The food was prepared perfectly, but seasoning and sauce was needed. We love Steakhouses and have visited some of the top premier places DMV has to offer. For this to be our first time here we thought it wasn’t that special. Live music was a treat!!! Beautiful atmosphere, lovely service. Manager was very kind to us. We didn’t ask for anything to be removed from our bill but the management service was excellent and made a concession on our bill. Just my husband and I created over 300 dollars. Manager also gave us dessert on the house. Which was BOMB. We had the Scallops, Lamp Chops and the Sea Bass.
My date and I had a great time! We sat in the dining area and could hear the screams from the people in the bar watching the football game.... and all we wish IS THAT WE COULD SEE THE TV TOO! lol we caught a bit of the tv’s reflection on the glass door so that was good. Overall great first time experience!
The music in the bar was outstanding!
Their service was great and the food is always amazing!
Great atmosphere. Music was great and of course the food was excellent
Great food as usual. Went for restaurant week. Have been to locations in Malibu and Beverly Hills, and this was my second visit to the location in Washington, DC. All are consistently good.
Went for restaurant week. GREAT value for what you are getting, and probably the best steak i have had in years.
Great service and delicious food. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very romantic, so this is a great date night spot.
Went for Restaurant Week. The food was fine, nothing I thought was special or exceptional.
I dined here for restaurant week. It appeared that all the guess whom patronized for retsaturant week were set together in the basement of the restaurant and was separated from other guest. In addition our server Nicolle was rude and not warm nor friendly she lacked customer service. In addition she failed to listen as she would cut you off and shorten the conversation. The busboys bagged our leftovers and set them on the floor. I frequent this restaurant and was surprised by the poor service during restaurant week. DC location is usually awesome but not this day.
Another birthday celebration at Mastro’s!
Wonderful atmosphere , great customer service and food was delicious.will be back
I had such a bad experience here last week because of the following reasons:
1) Had reservations for 4 people and was seated on the no-reservation table (it was tiny and uncomfortable).
2) The waiter was not very nice when we asked him if we could move to a normal table and he said we can't because we didn't have reservations but we told him we did so he went to talk to the hostess.
3) The waiter was also really slow for not being that backed up on his side of the restaurant.
4) After an hour of waiting on the small table we finally move to the normal table and our waiter there was really nice. I believe his name was Christian. He was very nice and mindful of the fact that the service was slow.
5) The food sucked. My friend ordered a burger and you could hear it when you knock on it. My other friend ordered a medium steak and it didn't come with anything..literally just steak on a plate and it was medium-well to almost well.
6) We weren't asked for drinks or got to choose or sides with our meals. They just came as is.
7) Overall, we spent 2 hours at this restaurant and were only semi-satisfied.
My husband and I visited during Restaurant Week. The food was great and the service was outstanding. Seriously, the Mastro’s Margarita was the best I’d had in a while!
Did a Restutant week menu - had the filet (cooked to medium with pink center as ordered)
No sides included so had to order extra for the table - not so bad (about $25 for 2 sides) the grilled Brussels sprouts were excellent - scalloped potatoes just OK. For appetizer, I the Momo salad, was OK but not memorable. My companion had the baked onion soup. Unfortunately, she had recently had the onion soup at Le Diplomat, which outclassed this version. Had to use tel flashlights read menus and conversation was sometimes a bit of a strain (there was a 2 person “band” and 2 birthday celebrations in progress- don’t know if that’s typical (in terms of noise level)). I had been to the M&S Grill (former occupant of this space) many time. Mastro is definitely a step up
The service, food and ambiance was as always, Outstanding!
Food was amazing. We went for restaurant week and really enjoyed the food. BUT overall service experience was not good. First of all, the greeters were terrible, we were seated on the upper level in the bar area, right next to the lobby/waiting area so there people standing at our table. We felt uncomfortable to sit there so we requested to sit downstairs. The greeter told us nothing was available downstairs, which was a HUGE lie, because when we eventually got seated downstairs, 2/3 of the tables were empty and they still weren't filled completely when we left. We had to speak to different greeters and the manager, they had different reasons for not sitting us downstairs, one said there were no seats before she even checked, one said because I wasn't dressed up enough - my friend was wearing business casual outfits. Well, this is not the reason obviously, because there were plenty of people wearing jeans, ugg boots, sweaters, and yes, t-shirts when we got downstairs. I understand they have sort of a policy, but they should have treated people fairly. I think they have a different team, because last year my friend and I were treated completely different - in a very nice way. I think they now ain't care about nothing.
