Mastro's Steakhouse - Costa Mesa Ratings and Reviews
My friends selected Mastros for their Christmas dining, me being their host. The noise level was horrific and had I made the selection on my own I would have been mortified. We could not even shout out a sentence. Terrible! Will not return! Mastros on the Ocean is decent and never had that noise problem!!!
The food was great and the service was top notch! One of our servers even apologized about 5 times when she accidentally spilled mashed potatoes on top of our steak like it was the end of the world! They really care about your experience and make sure you get an enjoyable meal.
Food was fantastic - oysters on the 1/2 shell, tuna tartare with jalapeño and petite filet mignon. Great service and large selection of cocktails and a robust wine list. The noise level with live music was too loud, and was hard to hear over it. Highly recommend for food and service.
Service was fast , we've to to that location a few times . We enjoy it because the tables are so close like other locations . Waitress was rude and very unprofessional, I expect this from mortons steakhouse but mastros .. I don't . The birthday girl didn't even get to choose her dessert ..
As always, the food is just delicious. It's elegant comfort food, in my opinion. The service was sluggish. The live music was intolerable. We left with our heads throbbing and were unable to hold a conversation once the music began. AND -- we were seated in a room away from the bar.
Food was amazing and servers were excellent... only issues we had were at the bar ordering drinks prior to dinner. Bartenders routinely passed without acknowledging us, helped other patrons that arrived after we did and honestly didn’t speak more than a couple of words to us, not even a thank you... we ended up dropping $2,500 in an eight person dinner, which I’m sure the restaurant appreciated, however, I often visit restaurants with much smaller party sizes and sit at the bar. Mastro’s will not get that type of business from me in the future.
Food is always amazing at Mastro's however I did make a reservation and I was seated in the bar area which I was not happy with I asked to sit in the dining room and was told I can but there is going to be 30 min wait.
I was on important date and could not hear a world he said because of the noise level in that area we were seated. service was just ok not like when your in the main dining room
our waiter did not even go over the specials for that night. will be back for the food but will not sit in that area again.
Beef and Veal selections and sides, salads were truly exceptional as expected. My wife ordered the Halibut for her main which was sent back to over cooking (very dry and MUCH more firm then it should have been) did take a long time to refire another. When that came it was two bites in the very middle that were "pass-able" but the rest, again uneatable.
If you are looking for a seafood main dish, do yourself a favor and go to the Ocean Club in Newport. Never, EVER have an issue there.
This was our first time at Mastro’s and we weren’t disappointed. The staff were attentive & friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere delightful. The only negative comment I have is the lights were too dim. I had to borrow a flashlight from our server to read the menu. All in all a wonderful dining experience!
We are Four Friends from high school who get together for our regular get-togethers to celebrate our 40 year's friendship a few times a year and Mastro's came up on our list for Christmas. OMG!!! Everything here is first class. Receptionists, waiter and crew were exceptional!! Our waiter was from Romania and was really helpful with helping us order wine and food. The food was absolutely divine!! All four of our meals were cooked to perfection!! We ordered filet mignon, herbed chicken, halibut and the rack of lamb. Our side dishes were sautéed green beans, Brussel sprouts and 1 pound baked potato with all the fixings that we all shared. And of course, let's talk about dessert - we ordered the creme brûlée and the hot butter cake. Scrumptious!!!! We hit the jackpot all the way around!! I think this will have to be our annual Christmas get together from now on!!!!!
We loved the food, however, our waiter just seemed too busy to help us much. We kept having to wave down other waiters to help us. This ended up adding an additional 20-30 minutes to our dining experience. I normally wouldn't complain about this but for the price, would expect much better service. We really appreciated the added birthday cake(s) though, thank you.
