Mastro's Steakhouse - Costa Mesa
Book your next event with us
The steaks were great but the sides, OMG the sides are amazing! The sautéed mushrooms especially (and everything else) was delicious!
It was the best experience for my husband and I, we will be back soon.
A+ as usual! Thank you!
Made the reservation a week ahead. Noted it was for a birthday and we were sat in a very loud bar. They acknowledged we were there celebrating a birthday, yet never gave us the dessert that is customary for birthdays there. We use to go there every year, but after this visit we’re done
Very nice restaurant with great food. Service at times was a little slow; had to ask for water, had to ask for fork and steak knife after they inexplicably removed them from the table after the salad, etc. Overall pretty good.
We really enjoy the restaurant. All the waiters were friendly and helpful. The food was very good. Highly recommend.
Service was awesome! I think his name was David. Checked on us the entire time. My steak came out medium rare versus medium well. When they brought it back, it was charred and black. I still ate it and they took it off the bill which was super nice. The garlic mashed pot need more flavoring. The butter cake was amazing, along with the chocolate covered strawberries. I would come back here again!
Overall experience was very poor. We have dined at many steakhouses and Mastro’s did not even meet expectations. The food was horrible and cold we had to send it back and even after waiting an additional 15 more minutes for the food that was supposed to be warmed up the flavor still wasn’t there. Me and my wife were highly disappointed in this place. We ordered the A5 Wagyu expecting high quality since it’s one of the finest meats and the most expensive on the menu and it was not
Tasty. We have ate at capitol grille, Steak 44 , Ruth Chris, Donovan’s, and many more and Mastro’s is at the very bottom in our expectations. Our server was kind, very educated of the menu and tried to provide good service but the food was not great at all! Very disappointed Mastro’s!
Our server was uncomfortable. Very aggressive for a 5 star restaurant.
Scallops potatoes were dry, steak was burnt. I’ve had the ocean club Mastro’s and it was 5 star service for my wife and I.
The food was great and it wasn't overtly crowded for Valentine's weekend. Very nice.
It was wonderful love the food the ambience and the staff. No complaints at all I recommend it to everyone or anyone
Great v day experience
It was our fourth time there. The second Valentines Day in a row and coincidentally we had the same waitress! We had already recommended it to our friends and we will continue going.
The waitress which name I do not remember and all the staff were great. Keep up the good work!
Worst experience ever! This was supposed to be the highlight of our valentine’s day but it became the worst experience ever.
1st Valentine’s Day
The food was delicious but the place was a mad house ! Disorganized and chaotic! We had a reservation and still waited 40 minutes to be seated. We will not be going here again.
Great dining for a date
it was a little bit sub par for the evening. it was still a nice night, but we brought another couple and it just seemed that it wasn't what we had lead the to believe. we are used to a higher class of service. we had to ask about out the specials and our service was quite slow. food was good, but steaks weren't cooked enough. we just decided to eat the out sides instead of wait longer for our food. Food didn't come all together. drinks didn't arrive at the same time. as for additional items that we never received.
Really enjoyed our family time there!
Service is unmatched! Steak was good, but not amazing. Overall, a great experience!
The food was excellent. Request a table in one of their many dining rooms. They have upstairs dining too! I don't like to be seated right next to someone so we requested along the side area of one of the rooms. When you make reservations you should have a good table. Focus is on steaks however we had lobster roll and shrimp. Sides are good portion for the table. They did try to accommodate all our requests and more.
This Mastro’s is a must “go to”
Wonderful food and I don’t eat steak. The drinks and seafood were amazing!
Menu has changed and was disappointing to find no stuffed crab mushrooms. My wife’s salad was missing olives and heart artichokes, my steak wasn’t medium well. They did take some money off the bill and I didn’t ask for it but was appreciated. Overall probably had medium well steak cooked the right way 1/6 times I’ve been there. I guess I should just order well done and it will be slightly pink. Just expect a little more from what I consider the best steakhouse out there. Hope all of this stuff improves. People are great there and we live across the street
As always food was delicious. Service was impeccable and the desserts were scrumptious
The food overall was good, however the $200 steak we ordered as medium well plus, was bloody and we could not eat about 20% of it and left it on the plate. Also, my wife had stomach issues (that was the only symptom for a few days after). She attributed it to the Sea bass.
The service was pretty good, not great, many walked by without checking on us when we were trying to get the bill. The bread was great, the dessert was great, the sides were great.
Fantastic as always.
Everyone was friendly. The food was delicious
We love this restaurant and have been to multiple locations across the country. We love the food drinks and have known to go there for just their butter cake. We had requested a booth to sit together and they sat us across from each other...with my wife in a the booth and me in a chair. Other than that it was a wonderful experience.
This is our favorite restaurant to go to for a romantic dinner. It’s amazing service every single time.
Food was Great, Noise was way too loud, server was subpar.
If you are look for great food then go, if you are looking for ambience and friendly service then you may not like the prices you pay.
Steak was great and rivaled RPM in Chicago.
Food was great, service was exceptional. The chocolate butter cake was one of a kind, wish they had it year round.
Waiter did not interact with us beyond taking orders and silently refilling drinks. Very odd.
Food and ambience were great. However we felt that we were taken advantage of as the waitress casually suggested a $100 addition to our steak without mentioning the price. Not the most pleasant surprise seeing $100 extra on our check for a “small” shrimp addition.
Probably the last time we go there as this ruined our experience.
Out of all the times I’ve been to this restaurant this had to be my worst time. My waitress Mitchell seems to need more training. She forgot to put my lobster order in. By the time it came, everyone in my party was almost done eating. My steak came out a bit too rare then l normally like it so I ask Mitchell if she could have it cooked a little more. She asked me so many questions I felt like I was being interrogated and she did not want have my steak cooked more for some odd reason. She ended up having it cooked more for me. My steak came back looking way to over cooked. It looked like charcoal. When Mitchell came back she asked how I liked the steak I told her it was over cooked. She smiled then walked away. This experience made me feel like I was dinning at outback.
Great experience too dark in room
Service was great. And to me that’s always what’s most important. We ordered the most expensive plate on the menu Japanese A5 Wagyu New York 12oz $200 shared for two. And the twin lobster tails $68. The steak was definitely good. But I wouldn’t order it again as my main steak. If it’s your first time I would order the 8oz for two people and the 12oz if there’s four. I would eat it and order it like a sashimi (have them cut it) just so you can taste what it’s all about. But I’m a steak eater, next time I will try another cut. The Lobster was awesome!
