Ambiance was superb! Excellent customer service. Great for Happy hour
The restaurant is beautiful. I love the patio area. This is my third time going. The service was not as wonderful on this visit. I took a friend for her birthday. The server barely came to our table or any other table around the entire time. There were times when we had to call someone for help and I had to remind them that we were celebrating her birthday. The cake came out and they did not even light the candle. The gentleman waiting our table, walked off so fast we could not even say anything. There was another server whom we had seen most of the night waiting his table that we stopped and asked could he light out cake so we could sing happy birthday. Not a great experience this time.
Very noisy. Sooooo dark that waiters have to use flashlights to introduce the food. There is a bathroom attendant that has the entire counter filled with items like it's a 1980's night club.
Good looking interior, very hip crowd. Drinks were great! Oysters were really good, but hamachi sashimi and crab legs were obviously frozen previously (maybe a few times), so stick with oysters or try other starter. Steak was good and comparable to what we would expect from all the good steakhouses in Houston. Sides were good, and butter cake dessert was fantastic! Our waiter from Chi-town and those assisting him were all great and delivered excellent service! Valet should be complimentary, especially after spending $500 on a dinner for two.
Outstanding food and service as expected, but rather loud. Great for a group but not so much for a romantic dinner
Our first visit to Mastro's and we were overall impressed. Christopher was a great waiter while not being over bearing. red wine was slightly chilled and he did pour for us. Food was great. We came at 5:30 because Open Table did not show any reservations available at later times. However, there were only two other occupied tables in the dining room until 6:45, so this was a disappointment. It is noisy and loud, even at 5:30 and I would expect it to be louder as it fills up. Live music started at 6:30 and it actually did not contribute to the noise level. They don't take the Landry's card which is surprising since they tout this as their flagship restaurant. They also only wanted to honor an Open Table certificate for only half the value.
I've been to lots of Mastros in different cities and I was not impressed. It was like they were not really up to speed with the Mastros brand Of service, But I will Definitely be visiting your Arizona locations.
Fabulous restaurant - great food and great service. The only thing I didn't like was that the restaurant was so dark, you had to use your flashlight to see the menu. Also, the music was EXTREMELY loud - way too loud to enjoy yourself or your food. However, they did switch the music to something easier on the ears, but still loud.
Beautiful restaurant. Since Mastro’s is advertised as a steak restaurant, we ordered steak expecting it to be perfect. Three of the four had steak and all 3 had to be returned to the kitchen. One was ordered rare and it was over cooked. One was ordered medium and it was rare. Mine was suppose to be medium well ,and the waitress asked if if could be butterflied. That was fine. It arrived “rare”.
When the bill arrived, they charged for 4 steaks... not 3 but showed a no charge for the one that was over cooked. When asked about the 4 steaks, they said it was to show that 4 steaks were served since they had to replace the over cooked. There was no compensation for their mistake. We ate our sides while waiting for the steaks.
We will not return. We were expecting a fabulous dinner, but left disappointed.
Great food, service and facility. Only recommend brightening the lights a little more. We had a hard time reading the menu.
Beautiful Ambiance! However for a bowl of soup half full for price with little flavor isn't the value I'm accommodate to and I frequent many 4/5 star restaurants and lounges weekly!
Thursday night, party of six, resv at 7:45.
We chose this place for a family special occasion because we wanted to try it, and it’s a Fertitta restaurant. (Tilman was there at the time). We found the place way too noisy! The waiter had to yell at us when communicating to the whole table, and still didn’t hear everything. We had to talk very loudly when trying to converse with each other, very hard to communicate. The live band’s music was hard to make out. A wall of some kind needs to be erected between the west end dining area and the central bar. We’ve been to alot of the high end restaurants in the Houston area, and other cities when traveling, and found the food quality comparable, good, but not memorable. With Houston having a large number of potential Mastros patrons, the restaurant will probably do well. Currently it’s a higher end party restaurant, definitely not for business or occasions where communication is important. If this is what Mr Fertitta is looking for, then ok. Restaurant reviews by me are very unusual.
Food was absolutely delicious. Hats off to the chef. The stuffed mushrooms, lobster bisque and warm butter dessert were a special treat. The wait staff was attentive and helpful without being over bearing. But the restaurant was way too loud and tables too close together. The level of noise was such that our waiter had to lean in to talk to us each time. Level of noise and tables too close together would cause me to not recommend this restaurant. But the food was outstanding!!!
Had to wait a bit past our reservation time, but the service was incredible as was the food!
The restaurant was too noisy and dark. It was evident by all the flashlights on the iPhones that there wasn’t enough light for anybody in the entire restaurant to see their menu. And the noise level was so loud I couldn’t hear my waiter, or anybody else at my table. Definitely not a place for a business meeting. the Las Vegas and Phoenix restaurants were more enjoyable. However, My compliments to the chef, the bone in filet was perfect and the warm butter cake is what brings me back.
