Always great to come during restaurant week - it's the only RW meal that's DEFINITELY worth it. Love Mastros!
Yes, service and food was excellent. Outstanding service and food during a busy restaurant week.
Note noise level a little loud in entry, otherwise great!
Yesterday I had a 7:00pm reservation at Mastro’s for two people under the name Pitts. We arrived promptly at 7:00pm. We reserved a high top table but there were none available when we arrived so we were seated else where. Our table was located near the doors to a large private event so we were forced to deal with lot of people walking in and out to the event all evening.
When our food arrived the waiter placed everything on the table but did not serve us our side dishes. We were the only table in our vicinity that was not served. The food was great, as always, but we were rushed out by our waiter because of restaurant week.
Once we exited the restaurant to retrieve our car from the valet we were handed the keys as the valet pointed to the block our car was parked on. The valet said he was extremely busy and was unable to retrieve our car. We then walked to our car even though we paid for valet service.
Overall I was highly unsatisfied with the service we received. As a loyal Mastro’s customer I expect a certain level of service that was not received last night. I understand it was crowded because of restaurant week but there is no excuse for the poor service.
Our waitperson, Al, was fabulous. Attentive without being a nudge. It was restaurant week and a great value for the price. We ordered a cocktail first. They were all delicious and the presentation for the Lemon Drop Martini was a wow factor. With regards to the food...onion soup was delicious but scanty; the Mambo salad was very soggy and way over dressed; filet and pork chop both delicious. We ordered a baked potato and split it three ways. The presentation of the meat was lacking. Plates way to big for the portion size. Basically unattractive. Bare looking. Desserts were well portioned and delicious. Overall ambience is nice except the music was so loud we had to lean in to talk. We all decided we would probably not return for dinner because of the loudness of the music and the selection. If you are spending $150 (or more) per person for dinner, you expect a certain vibe.....this would not be it.
Wonderful experience while celebrating my birthday. THANK YOU!
Someone has just supplanted Ruth’s Chris as a favorite!
Why the weird cover songs over the speaker? All the songs were common pop songs but horrible covers.
It was a wonderful experience and the service was excellent
Wonderful service, delicious food, and vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
I waited far to long to be acknowledged by my server. We had to flag her down! She never offered or brought bread to the table. Then to top it all off I was asked my management to move tables towards the end of my meal and for it u got 1 free drink! I usually sit in the dinning room at this place but this experience was lack luster and pure ghetto. I may give this place one more chance but my experience was nothing like I’m used to. I’m happy to go to Joes a few blocks down if this place can’t get it together. I get it was busy but my server shouldn’t need me to give her a few dirty looks to be polite and do her job. Service was all over trash.
Mastro’s was excellent! The food was delicious and the service impeccable!
Birthday dinner - always Amazing. My experience never disappoints. How ever I would like them to change the restaurant week menu, it’s been the same for years.
Great for Restaurant Week! Server was a little shy- maybe he was new? but the food was great and great prices for the restaurant week! I had the tuna sashimi, filet mingon steak and the butter cake- all delicious! Left full but not overly full where I felt sick and tired!
The food was tasty however the food was not hot. It was only room temperature. At the point I’m paying $300 for a party of two I expect a restaurant to exceed my expectations.
Came for restaurant week, they had a nice selection of main courses. It was disappointing that sides cost almost as much as the main courses. Cocktails were also very expensive, too bad would have loved to try one.
Service was excellent—that’s the reason I kept my review at 5 stars.
Everything was great. Gorgeous atmosphere. Nice staff. Goog meal!
Great atmosphere , amazing food. They also have a live singer there at times and her voice is amazing ! Highly recommend this place
Other than the sick guest next to us service and food was good. I give credit to management for moving us when they noticed when they realized they had a sick patron.
The only thing I would change about that night if I could would be the "eating in darkness". I don't know why that's a thing. I didn't care for eating in darkness where you can't really see the food you're eating. What's that all about?
