Absolutely wonderful experience! We have experienced fine dining across the US and internationally. We are always looking for new upscale steakhouse dining options and this was our first time at Mastro's. Our server, Michael, was knowledgeable and accommodating throughout our visit. He guided us through our dinner selections to ensure we had the best experience the chef had to offer. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite food, the unique menu selections, the food presentation and the overall romantic ambiance of Mastro's. All of the wait staff were professional and helpful. We look forward to returning and we would certainly request Michael upon our return.
This restaurant was top of the line! Outstanding in all categories!
Service was not as good as usual. Food was outstanding. We have the tomahawk ribeye with twin lobster tails. Outstanding!
We had a pleasant experience at Mastro's. We went the weekend after Valentine's Day, so it was a bit crowded but we appreciated that we could make reservations only a couple days ahead. We read some reviews that said some people were seated in areas for walk-ins even though they made reservations, so we were nervous about that happening to us too, but that was not the case. The service was good and attentive. I would say the biggest reason this place isn't getting a stellar review is that the steaks we got were just ok. My bf got the chef's cut new york strip medium. In our opinion it was medium rare- I encouraged him to send it back right off to cook more, but he didn't want to make a fuss. I ordered the bone in ribeye medium-rare. It was about the right temperature, especially after sitting on the scalding hot plates they bring it out on, however, my steak was incredibly gristly. I'd say about 90% of the bites I took had some gristle in it that I had to figure out how to spit out politely- not easy! And while you're eating a big steak (22oz I believe) you really can't tell if there will be gristle throughout- I thought oh I got a tough bite but ill move on, but the entire thing was really like that. If I would have realized it was all that way I would have asked for another but it wasn't until I was really like halfway through that I thought man this is a lot of work and I think the whole thing will be. I didn't want to try to get another one after eating so much. So, the steaks, which is why we went to a steakhouse, left a lot to be desired. The garlic mashed potatoes- delicious. Sugar snap peas- delicious. Bread- delicious. But the steaks left us feeling disappointed and like suckers for how much we paid for them.
My boyfriend and I celebrated Valentines Day at Mastro’s and it was amazing! Every waitress and waiter that passed by ask if we were ok or needed anything. Our drinks were delicious! The shrimp cocktail was amazing along with our dinner choices. I had the ribeye bone-in medium and he ordered the crab cakes as his entree with a shareable side of lobster mash potato. Wow! We will definitely be back!
Food was excellent as it always is, but I still think it is overpriced
Racially Profiled. We set a reservation on opentable for Valentines Day Weekend. My wife and I showed up promptly 15 minutes before the reservation. We were dressed business casual, closer to formal. We were sat at a high table initially. We requested to move because of the anticipated live music, which we were not interested in hearing. This is probably my 4th time here, and last time.
I hosted a birthday dinner on our last visit which approximately $2500 was spent. I now regret patronizing this establishment. Looking a bit deeper into the reviews, THERE IS A CULTURE OF RACIAL SEGREGATION THAT IS HAPPENING. Management tries to justify it by hanging the excuse on dress code, but there is a toxic culture that is being followed at this store that needs to come to the forefront.
THIS IS BAD BUSINESS, MASTRO'S.
There are MULTIPLE bad reviews that mention race, where I see management has NOT responded. For it to be 2019, this is UNACCEPTABLE.
The energy of the manager who addressed our issue, was pretty much unapologetic. It was someone who didn't show the professionalism they should have showed. There was no attempt to accommodate, or to make us feel better about a situation that quite frankly; is unacceptable this day in age.
We went down the street to Ocean Prime, and happily spent our $450 dollars on better food and better service.
Contacting the BBB second.
We have eaten at Mastro's many many times but the location in DC is by far the worst. We will not return. The manager, Jason, does not understand the customer service industry at all. Very rude and not accommodating.
Delicious!!! Best Ribeye I ever had. Staff was friendly and well coursed with the menu. There is a lot of emphasis on the dress code. However, it appears that it is only liberally enforced.