Great restaurant design with the ability to open wall to let outside into the main bar area. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The wine sommelier was helpful navigating the EXTENSIVE wine list. Picked a nice bottle that was a great choice and for less than I was willing to spend (aka great value).
Food was as good or better than the other restaurants in Houston and many other cosmopolitan cities in the US. Deserts were excellent and decedent.
Hard to go wrong with this place.
It was way too loud to have a good business discussion and the access was difficult. Food was good but not great.
So loud you can't talk to the person across the table
so dark the wait staff has to provide a flashlight
A5 Japanese Beef is worse than the American Wagyu
Valet wait for car return is minimum 15 minutes and it cost $5
Gorgonzola mac & cheese - SO good. Butter cake - worth every calorie. Loved our table by the water, nice ambiance, live band, excellent service, good wine. We really enjoyed our experience on a Sunday evening - not too crowded or noisy. The bone in ribeye was on par with all of the other excellent steakhouses in Houston. My husband loved his snapper. Brussel sprouts were average. Overall, we left happy and look forward to returning soon.
We were celebrating a bday. When they confirmed our reservation they even asked the name of the birthday girl. Our waitress never acknowledged it. Food was extremely slow and our waitress seemed extremely overwhelmed. Very good place to socialize. Food was great if you have lots of time.
Food was average, the restaurant is way too loud, and it's overly expensive for the value. I would recommend Steak 48, Pappas Steak in lieu of Mastro's.
Steak came out like a hockey puck, they re made... by the time my sides were cold. Tuna appetizer came out tipped over (presentation fail). Ordered salad no bacon.. they brought it out with extra bacon (insult). Server spilled sides on my wife apologized (accidents Happen, not upset). Offered dry cleaning but they never followed up, which was rude.
They did comp my streak (who cares).. I would have preferred to eat with my dining party and HOT sides. Waiters were pleasant and nice.. service was attentive except getting food right.
Had the worst possible seat for a party of 6. The table was cramped and next to a storage closet they kept opening and dragging chairs into during our dinner.
Our party’s tab was over $700.. overall the place has probably the best ambience in Houston. Yea I will give it another try only for this reason. But next time they mess up, I will be very demanding. You can’t expect to operate a 5 star restaurant with 2 star service. This would never happen at a fine dining steak restaurant. Funny part is a manger kept inspecting wine glasses for finger prints with a flash light. How about you begin with inspecting your kitchen and orders first!
I had my 30th birthday dinner here and my only complaint was the noise level. It was very hard to have a conversation without yelling over the table.
Excellent dining experience. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary. The food and service was amazing. Loved the lively bar area, as well.
Enjoyed a table in the bar area, it was a nice evening and the patio was open to the bar. Live music started around 7:30. Husband and I had a good time.
Absolutely fantastic service and phenomenal food!!
Great atmosphere, great food, great ambiance, great service. William was awesome! We were seated in the dining room area to the back left, so it wasn't as noisy, but walking out, the bar area was extremely noisy and crowded. Overall, good experience!
Way too noise! Even for our friends get together, it was so noisy we had to scream at each other. It felt like your regular cheap chain restaurant but VERY expensive. $500 for 4 people. Food was very mediocre: salads consisted of lettuce swimming in mayo, and sushi rolls were flavorless rice with nothing interesting going on.
Won’t be back.
It was an awesome experience.
We were celebrating my friends birthday. She had a blast.
Thanks for all the service and help to make her feel special.
Thank you! And the table location was the best one. I need it for next time.
Great dinner and service!
Best restaurant! Great ambience and the food is amazing
Christian, our server, was awesome. Place had super nice ambience and the food was delicious.
Def coming back!
Our waiter Christian was impeccable in his service. In fact all staff waiting on us were incredibly attentive. The two minor things we weren't happy with were easily ignored due to the excellent service.
It was the best!
It was my birthday and the food, service and drinks was outstanding! It was my first time here but definitely will not be my last time!
I will never go back to Mastro’s. One of the hostess was rude , not welcoming at all. The other two were nice . The restaurant was nicely decorated, very energetic so much so that we couldn’t hear each other speak. Our waiters hygiene was unacceptable. He stayed in our personal space . The food was just ok , my side came out luke warm so I had to return them . I was turned all the way off when the waiter refused to separate our checks no one told us before that they didn’t do that. The manager was nice enough to accommodate us. I will never go back.
I loved everything about this restaurant!
We enjoyed the evening but for a group of 9 it was very difficult to have any conversation. It was extremely loud.
Great food, wonderful service! Our server Chris was always present but never too close! Best dessert I've ever had, get the Butter cake!!!