Lovely experience. My husband is handicapped and The staff was very accomadating in our seating without being asked. Everyone was kind and helpful to him
I tried this establishment during restaurant week like mostly everyone there. I will be going back to try their wagyu beef. The filet mignon was tender and succulent. The butter cake was definitely a sinful treat!
Had lots of expectations for this restaurant. Unfortunately, at end of the day it’s about service and food and the they didn’t live up to my expectations. Food could’ve been corrected had service been more attentive. Some say you get what you pay for and restaurant week proves no reason to go if you’re gonna get crappy service because the restaurant Decides to participate. At their prices, not sure I’m willing to take the risk of it being different outside of Restaurant Week! I tried to not let this happen by ordering wine and sides which weren’t included in the pre fixe menu but the staff seems to be locked in on the fact that you can’t get a good deal and good service. Really disappointed, that the aspect of providing good service seems to be lost.
A dinner at Mastro's is a GREAT value when it's Restaurant Week; otherwise, not sure it would be worth the money. My experience began at the bar while waiting for my party to arrive. The bartender chose to be deep in conversation with the three men next to me and it took several minutes for him to even acknowledge my presence. To my surprise, when he did choose to acknowledge me, he flung a cocktail napkin in my direction. I can't imagine why he would think a 55+ year old woman would be at all satisfied with that treatment. Again, after several minutes of thinking he would surely look my way, I had to forcefully interrupt his conversation to share what type of wine I had selected. As mentioned, the Restaurant Week dinner is a terrific value and the reason why we chose the restaurant. Our server, Rice, was attentive and helped make our dinner feel special. We added the roasted bone marrow to our appetizers, and were sadly disappointed (the Blue Duck Tavern has a much better offering.) The Restaurant Week menu with its three core appetizers, the filet mignon and butter cake and cheesecake deserts were all delicious and perfectly prepared. Our party felt that, unless you're on a well-heeled expense account, there are better options for a lovely steakhouse dinner experience.
This was a return visit. Fantastic meal, as expected. The service is what really sets Mastro's apart. Ask to be seated in Alan's section. By far, one of the best servers in the city.
Great meal Steak was done perfectly. Excellent service. I will go back again next time in Washington.
Decided to take my wife to Mastro and take advantage of restaurant week for our date night! Food was superb and restaurant week menu drastically lowered our cost!!!
Extremely loud music for a Monday night. Couldn’t have a conversation at my fourtop table. Had to keep asking my client to repeat himself. Had to ask server to turn down music so we could converse.
King crab was ok. NY strip ordered medium came out raw. When my client his steak the rest of us were finished eating which made for awkward presence.
And the bar some how ran out of knob creek. How does that happen?
Best birthday dinner celebration ever!!! Great food, drinks, entertainment and service! Can't wait for return visit.
Overall ambience of Mastro’s is very nice. Great accommodations, decor, and service. Presentations of appetizers, entree’s and desserts with service was excellent. The only criticism here was the value for the price point. Nothing I ate really “wowed” me except their signature Butter Cake. I had to admit it was to die for. The sides were basic, the entree’s were decent , but the value of the food outside of the dessert wasn’t that memorable to me. I frequently cook, so when I go outside to eat @ A place like Mastro’s, I should be reasonably impressed. It was a great experience, but I probably won’t patronize again.
With tip for 4 people, our dinner tab with just a moderate bottle of wine, two drinks, steaks and splitting one dessert cost almost $700. Then there was a $12.00 charge for the valet parking. Would you go?
Hamien* made the experience awesome for my first time visiting!
I made reservation for a birthday, but I guess they didn’t know. There was no mention of any birthday condolences by any of the staff, other than that the experience and food were great!
Great service & food! Butter cake was awesome!!!
I always love coming to Mastro’s. Brought my Mom for her birthday it was her first time. The service was excellent, the food was amazing as usual and the live music was great. Our waiter Al did a fantastic job and Manager Stephen was very nice.
We dine here often for lunch. This was our first dinner and it was fantastic. Great food. Great atmosphere and a staff that goes above and beyond!
Mastros is a good restaurant -- the food, service and environment are all nice. The prices are exorbitant though. There are other choices with food that is just as good but with more reasonable prices in the vicinity.
Great food and great service!
As always had a great evening. The service was outstanding as well as the food. I will come again.
My boyfriend and I had reservations for New Years night dinner at 9:15. We got there ontime and was seated almost immediately. Our server whose name was Rice was very accomodating and suggested great drinks, honestly he was the best server out of all the many times I had been at Mastro’s he always refilled our waters and drinks and came to check on us constantly. The food came out perfectly even though the kitchen closed early that night. The steak was perfect.
Never an issue, it is always a pleasure to eat here and see excellent customer service.
