing can reduce the cost. Compared to Steak 48, this is a step up in surroundings, selections, and service. Be wary of old reviews, they are obviously working to impress.
It was our Anniversary and the staff was terrific! The Floor Manager and Chef came by to say hello which created an even better evening. We needed to be rolled out we were that full!
Service was excellent. I celebrated my birthday with 12 people and the service was awesome! Will definitely be back
Fabulous food , ambiance and excellent service!!! Can’t wait to return !
We had a wonderful experience at Mastros! We celebrated my husband’s birthday and they made it special. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. Great bar, music, and overall ambience! We’ll be back!
Good location. Efficient Valet parking. Our table was ready when we arrived, but we didn't like it: it was by the entrance to the kitchen and in front of two large TV Screens with ongoing sports. I can't believe this restaurant has pretensions of being a finer place and they organize it as a sports bar. That's a huge ding in my book!!! We asked to have another table and they accommodated us, although there were two large TV screens in the other room too, but thankfully, they were off. Our server was efficient, but not helpful. The dessert portions were huge, each enough for 4-6 people and the waiter didn't have the integrity to warn or advise us. That's another big ding. The octopus carpaccio was very good, but the fried calamari were greasy, chewy and without much taste. The petit filet was done to my wife's specs, but it was devoid of even salt or pepper. My bone-in ribeye was perfect, and delicious! The wild mushroom side was delicious, but also to be shared, and so were the steamed asparagi. The two desserts were delicious, but we left 3/4 of both on the table. The additional servers could use some re-training, since they were reaching across the table in front of us, instead of walking around the table to pick up or deposit items. The place is very loud, so conversation is a challenge. Overall, the place has potential. However, the management needs to decide if they wish to run an expensive sports bar (in which case we will not go back), or a finer steakhouse. For the latter the TV sets need to go, the food needs to improve and the service also needs re-training. For the prices they charge, the customer can expect nothing less.
Very Nice!!! Our steaks and mushrooms were excellent. The scallops as an appetizer are very good. Be sure to try the warm butter cake with homemade whipped cream!!!!
Great!! Definitely recommend to others and very good food! Service was great!!
Everything was wonderful! This location is right up there with the North Scottsdale location!
THE best meal I have ever had. Started with cocktails at the bar & from there the night was set. Martini was perfect and the lively bar scene was awesome and had a great view of the beautiful patio. Moved to our table and everyone who greeted us acknowledged my boyfriend's birthday. Started with the beef carpaccio and scallops (could've done without the carpaccio tbh - huge serving and not the best ever) but the scallops.... TO DIE FOR. Entrees were the rack of lamb for him & I got a 6 oz filet with truffle butter (AMAZING) accompanied with a side of THE BEST mushrooms I have ever had and broccolini. Finished with a birthday dessert butter cake (they're apparently known for it and now I understand why) and a huge heaping side of whipped cream. Our server was amazing and her wine knowledge was very impressive. 10/10 will be back.
The wife and I celebrated our 59th wedding anniversary and was very pleased with the food, service, and care we received. We were not rushed during our dinner and the food was prepared to perfection. I was our first visit to Mastro's but we will return.
Went for an early Sunday dinner, service and food were outstanding. Will definitely return....especially for dessert.
The service was amazing. Live music is always nice. The lobster bisque was the best soup I have ever had. The filet was made to perfection. The sides all looked so good. We decided on the lobster mashed potatoes which is exactly as good as it sounds. Next time I will try the wagyu hamburger helper or the mac and cheese. I will for sure to be there again. Sooner rather than later.
