The food is to die for. I will go back again and again.
Wonderful experience at Mastros. We ordered filet, bone in ribeye and my strip. All were. Sides were large and spectacular. Diego was our server and he was beyond exceptional.
Before entering the restaurant, we were all standing in line until the restaurant open. There was a white family , black couple , then my partner and I , followed by an Asian family. The couple in front of us , were under the influence of marijuana. My partner and I proceeded to enter the restaurant, checked in with host, the hostess politely said your server will be with you in one moment to escort us to our table. I said thank-you , I stepped aside in order for the next family to check-in. The Assistant General Manager walked over to me , and informed me I must leave the restaurant because I smell like marijuana and he has the right to refuse service. I explained to the Assistant Manager that there was a couple in front of us who were under the influence of marijuana, he explained that it was us. He also said if it's not you then it's your partner. However we're all standing in line and the white family nor the Asian family was asked to leave the restaurant. The Assistant Manager did not apologize for his action, racial profiling, or behavior. I am calling corporate in the morning. I just wanted to enjoy fine dining. With all the things that's happening in the world, African-Americans are always/ will be targets in America.
It was everything you would hope a great Chicago steakhouse could be. Great traditional atmosphere, friendly, very attentive service (Kelly is the greatest) and the food is straightforward and expertly prepared to perfection. Certainly one of if not the best steakhouse in town.
Our service was personable and professional. Food was deliciously and timely.
Mastro's was great again, not a surprise. Steak was amazing. They were able to work around my companion's special dietary restrictions also.
Server & service excellent. Hubby’s steak & mine overdone & no flavor. Sides were huge & good. But for a steakhouse & price it was a disappointing experience
My wife and I decided to try Mastro’s this weekend. The service and food were absolutely beyond comparison relative to what we’ve experienced in other Chicago restaurants.
In particular, the Wagyu beef was spot on. All in all, the food and service truly lives up to the reputation.
The only small complaint I have it’s that the supposed dress has apparently been abandoned. There were people in hoodies and average street clothes. This would normally not register with me but we were looking for a very refined dining experience this particular evening.
Also, a group of women came in. One woman in the group was obviously wasted form the time the group arrived and pass out at her table minutes after being seated, while downing more alcohol. The situation was handled very professionally by the staff but I was surprised to see that the group was let in to begin with.
To sum things up, Mastro’s delivers in spades on food quality, service, and even fixed ambiance. However, the clientele was somewhat off-putting. Having said that, we do plan to revisit the establishment but we will not be getting dressed for a formal meal.
Kyle was an amazing server he was able to answer all of our questions knowledgeablely. The food was amazing and the exceeded my expectations of what I was getting. I will return again.
We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Our waiter was Diego who was well versed in items on the menu. He made excellent recommendations and the lobster bisque and steaks were absolutely delicious. The shrimp appetizers were a hit and the free dessert was amazing. We will definitely be going again.
For the price of the food they need to be more careful making sure everything is right
Our waitress was great!! The petite filet 6oz was one of the best steaks I’ve had and I’ve had a lot. And of course we can’t forget their signature dessert. Delicious!!
I came here to celebrate a birthday with a friend. I’ve been to Mastros several times pre-COVID so I was excited to get back to the live music and warm atmosphere. I had the tuna tartare, dry aged ribeye, lobster, baked potato, and asparagus. The food was fairly standard for steakhouse food. Not great, and nothing to write home about. The baked potato wasn’t cooked through and my steak was cooked a bit over the medium temperature I requested. I would be content with the food in conjunction with the atmosphere if it wasn’t for the terrible service. Our waitress was scarce to say the least. The duration of our dinner was 3+ hours and mostly because we spent so much time waiting for our waitress to reappear. Any requests we had, had to be made multiple times to remind her. I did everything in my power to be kind and engaging to pull some personality out of her but she was dry and amiss. I had questions about the menu that she didn’t know the answers to and laughed off instead of finding the answers. I’m one last ditch effort for good tip, she dropped off a free dessert to our table with no explanation as to what it was for or even what it was. She simply dropped the plate to the table and said “this is on us” and walked away. In general, I do like this place and I have never had an negative experience like this one so I will most likely give them another chance in hopes of getting a different waitress.

The service was very good. Our server was very busy but took the time to be attentive to our needs. Her suggestions were spot on and we had a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. The excessive noise level was due to our being seated near the entrance of the dining area. Overall, although a bit pricey, we would recommend visiting this restaurant.

I have frequented this restaurant in the past so I know what to expect as far as food quality and experience. We were celebrating a birthday with family. To begin, my husband and sister-in-law had the lobster bisque and reported it was the BEST bisque either has ever had. I had the crab cocktail which was succulent and the presentation is always nice. Both sister-in-laws had the petite filet, my husband and I had the halibut. The halibut was definitely undercooked and lacked flavor as I’ve had it several times in the past and alway enjoyed it. The lobster mac was thoroughly enjoyed, the sautéed spinach was good as well. The creamed corn seemed to drown in its sauce. Overall, the service at Mastros has always been top notch, the appetizers are always well enjoyed and we will return.
Mastro’s was amazing. The food was so delicious the service was great. The setting was great. Would definitely revisit.

We have been to Mastro's around southern california and las vegas. This experience was not the same. Between the lack of service and the noise level of the diners and regular radio music it left us heavily disappointed. The food, though gnocchi was unavailable and off the menu, was still tasty, thankfully.
Unlike prior experiences there...food was off...chopped salad watery.baked potato under cooked and cool...Steak cooked fine bit just not that good for $135 piece of meat..service was good though
No better steakhouse in downtown Chicago. Everything is wonderful!
Steaks were flavorful but chewy and tough. Scallops were rubbery. Service and waitress was great. Food and drinks were very, very overpriced for what was received. Would not go back

We went for my daughter's birthday and had the most memorable experience imaginable. The maitre d was so accommodating as I had asked for nice seating. Our server, Lauren, was amazing. We will definitely be back.

The food was good but the service was fair to poor. The restaurant seemed under staffed and our server had to many tables to take care of . The value was marginal and $300 for Osetra cavier (30grams)was very expensive. The cappuccino at dinner end was was cold and we felt ignored. I have been there many times , but will not be returning in the future. To many other great options in Chicago.