It was my boyfriends 44th birthday and we wanted to get out of Maryland and try something different. A coworker posted a picture of her and her husband enjoying a nice dinner two weeks ago and I contacted her and inquired about the restaurant. I was very impressed and loved the food!
A great late-night visit! The food was over the top and the service was spot on. An added bonus was the amazing and talented musicians! Would highly recommend. Tom Boucher
I have been to Mastro's the last two years for my anniversary. Both times were perfection! The knowledge and professionalism of the servers is always impeccable. You leave feeling full and so happy! This last time we ordered the Wagyu steak - even though it's very pricey it is TOTALLY worth the cost. The steak practically melts in your mouth. The lobster mashed potatoes are also to die for. This restaurant is a MUST GO!
Food and service was excellent. The seating can improve. The tables are small, and so lose together that I could touch my neighbors elbow. But other than that it was a good experience.
It was great my waiter was amazing
Great food... nice place for special event. A little expensive, but enjoyed everything.
We had a good dinner, but many of the other steak houses are better than this one. The steak was tasty and prepared well -- perfect medium rare temperature for me. I was actually disappointed in the sides. The "specialty" of Lobster Mashed Potatos was terrible! Mealy, too much Old Bay, and for some reason really watery. The creamed corn was too much cream, not enough corn. The mac and cheese was just ok. They did a better job with the veggies -- brussels sprouts and mushrooms were very good. On the whole we had a pleasant dinner but again, I think for the prices, there are other steakhouses I would select over this one.
Great ambiance and food. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We sat in the bar section and had a lovely time. Jazz provided excellent service, the live music performance was amazing and food was delicious. We had a great time and can’t wait to return.
Great service. The food was delicious but the prices were a little bit high for the portion sizes you received. The cocktails were superb.
Best upscale restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. Food, ambiance, service live music and value are all top notch.
Outstanding service staff and food was outstanding!
Amazing staff, amazing service, impeccable from the entry to exit. The best restaurant we have ever experienced to date. We highly recommend and will be return again, to this location or one of there others in our nations biggest cities.
Our servers name was Sam, he was outstanding! We really loved our dinner with our very good friends celebrating a special occasion! The food was delicious, the waiter was friendly and fantastic and the live music was exceptional!!
Thank you Mastros!! I have enjoyed dining in your Newport Beach location (my home town)... so I felt very confident you wouldn’t let us down on our last night in D.C.
Will definitely recommend to family and friends.. as well as a return visit!!
My man and I came here on New Year's Day and it was so great! The vibe, the service, and the food was WONDERFUL! We will be back!
It was my husband’s birthday. The service was outstanding as our waitress was very knowledgeable and candid about the menu. The ambiance and live music was absolutely amazing. My only complaint is that the food fell considerably short of my expectations; a little on the salty side. Restaurants at this price point are definitely held to a higher standard as it relates to food preparation. Food should be flavorful and unfortunately that was not my experience. It was our first time dining, I had a good experience, but wouldn’t feel inclined to return.
We celebrated New Year’s and my sisters 40, everything was wonderful
I made reservations for 5 which increased by 1 and Mastro was able to accommodate. We were greeted and seated within minutes of arriving. Our waiters name was Rice, he recommended the Rice cocktail and it delicious. The food was delicious and the portions were large.
Mastros is one of our favorite restaurants in the city. This night the things that can change the review were off, food and service. As for the food, the slightly less than medium filet mignon I ordered was served medium-well. Our server had it redone and during that time my broccoli cooled. On the service end. We waited to order our drinks until our food was served so we would have a toast at midnight. We ordered around 11 served around 11:25 and pressed our server to get our drinks before 12. Those are the things that dropped the rating to a 3 from the usual 4.7-5.
I would recommend this restaurant. Food and atmosphere is amazing.
The best restaurant in DC ever been to