My first visit to Mastro's was a mixed experience. Service was great. Live music in the bar was a plus. Food was mixed, with good grades for Chilean sea bass and garlic potatoes, but the crab cakes and sautéed spinach were sub-par -- the latter being over saturated w/ garlic.
Very expensive (food and drinks ). No kids menu . Too many other excellent restaurants in DC to choose from for less . My bill was 285 for two people and after tipping over 350 for a waitress who was knowledagle but not readily available or pleasant !
First time eating and dinning at Mastro's. My family and I had a good time.
Server could have been a little more attentive. Food was delicious and worth the price point in regards to portions served.
I love Mastro's. I went with 7 friends to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing and so were the drinks. Our waiter was awesome. I had been before, but he explained to menu to some of my friends who were on their first visit. When I arrived at the restaurant to meet my friends, they cheered when I walked in, probably because it was my birthday, and I was looking really cute :-) However, the hostess at the front desk was not amused. They quickly came over and told us to shush (aka, keep it down). I thought that was a little rude since they only cheered once, it's not like it was an all out parade. Once we were seated, the table of men sitting next to us was very loud. No one said a word to them. I wonder why? Other than that I enjoyed my time. I just didn't like the host staff and how they tried to chide us like we were children!
Best dinner I’ve had in awhile! Great food and service was excellent!
The food and service were fantastic.
I loveed everything about this restaurant the steak was so juicy and tasty omg I will be coming here again.
The host was rude, aside from everything else. The experience was pleasant.
Overall great dining experience. The Signature Warm Butter Cake is a must!!
The service was amazing and the food was even better. Will be coming again
The waiter did not explain the extra cost of the food pricing. The waiter recommended items but failed to explain the additions fee. I selected items from the menu and was charged double the menu cost. I never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Just for the record, I don't mind paying for a good meal, but I want my money worth. I paid $290.00 before the trip for a meal that was just okay.
Great place ‘
An amazing experience, loved everything about it
Sam, our waiter, was absolutely amazing! He helped us find great meals! I loved the entire experience!
Even though we were 45min late they still accommodated u, we were seated right away. Food was good, not great.
I always love dining at Mastro's. The ambiance is great and the staff is knowledgeable, very accommodating, and very pleasant. The food is great! I would definitely recommend!
Valentine’s Day very busy and as always everything came out perfect!
The hostesses were average at best the waiter didn’t introduce himself very average service. The waiter walked by our table several times without saying a thing. Very average service.
We love Mastros (D.C.)...every time we celebrate it’s done at Mastro’s!
Throughly enjoyed our meals. Filet perfectly prepared and sea bass was excellent. Their signature side, lobster mash potatoes was outstanding.
Went during Lunch for Vday. We had the special witch was the Waygu Tomi hawk steak with lobsters. We also had the Gorgonzola Mac and Brussels for our side dishes. Steak was out of this world. One of the best steaks I had in along time. The lobster was tender and full of flavor. The dishes wasn’t good at all. The Gorgonzola Mac n cheese was super dry and the Brussels sprouts were a little mushy. The service was great and the ambiance is nice. I guess I would recommend don’t order the sides during lunch 😞
Restaurant was exactly what I thought it would be... superb steak, excellent service, everyone works very well together to make sure the guest have great experience.
Get the chef cut ribeye!! Service is always great. Bathroom attendant is a little rude but otherwise always a perfect experience here
Best steak I've had in a long time. All the food and service was top notch! Shout out to their wine expert Jason who recommended a fantastic wine to go with our meal!
The food was excellence. The service was slow for a high end restaurant.
Husbands birthday. Steak came out over cooked and processed the first time and second go around it came out bland. My husband was very dissatisfied however he didn’t want to get the manager involved. $200 plus dollars wasted. Definitely a first bad impression considering we were super excited about dinner this day for his birthday.
Excellent restuarant, great food and service was excellent. A little price, but to be excepted. Overall, a great experience.
The service was amazing and the food was great! I will definitely be back.
Definitely get a steak.
Horrible experience. We like the Mastros in New York so went expecting great service but received the opposite. Staff was rude and and up charged us by bringing a steak that we did not order. I would encourage Pete open table users to avoid this place at all costs!
