Mastro's Steakhouse - Costa Mesa

The entire meal was AMAZING!! The bone-in rib eye was melt in your mouth tender and delicious! Had it along with a caesars salad that was absolutely flavorful — and the breads, as always, are scrumptious. Had wild mushrooms and snap peas. Would recommend Mastros to anyone looking for an amazing steak experience!
As always, amazing food, and impeccable service.
Best date night spot. Great food and drinks. Our go to place for special occasions.
I was very disappointed in the service... it took nearly 30 min to get it food, and when it came the steak was burnt. I wanted to tell the waiter by my date said she couldn’t wait the additional time for the food to come out since it took forever to get it ... she’s never been to Mastro’s and she and I were not happy at that point. To make matters worse I ordered the butter cake which I assured her would make up for the dinner and it was served cold!!! Can you imagine that... she didn’t know the difference but I did and I was so mad. It took us 1.5 hours to get to the restaurant and to have horrible service and food was a huge let down..
I frequent Mastro’s probably 3-4 times a year for the past 10 yrs. rarely have they let me down ... never this bad though... I’m shocked and surely disappointed!
I will be calling the general manager about our experience. To long to write
Bar area with the live entertainment best location good music and romantic.
The steaks are the best around. Always prepared to perfection. Excellent service. And always have to get the Butter Cake and the sorbet trio to end the night. The best steakhouse.
Top notch place. A little pricey but nice to go for a special occasion. Thought a $35 corkage fee was a little excessive.
Great food, great atmosphere for the holiday and great service!
We wanted a special place to celebrate Thanksgiving and this was perfect. The service was superb and the food was excellent. The wine that was suggested was a perfect fit for our meal We tried a few items suggested by our waiter and she was right - the bacon was superb. We will definitely return to try more dishes. There was a bit more noice than usual due to families out together for the holiday, but that made it even more festive!
It took the valet attendant about 45 minutes to bring our car back.
The salad was one of the worst salads I had ever had in any restaurant.
Will never return to this place again!!
My boyfriend and I ordered 2 steaks and 3 sides, but his steak and the sides were all salty, so we couldn't stop drinking water. It was our first time, so I don't know if the foods are usually that salty though.
Bisque was cold, 2 times. Steak was overcooked, 2 times. Service attentive but food a letdown. I appreciate them trying and remaking things but they were busy and just couldn't nail it.
The bread was stale and the service was quite slow. The potatoes and prawn were decent but the steak was over-charred. I would rather visit the Beverly Hills location or choose a different steakhouse locally.
We always look forward to dining at Mastro's. Everyone from their hostess staff to their waiter and bus staff are extremely friendly and professional. Our favorite steak is the bone-in rib-eye with truffle butter. My husband loves their scallop potatoes and I love their Caesar salad. They have an extensive wine list to compliment any meal. We love coming for special occasions or just a treat for ourselves.
The petite steak was amazing and cooked perfectly, as was the asparagus. My fiancé’s crab legs came out cold!
The service was very good but did not appreciate being routed to the bar first (everyone was) as the drinks were very expensive. Our table was nice but it was so dark that I could not see the menu and just had to pick something. We had the Chateaubriand for two and it melted in your mouth but had no flavor. Oh well, hadn't had that in a long time.
This is the 2nd time we eat here and my wife and I were celebrating 20th wedding anniversary. It was not crowded at all since it was just before Thanksgiving. The food was ok compared to last time, and we were given 2 complimentary strawberries for us. My wife was expecting something more for dessert. Hahaha...little things will make a difference. We will go somewhere else next time :)
Never disappoints !
The best restaurant in OC! Great food and service.
Best meal ever. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.
Always a great experience at Mastro’s in Costa Mesa!
Wonderful 41 birthday experience
Waiter was horrible. Baked potato was ice cold. Had to ask three times for a beverage. Our waiter was a “drive-by” waiter. Steak was very salty.
Very good quality of steak. Deserve the price
Phenomenal as usual!! Everything pretty much sums it up..
Celebrating our Anniversary there. it was a good Ambiance, Good Food and I enjoy their live music lounge and the service.
Outstanding Service, Food,Ambience, and no issues with valet parking
Food and Service were Great.
Way too LOUD with the live music from the bar area being piped throughout the entire restaurant.
Had to speak extremely loud for me wife to hear me...
Sat by a window, and the temp in the room we were in was on the cold side.
Maybe some guests like it LOUD and Energetic, but my wife and I like it more calm and quiet.
Ive been to this location countless times, once upon a time it’s used to be a fancy place for dining out, I’m so surprised how people look. YOU NEED TO BE MORE STRICT ON DRESS CODE MASTROS. the people that I saw there really degrading your place. Terrible
We have been diners at Mastro's various restaurants in Scottsdale and Phoenix for over 20 years. Never had a bad meal. It's our go to place for celebrations and out of town company. This however was a very disappointing experience. Diners are crammed in like sardines. The noise level is so high you cannot carry on a civil conversation without shouting. The food is good and well prepared. The service was outstanding. However because of the cattle car environment, I'd suggest someplace else. We certainly will not be back to this location.
Server Bait and Switched us. Both of us ordered specific size steaks (12 oz or less) - wht came were the largest (and most expensive) ones. Not happy - we had a show to get to or we would have sent them back. Be careful at this establishment. This is not the first time this has happened at this SPECIFIC location - Costa Mesa. Bev Hills is wonderful.
Mastro's never disappoints. The service is always excellent and the food and drinks are delicious. Over the years I've noticed that people dress up less to come here and that's a shame because I feel it takes away from the ambience a bit. The only other detractor on this visit was how very cold the dining room was.
I have come here a lot of time but this last one was very different. When I arrived the valet didn’t get my car, rather I had to walk up to the guy and hand him my key. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and they greeted us well at the front but they didn’t do anything else really for her. Our server was very disconnected and felt almost like he wanted to get us in and out. Our steaks were perfect but the scalloped potatoes came out weird so we sent them back. Then when dessert time came around we ordered the butter cake but they didn’t bring her the birthday cake or candle that was supposed to come out on it. We didn’t complain but it we were celebrating and that’s why we went there. Finally, they overcharged me on my bill and we had to send it back twice. Before it was done correctly. I think this is a one off experience with Mastro’s but it still wasn’t a pleasant experience.
2 year wedding anniversary
It was our 15 year wedding anniversary and they made it so special.
We always have a great experience when dining at Mastro’s. This has been our yearly tradition when celebrating our anniversary. Mastro’s never fails.
The ambience is disappointing. Patrons are stacked in like sardines in a small space. We were sat at a very narrow table for two that was against the wall. It was a very claustrophobic feeling with hardly enough room to eat. The quality and choice of bread was poor.
